Let's be honest, phones nowadays reached thier peak and definitely it's not wroth upgrading not only every year but now every five years at least. The only thing that can be done is an under display front facing camera with actual good quality. Not the bad quality under display camera on other smartphones. And the second thing is a new battery technology that can last you a week or more. Other than that everything else reached its peak.

The problem for Apple is they have talked about a new AI phone , which means im not buying a new phone till i see a leap in technology, because i don't want to buy a phone thats the one before the AI phone... so i have my old apple phone and my untrackable private phone.
Are phones, "old" or otherwise, actually untrackable? Perhaps older phones don't offer pinpoint accuracy but they still allow for narrowing of search parameters.
I honestly only consider upgrading my phone ever couple of years now is because the battery life massively reduces when you hit that 2 year mark. Going from one charge a day to needing to top up the battery during the day for it to last is really brutal…
15 Pro Max user, I will be going to the 16 Pro, NOT max. I know the battery is bigger but coming from the 14Pro I really like the smaller size, so much more.
Yeah but aside cameras and charging, what is changing in the productivity department. Will it finally offer split screen ability? Transparent widgets? iPad style keyboard? I’ve been playing around with an iPhone 15 Pro Max and to be honest it’s been a bit underwhelming. I was really hoping to love it but it may end up being returned.
This is going to be a skip year or if you have an older phone go for the (soon to be) Reduced iPhone 15 that can handle the new AI stuff when they finally decide to fully release it!
My iPhone 15 Pro Max still gets so hot from streaming a video on half value on the speaker that I get a warning from the phone itself and the video starts lagging.

Most people probably don`t give a sh*t about the AI features. I think most people are interested in the bigger screens with smaller bezels, the camera upgrades, and the (probably) battery life ugrades aswell as better heat management.
As a Content Creating - Mobile Marketing professional, my 15 Pro Max + Moment Lens has given me such a great experience. I upgraded from the 13 Pro. I'll happily still be using the iPhone 15 Pro Max until the 17 comes out in 2025. The camera upgrades in that one are gonna be notable and insane

Am i the only one who is not getting exited anymore with Apple product releases? I think because of the economy, people are using money for really important stuff. A phone is just a phone. I am still using 14 Max Pro and there is nothing in the newer models that will make me get an upgrade. Nothing really new, maybe faster, but in the end it is till just a phone with a fancy camera.
So Apple Intelligence will be standard on the entire lineup? Kinda deviates from the last few years where they introduce a feature that's originally exclusive to the Pro models and then comes to all models one year later. My 15 Pro Max definitely gets warm but luckily it has never overheated. I do a lot of photo editing in Lightroom and some graphically intensive gaming occasionally without any issues. Just a warm iPhone lol. It usually gets the warmest while charging.

I wish there had been kind of a middle ground where the Dynamic Island slightly shrunk before moving to a “dot” next year. The phones bezels shrinking has made it seem a lot more obtrusive.
The crazy thing is they had the tapping pinching and squeezing all the way back to the Apple Watch Series 6 cause I had it activated and because I’m a mechanic I kept pausing my music and skipping it all the time cause I would activate it and I couldn’t figure out how to shut it off lol but eventually did
I usually upgrade every 2 to 3 years but to be honest until I see barely a notch, nearly little to no bezels, and long stretch(fingerprint in screen) it’s not needed. If not then I would consider buying the 16 Pro Max instead of the 17 Pro Max because the battery will remain the same and only the design will really be a big change. The trade in value for your Iphone 14 Pro Max will not decrease that much from the launch of the 16 Pro Max to the launch of the 17 Pro Max (maybe minus 70$ in trade in value so not a lot) so that’s not as much of a concern tbh. But if you do not really care about telephoto cameras and design then I would tell U to choose the 16 Pro Max since it will get a better battery, a bigger screen, better cooling and a better ultrawide so a pretty good upgrade from your actual phone and you will not have to wait a whole other year for the 17 series.
It makes sense to me why these complex super features take a little longer after the hardware is released. Cuz the hardware is seperate from the software. It allows developers more time to polish.

Sadly, Apple’s 2TB option looks like they’ll be opting for the slower QLC NAND flash storage over the faster and higher quality TLC they’ve been using. The speed differences are marginal, however TLC which is pretty expensive *lasts* a very, verrry long time. A 7yr old iPhone can still feel “snappier” than the equivalent competition in part due to the sheer longevity of TLC. 😔

Just a thought - so, the Sharge SSD Enclosure looks pretty neat; but a MagSafe version mounted on the back of the phone would be so much more practical and intuitive, especially when it comes to filming with gimbals…a bottom/side mounted SSD will definitely disturb the gyro-balance configurations; and even more when switching from landscape to portrait and vice-versa. Ofcourse, we’d be still needing the thunderbolt USB-C cable-connection; but to solve that, we can always have L/U-bracket connector-types to avoid twisting and flexing, which might damage or even break the cable through regular use. This would be my first-impressions UX analysis for the team Sharge, maybe you can forward this to them? If they bring-in something like that into the market, I’d definitely be sold on the spot! FINALLY(!!!) we get a 2TB local storage tier. This is the feature for which I have been waiting. Its absence is why I didn't buy the 15 P/M last year after updating annually at the largest local storage tier for nine years in a row. I want on-device access to all my media content. Whilst 2TB isn't *quite* sufficient for that task, it will allow me to suffer far fewer savage culls of media for which I've paid. Streaming is fine when the internet works but it can't be counted on 24/7/365 and it's those down times when the old favourites are needed the most.
The idea that the capture button will have a half press for focus seems kinda pointless to me. The iPhone is pretty much always in focus, and has great focus tracking. I’m a camera guy, and this isn’t a thing I care about in my phone

What would be even better is if they put solar panel under the screen that way when your outside & have low battery you can turn on the stored energy and charge up the phone through direct sunlight without wires or any battery bank

FINALLY(!!!) we get a 2TB local storage tier. This is the feature for which I have been waiting. Its absence is why I didn't buy the 15 P/M last year after updating annually at the largest local storage tier for nine years in a row. I want on-device access to all my media content. Whilst 2TB isn't *quite* sufficient for that task, it will allow me to suffer far fewer savage culls of media for which I've paid. Streaming is fine when the internet works but it can't be counted on 24/7/365 and it's those down times when the old favourites are needed the most.

The idea that the capture button will have a half press for focus seems kinda pointless to me. The iPhone is pretty much always in focus, and has great focus tracking. I’m a camera guy, and this isn’t a thing I care about in my phone

This year is probably the best to upgrade or to just switch to iPhone. And next year will probably be way better
