In a nutshell, I ‘m an avid dumpster diver, scrapper, picker, treasure hunter and underwater connoisseur. I prowl the city streets in search of dumpster loot, curbside treasures & scrap metal as well as scour the river bottoms for lost valuables during the summer months when I can scrounge up enough money for gas. I had my first CAT 5 boxes score today !!! WOOOOOHOOOOO !!!! At least 100 ft left in each box and I got about 15 boxes in all 👍👍

I think, as early as 30:09, he knew he was missing that box, which he saw earlier. Probably got buried in all that trash that he forgot where it is.
Pink bubble wrap is used mainly for IT equipment its supposed to be anti static
Gotta love Mike's laugh it's a little sinister sometimes but overall it's pretty descriptive as to how he's thinking lol

Mike you brought back my passion for scrapping. When I was a kid I did it with my dad and four weeks ago after watching some of your videos and the 10 man Scrapper. I decided to start my adventure again last night I did some dumpster diving oh my God I got some amazing stuff thank you for bringing back my passion and I did mention your video channel in my video I hope you don’t mind.

@@lanna7917 He seems to be getting over his cold. You know, the common cold, I think it is still around. It is often brought on by allergies (cause it is Spring) and post nasal drip. So treat the drip before your throat is too sore. Anyways, he is getting moving again. This is his gym!

I never pass up a free bag less vac, 9 times out of ten you just need to clean the filter and unclog them. $20-$30 each $50 for Bissel with all the attachments.
If not cut the cord off the vacuum

Just a little heads up, that fryer you can sell for around $800.00 bucks online. I worked for an auction junkie and he sold a lot of fryers. I use to have to pressure wash them with a hot water powerwasher. I used to use simple green and let it sit for a bit then hit with the washer.
He finally answered the question I've had forever...what those metal hooks were for! A skateboard holder!
Be careful with those fluorescent bulbs. That white powder at the bottom of some of the dumpsters has mercury in it.
I about cried 😢 when all those Knex were just tossed...
Go in the fire protection fab shop and talk to them about the pipe thread shavings, they are caught in the oiler pan I’m sure they would save them for you.
FYI that push plate is definitely copper. Copper is used for a lot of commercial door and window hardware because it has a natural anti-microbial properties.
Source - I have installed thousands of pieces of hardware in schools, Federal buildings, and hospital's.
Old calendars are really good for crafting if you want to sell somebody an outdated calendar

Hey ya, Mike! You found somr great scraps! I wanted to say a big, grateful, "" THANK YOU"" to you for cleaning up around the dumpsters even when its' not your mess! I have NEVER seen you leave a mess anywhere in all the time I've been watching your videos!! Your desire to not see these scrappable items hit the landfills is applaused by me and many others! I sure wish these companies, a lumber yard scrap yard or another scrapper would see to it that! the unbroken wooden pallets weren't thrown away when they are still in good and reusable shape! Mike just take the damn vacuum cords lol. Don't listen to the haters. The chance is just so slim, noone is gonna repair those old vacuums. It's all gonna end up in a landfill anyway.
We wouldn’t have FedEx or UPS without USPS. Both those carriers use the Postal Service to get things where they don’t go.

OH BE STILL MY HEART! I see all that shipping supplies, Bubble wrap, yippie! And I don't even pop it! Before I retired, I got all the shipping supplies I needed, now I ask around for boxes and bubble wrap.
18:48 You know poor Mike isn't feeling too hot when he finds a whole full spool of #2 wire and all he says is "What's this? A whole box, looks like #2, just sittin' in front of the dumpster'' then tosses it into the truck and moves on. This videos old and I'm all caught up on new ones so, I know he recovered but, it's still a bummer to see. I'm sick right now myself so, I can relate!
Mike, you know the hoses, dirt bins, etc on vacuums can sell for decent amounts on ebay, local apps, etc. some parts sell for $10-$15 but other pcs sell for $40-$100, depending on the brand and model

try not to be in a dumpster and break florescent bulbs, it releases mercury vapor which you don't want to breathe.

35:32 Looks more brass to me, might be the camera, but i say brass. Copper is a pure metal, while brass is copper mixed with zinc, so i guess how easy it is to recognise depends on how much zink they pured and mixed in there. But yeah, it should be considered brass if you cant clearly tell it is copper.
Both copper an brass gets more dark/red with a oxide layer when getting older.
Copper (pure), brass (copper & zink) and bronze (copper & tin) is considered red metals.
Look at the moon with the telescope, it is fun, you see the craters and things clearly :)
