- We decided to record a couple of songs in the spirit of Mardi Gras for folks' enjoyment this year.
Starówka Stomp is a band original. Robin began writing it some years ago in Gdansk, Poland, and the band fleshed it out in 2018 while performing with the Ashton Brothers in the Netherlands.
We recorded these songs at a band practice in Robin's backyard a couple of weeks before Mardi Gras 2021. Max Bien-Kahn recorded us on his 4-track cassette recorder. We're joined by Magda, Robin's wife, on bass drum.

This video is quite a family product. The music was written by Robin Rapuzzi, one of the earliest members of Tuba Skinny. The colorful, imaginative art is by Magda Boreysza, his wife. Magda has done other art for Tuba Skinny, and she joins in on the bass drum. As good as TS is at trad jazz, they are equally adept at several other musical styles.

I like it, reminds me of the Klezmatics, I think that was the name of the group. They did some fascinating stuff and they were/are fabulous musicians. "Man in a Hat" on their Jews with Horns album is my favorite!

Good writing Robin. Why does this remind me of a tune they would play at the circus for jugglers or a galloping horse act? Hahha Bravo! Sidenote: Craig Flory is so good! He's a master player.
Thomas, you probably know that in their 2018 tour Tuba Skinny actually joined a circus called Ashtonia in the Netherlands. So they have performed along with jugglers and aerialists and so forth.
Fantastic new tune. I have listened it for the first time. Robin is a wonderful composer. That is the fifth composition by him I think. All are brilliant. Thank you. 🙂

We need you in Las Vegas. I can see you folks filling a showroom. Great stuff. I think I saw the Klezmatics here some years ago. They appeared in a second tier (not on the strip) casino. When I say second tier a casino of that sort still has one thousand rooms or more. Probably a movie theater, ten restaurants, a bowling alley etc.etc.
