- To my mind. Not only is Johan Cruyff, the greatest European player I've ever seen.
He sits comfortablely with the greatest South American quartet comprising: Alfredo Di Stéfano, Pelé, Diego Maradona, Lionel Messi.
Crüyff was an astonishing player. Exercising mesmeric control of matches, from anywhere & everywhere on the pitch. Controlling matches from defensive, midfield, forward, zones at will.
The grand master of the orchestra.
He remains the greatest football playmaker & two-footed passer of the ball I've seen.
Thanks John great upload -
The more I watch Cruyff the more impressed I am, unlike Pele where it feels the opposite for some reason.
My Top 5 would be
1. Maradona
2. Messi
3. Pele
4. Puskas
5. Di Stefano
You could change the order to include Cruyff and I would'nt argue. I had to include Puskas simply because of his insane stats
that are similar to Messi's. - 600 + goals and 300 + assists. It was back in the 50's so I don't know if they've been inflated.
I put Maradona 1st for his skill and ability to carry not so great teams to incredible heights, he was a great leader & inspiration,
although not everyone's favourite.
Jimmy Greaves actually put Brazil great Garrincha above Cruyff but these things are always subjective.
One of the best compilations i've ever seen of this amazing player, able to play at any position in the pitch, using either the inside or outside of both feet, his speed, his intelligence, his astonishing skills, his unstoppable acceleration... Unfortunely he only attended one World Cup as he refused to play in Argentina 78 missing a second chance to win the world championship. One of the greatest, if not the greatest.
Thanks for the comment. Much appreciated 👍
No one in today's football comes close to this Genius.
Am in total agreement Sir.
I regard him, the best European player I've seen.
Johan Cruyff ... really What a amazing Football player ... working with both of legs ... is surReal ... out from this Planet ... one of the most complete players of the Football History ... passing .. vision... dribbling ... crossing ... free kicks .. corners kicks ...heading accuracy ...tackles ...tecnique ... work ethic ... work rate ... The players you listed are indeed, the most magnificent total footballer’s. I like the modern total footballer Jude Bellingham. He’s only 20 & doing great things at Real Madrid.
@@johnpacino007 the final season from JOhan Cruyff .. at Feyenoord Hol... in 1984 ... was incredible playing with Ruud Gullit ... they won the double ... @@seraqueeusourealmenteobode31 What's your all time T5 players?
He was an incredible player who was two-footed with extraordinary spatial awareness, incredible speed, brilliant ball control, balletic balance, a great goalscorer and an exceptional crosser and passer of the ball. A trademark move of his was to cross the ball from the left side with the outside of his right boot.
Yes, he was all those things. Plus his movement of the ball, to exploit the opposition weak area's & his tracking back, to read dangerous situations was sensational, with immaculately timed, tackling/interceptions.
Him, Pelé, Di Stéfano, are the most complete, all round players I've seen.
@@johnpacino007 yeah he was a tremendous all round player who could defend very well in addition to his attacking game. He was one of the best passers/crossers ever with his outside boot acute angled crosses and passes out of this world.
Yeah. He was a master of the trivela pass before Modric and Quaresma.
Good day. Watched and enjoyed. Great player. Thank you so much for the video! Of course like from me. Baku city. Country Azerbaijan
Thank you very much. So glad you enjoyed the comp. Subscribe, for more comps coming on the great players of the game.
@@johnpacino007 OK. Subscribed. Thank again.
Lovely
Thanks mate🤜🤛
May be it is totally wrong but it always seems to me that him and messi had a copy paste making decision process. It agreed that leo and diego had a similar technique. However, regarding the style of play messi is more johan than diego especially his two version with pep in 2011 and 2012. People claim that version of messi starting from 2015 to 2019 is better than pep version but i completely disagree dut to the fact that his workrat on the pitch goes down i liked how energetic he was in the begining and this is not due to phisycal condition it was just his decision.
That's all true. Cruyff brought a brand of football to Barcelona & Spanish football in general. La Maisa was the foundation for young boys to be versed into that brand of 1970s Dutch total football, with the emphasis on ball retentions, pressing & high backlines. Messi, Guardiola, Xavi, Iniesta, etc, all owe an enormous debt to him. No Pep with tiki-taka, winning double UCL. And Spain winning 2peat Euro & World Cup in between.
@@johnpacino007 but i think spain inherted the concept of positional play and add alot of dimensions i do not mean development but just with their own way sometimes they were accused that they are boring. Evena some deep analyctical articles accused pep of being paragametic. I think he is more van gaal guy than cruyff but cruyff is more favourite to be linked with in media.
Do you think he needs the World Cup to be one of football geniuses like Pele and Maradona? The same question about Platini, Baggio and Laudrup
My main answer to what you've posed, would be...
Could the player hold their own, playing on the same pitch with or against:
Pelé, Maradona, Messi?
In the case of Johan Cruyff & the same for Alfredo Di Stéfano, George Best?
The answer is a resounding YES!

I do not see Messi among those to whom your answer applies. He is a player who is supported wherever he plays, whether Barcelona, Paris or Argentina, and there is no pressure on him if he loses, as other colleagues bear it, as happened in the 2014 World Cup, and in 2022 he received penalties at the start of each match. And we did not see him decisive under difficult or challenging circumstances, he is only a propaganda player greeting the sponsoring companies with FIFA
@@ayman3715 I think it's fair to say. His international football career with his nation Argentina, as been a rocky affair, from 2005-2020. Encompassing, almost the entirety of his international football career & a four final loss, in his 1st 4 of 6 national finals, with Argentina.
That's a considerable amount of international football final lossess. Unheard of from any previous great's of the game.
I think the reason he was able to ride that out. Was he was the go-to-man of his generation.
So social media, fanboys, tv pundits, youtube football content creators, etc, kept backing him time & time again, when he failed, until he got it right at the 2022 World Cup.
In Pelé's era. There were so many great ball players. That had he failed so many times like Messi.
Other great players would have taken his spot. ( Garrincha, Charlton, Rivera, Eusébio, Mazzola, Beckenbauer, Best, Cruyff, etc )
Messi is way above any other player of his generation. That no-one else could capitalise on his failures. Barring Cristiano's UCL / Euro tournament win campaigns, between 2014-2018.

Thank you, Mr. John, for your understanding and wonderful response. I think few people understand football like you. May God bless you.
