    Hey Geoff. We enjoyed this latest vid. very much. It's always good to see round your place.
    The ewes and lambs to date look well being turned out, that was a great move ti get them all in for the night! It's all happening in the poly tunnel, things are really moving now.
    We loved seeing more trees going in, particularly the walnut trees. Thanks fir this Geoff.
    Best. Jacob and Johnny. 🧔🐶🤓

      I know! They're coming out massive this year!

    That walnut tree spacing looks crazy close, where did you read 1-2m? Unless they are on some special rootstock or something you should be aiming for at least 5-7m. I would strongly suggest double checking the spacing with multiple sources. I know the thought of digging a bunch up and replanting sucks but otherwise that's probably several hundred pounds of trees you are wasting. The tree roots will complete with each other and could even lose the whole crop in a very dry summer.

      Funny you should say that .... I've already decided to take them up! Haha. I think I must've been bleary eyed when I looked it up so I'm going to take the majority up and re-space. Shouldn't take long to be honest as ground is so wet.

    Hi Geoff. I only came across your Channel a couple of weeks ago and have enjoyed catching up with all your vlogs. Very refreshing seeing the pitfalls, downsides and upsets with smallholding as well as the great times.
    Geoff, could your ewe have taken a dislike to her lamb and battered it. They can easily kill a lamb they don't take you and very quickly, with bleeding from the nose/mouth being fairly characteristic.
    Watching your post Storm-Isha was a hard watch. Hope you are coping better with the slightly drier weather, whilst we have it. I normally welcome all the seasons and what they have to offer but even for me this sustained wet has made Winter seem a bit long this year. I get by by looking back through previous years' photos of Spring, Summer and early Winter to remind me of the fruitfulness yet to come.

      Hi Lisa, and welcome to my channel in that case! I try to be as real as possible; I'd love to be a farmer with a tonne of money and all the latest kit, but that's not reality! 🤣
      I don't think it was her. The lamb survived two days and she was very attentive to it that whole time, nuzzling, licking, checking in but I guess we'll never know.

      G@@BrimwoodFarm Gosh! Strange. I always wish was a fly on the wall watching what goes on on my own holding.
      I also think I'd love to be a farmer with tonnes of money and kit and MORE LAND (we only have 10 acres but we love it) however just been watching your 'trespassers' vlog and I think it's a case of 'be careful what you wish for' sometimes. More land invariably means more public access points. Groan. We had a thief recently; well, 2 potential thefts. One was intercepted by a local and he went off emptyhanded in a cloud of dust, the second stole my Salter lamb hanging scales which was so annoying as we had a poorly goose and I was weighing her every 3 days or so to monitor her progress/recovery. People can be so selfish.
      Anyway, sun is out (finallllllllllyyyyyyyyy) and my Mother's Day wish is to be taken to the garden centre to buy some more Snakes head fritillaries for my Spring wildflower area before the next 2 weeks of forecast rain in our area (Somerset) Argghh.

    Not sure about your info source, but walnut trees need to be spaced much further apart.
    Our trees are only a few years old and already have a spread of 2 - 3m radius.
    You probably need the trees to be at least 5m apart, if not much more.

    • @BrimwoodFarm
      @BrimwoodFarm  Před 4 měsíci

      Yes! I totally mucked up ... I went back and moved some so now they're a min of 5m apart!

    My dogs are on a raw meat diet that mainly consists of farmed meat, but very often is supplemented with wild venison and rabbits, so I was wondering could you not feed your expired livestock to your dogs?? as long as they don’t have disease or medication in them, of course.
    Could save you money on dog food.

    • @BrimwoodFarm
      @BrimwoodFarm  Před 4 měsíci

      Unfortunately not. It's all about traceability of the livestock for disease control etc.
