Dry Fly Fishing on the River Wharfe in the Yorkshire Dales

A short video of dry fly fishing the Colonel's Pool on the Appletreewick, Barden and Burnsall Angling Club waters of the River Wharfe.
The fly used was a size 16 Parachute Adams in combination with a 8ft 4 weight Garrison split cane rod, and a Phoenix Silk fly line. #flyfishing #troutfishing #troutfishing

Looks like Barden? I have walks there every so often and always wish I could fish it. Maybe one of these years I'll join the club. I have a split cane too that my father built for me, it goes perfectl with the Hardy Gem reel. Love the sound the reel makes. I didn't use the rod/reel last year, but might this year.

Hi Robert , just wondering Wht the average size of trout are on that river, my local rivers in Northern Ireland are full of small trout, I fish them with spiders from March onwards and wouldn’t meet another angler until august or so when the bigger fish arrive , I don’t mind catching small trout at all, but a lot of people don’t like it

Hi David, on the bigger Dale's rivers the average trout tends to be in the region of 3/4lb with some rare bigger fish up to 4lb+. The smaller becks tend to have smaller fish.
