“Within an Ice Giant”

Walls of ice, rooms of frost.
Heart sits there alone, trapped
deep, deeply encased in ice.
Standing, all in red, pounding
fists on frozen impassive walls.
Running through passages,
feet slapping and growing numb,
between walls of green ice
reaching toward the sky.
Light is faint. Shadows growing brighter:
someone’s coming, pickaxe in hand.
