- Another episode in the First Car series, My friends Honda Civic Sport. All I can say is wow, this car is designed for the young petrolhead to the T! Noisy stock exhaust, Aggressive body design and a short shift gear stick nearer to the steering wheel than most cars!

Great car in the best colour too! Milano Red. I owned a mark one Vtec Sport for almost 9 years and it never put a foot wrong.
Cool first car. I have always like the civics. My first car was a old 1985 318i with the chrome bumpers.i got it about 17 years ago when I was 15. Good simple cars easy and cheap to work on.

Pretty fucking good cars tbh, not actually that slow. I bought mine because I couldn't afford the insurance on my mx5, but I actually really like it having hated hondas in the first place.

@@ryan-vo1rc hi mate, looking at one my self as soon turning 17 - I'm roughly estimating around £100 a month on insurance (for me with black box) £23 A month tax, £200 a month fuel for me (around 50 miles a week - I wouldn't drive slow), And then the usual bills such as breakdown cover etc and any repair bills so I would say running costs for me would be around £400 a month
The exhaust is blowing on the back box.

Hoping to pick myself one up this weekend. How did he manage to get insurance for under £1k. I'm slightly older, this will be first car and i have held my liscense for 9 months but insurance quotes at £1.5k?
Does the stock stop redlight remain visible once you' ve installed the type r spoiler?
I have found one blue ep 2 with 120k km in mint condition but owner is selling it for 8.4k€ hopefully I can get the price down still a bit overpriced but the clean one I found

You mean 110 HP, and if you drive it right you can get around 8 seconds 0-60

With a catback exhaust, short ram intake and chiptuning. It is possible, but yeah the car doesn’t really have 110HP in that case. More like 130

Danny if you want more loud you can drill the exhaust.It's so simple to do it..
Decent cars, I used to own one. My only complaint was the high cruising revs and lack of a 6th gear.

Just the usual really... Find out when the cambelt was done, service records and paperwork are a good thing to see.

Named driver is the main way to keep insurance down...but as long as you don't use the car loadsss. Other than that shop around.

How reliable is this car guys? I'm thinking of getting one but I have post traumatic disorder after having a c4 vts that gave me a ton of problems for two years (too much money on repairs, don't want to repeat that)
Mcufre I guess it depends on what quality of car you buy. If you check it out properly all should be good. My friends and I have done a few road trips in this Civic and it's been great!
I got an ep2 from 2003, 88.000 miles, zero problems. Only changing oil and filters and changing the timing belt.
The only con is when it gets older the door panels vibrate a litte in bumpy roads, but you know japanese interiors arent the best.
Are the petrol ones any good when hitting ariund 123k miles?
Mine is now 313000 km, around 200000miles
Hondas just keep going. Vtec engine the stuff of legend. Optimum gear lever position. Wish I still had mine.

You might struggle. But if you maybe hit up a pass plus to get some more skill to your name in the eye of insurance companies.
Go under your parents insurance if you don't plan on being the main driver and you may get lucky.
Avoid a black box tho...that would destroy the fun of this car....which is All at the redline! #VTEC!

its my car and the exhaust is stock, but the spoiler i think was a later addition, its the same one as the type r
