John Carter Cash, the only child of Johnny and June Carter Cash, speaks candidly about his legendary fathers writing and recording of the music that would become his final album, American VI: Ain't No Grave. During these final recording sessions in May of 2003less than four months before he passedJohnny lost his wife June to surgical complications. According to producer Rick Rubin, Johnny said that recording was his main reason for being alive. I think it was the only thing that kept him going.
This part-two-of-two short documentaries features music and interview footage of John Carter Cash talking about the recording of the songs that made up Johnny's final album. Also included are iconic film and images of Johnny around his writing cabin in Tennessee throughout his American Recordings career.
The Man in Black may no longer walk this Earthly realm, but through his music, Johnny Cash is very much alive and well and living among us.

Johnny Cash was and always will be a legend. He was a human who had faults and trials but he rose above them. To be human is to error, learn and move on and that's what he did and his children have every right to be proud of the man he had become.
Carrie Sharrow I wish someone you can do a story on me just like I going out to the whole Johnny Cash Family and a lot of other country singers who passed away in some very famous people that I met in my life we need to really keep them going in a hot with the famous songs that they song and a lot of other people who sang you are not with him anymore in the country and in the bathtub songs

I was blessed to meet both Johnny and June Carter a number of times. He was a kind sweet soul, as was June Carter Cash. I have that picture of my sister and I with Johnny cash which I hold dear. God bless you Johnny see you in heaven, when we meet again.

His songs, his voice, the words he spoke all resonated with me and I've carried them around with me in my head. They've helped me through so much and to me he hasn't gone and he never will for as long as his songs are out there then so is he willing me on. I'm 70 now but I'll keep on going, after all ' There's always another path to walk...'

Anyone with any doubts about just how much Johnny's music means to people only has to read the comments on videos like this. He will always entertain & inspire people of all ages & from all backgrounds of music. His body may be gone but his music will live forever.
Seen him and June in concert in Peoria, IL. I was seated less than 10' from the stage. What a true artist, gentleman and human being. He smiled directly at my step mother and she talked about that for years until she passed.

God keep you in his keeping...Johnny Cash; I first heard you sing on the radio when I was growing up in County Donegal, Ireland and loved your music ever since. The closest I got to actually, meeting you, was in being a guest in a room named after you at Markree -Castle in Sligo.....
It did. I found his voice on his last recordings heartbreaking, especially the song Hurt. It always brings tears to my eyes.

Its so hard to believe I was related to this man only by marriage, June Carter Cash, I wish I could have met June, and Johnny... I hope to some day meet His Son.. It would be the greatest time of my life. But that may never happen.. At least I have these videos here on CZcams, to kind of get to know them. I apologize for rambling.
I thank God that He brought Johnny and Rick Rubin together to make his final masterpieces. The albums on American Recordings were the best albums of his career. He already had great hit songs that he had written and recorded in the past but these albums were personal statements. These songs were who he was. As a man he was a beautiful paradox like all of us but He longed to be truly free with God, June, Jack, and all the others who had gone before. He is now forever at peace. God bless you Johnny and Rick and thank you!

Johnny Cash is one of the greatest artists ever. My favorite songs are the last ones he recorded. Hurt is prob m favorite song of his. What an artist, what a man, His music and legend will live on forever.

It shows that they were not perfect and made the wrong choices at times as we ALL do.It helped me see that If I try more to see the choices I make can be bettered. We live with the consequences of our choices as OUR burdens in this world. IT IS HOW WE CHANGE THEM THAT MAKES US BETTER THAN WHEN WE CAME. I would rather live with JESUS than without HIM. I feel better about me in the long run. I still have work to do to change.
Johnny, Elvis has always been the passion in my life, and through him I learned to get to know and love you and June. Not only your music, but the way you lived and loved our Lord and Savior....
