Staff is young and active so needs more food for energy. Her nan is 75 so less active and has less appetite. I have anxiety and so only recently been going out, it's amazing the convenience food people eat unnecessary.
@@JennyBunny240 needing more energy is an inexcusable reason to eat junk. It isn't hard to eat clean at all. It is one of the reasons why this country has such a problem with obesity. Eat clean.. Live longer đ

Yes , swapping a diet with an older generation quickly puts into perspective what you should probably be eating and the amount . If your working out alot or involved in extreme activity just add a little extra protein . Very small meals plus snacks each day is more than plenty of food . You'll also notice for sweets the older generation will use honey , fruit , peanut butter , ect and make a simple homemade desert instead of eating a little debbie snack. Cuts TONS of calories !
Grandad gave her a double portion for dinner. There is no way Gran eats that much.

I know, right?! My grandma used to set her table like that. She had the cutest napkin holder & salt/pepper shakers. She was the sweetest Grandma, just like Saffron's Nan!

Your nan is so lovely. Gosh, I miss my nan ... she ate like a bird as well (so does my mum). My nan's favorite and usual dinner was a latte with a slice of bread dunked in.
Mind made cheese toast in the oven with a slice of tomato... Nans really are the best!
I miss my nana too, we used to eat peanut butter sandwiches together whilst watching Peter rabbit on the telly â€ïž
My grand mom used to make me toast with butter and karo syrup for breakfast when I slept over. Also egg with a hole in the middle. We used to laugh so much together. I was her favorite grandchild. She was the best. đ

Aw sheâs so lovely! Grandparents are so so special and itâs so nice to see the relationship you have with your nan. Iâm so close to both my grandmas. They mean everything to me â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž
Most folks forget that the elderly often have problems with having an appetite. This youngster is young and able to eat loads of food. The elderly often have digestions that fluctuate from minimal to none. I know this from working with the elderly now.
And then, there's my friend's late mother-in-law who, at something like 107, could eat a whole captain's feast at Red Lobster by herself. Or one of those big manly breakfasts at Denny's. She could have been rich challenging young upstarts to eating competitions. đ€Ł
It is completely normal for old folks to eat less. The smaller appetite is not an "issue".
They are also often not as active and they undergo changes in metabolism. My gran is 80. 10 years ago she started to only have fruit for breakfast. Then she stopped eating a lot of meat and for her a 100g are more than enough at a meal. And now slowly her portions size dereases overall.
But she is well and can undergo her daily routine which includes a huge garden and house to care for.
Yep, you see this a lot as a nurse too. Elderly people really don't want to eat anything. It's hard to get them to have anything at all when they fall ill.

It actually is an issue if you know anything about anatomy and diseases. Whenever old people fall ill their bodies get much more heavily affected than young people. They lose much more weight and muscle and it takes a loong time for their bodies to recover. This coupled with the fact that diseases last longer in elderly people as well means that it's recommended for them to have a BMI that's a bit higher than the normal recommended BMI. That's a tough one though because they refuse to eat a lot. We've even started thinking positively about elderly having a glass of red wine a day because at least that gets them some calories.
I'm so curious if the new diet was actually better for the gran.. So far as I understand it oj and cereals should not be mixed as they make you hungry.. So curious..

I'm curious to know how your Nan ate at your age. When we get older we eat much less. I noticed my grammie would be satisfied with 1/2 a sandwich and a cup of tea. I think the best thing was eating with Nan all day that's a great memory

@@ktsls82 It's actually the light eaters who are eating the way they did as kids. People eat much more now than 60+ years ago. Also nan grew up post-war. Rationing was still on during her young years.
