    Watching this for a second time. I love your fabric paper/paper fabric.
    I've done something similar with peices of fabric that I was gifted years ago by a local upholstery shop. The fabric was from the sample books that had been discontinued. The tops of the fabric had been glued to paper to stabilize them. I cut that portion off when I used the rest of the fabrics in quilts. I was going to make book marks, but after making some mini albums I decided to try them as junk journal covers. They turned out even more awesome than I had imagined. For the base I used the large paper bags that some of the grocery stores still use.
    I have lots of fabric scraps and every one has dryer sheets. I want to do this now.

    Tissue paper makes a good first layer also, as do book pages and other papers. Instead of ironing the background to the freezer paper you can mod podge it on or use white glue with a little water mixed into it. Can be painted when dry also. Very, very fun project...thanks!

    it is very pretty, both pieces are, but you really didn't show us your technique of making the paper fabric. How did you keep it so neat and wrinkle free, how are you placing your collage pieces and how much mod podge did you use? Do you only make the one layer? Is it thick enough with only one layer? I never saw this technique done without any mess, so I don't have a clue how you did it. I'm not trying to be critical, I really want to know. I really do love what you did. Maybe other people catch on quicker than I do, I 'd really like to get more information if possible. Thank you.

    • @RondaWinsteadRondawithoutanH
      @RondaWinsteadRondawithoutanH  Před 4 lety +1

      I would recommend you start with used dryer sheets, or a really thin fabric interfacing (no iron on glue) and then add your napkins with this method...you could even cut the vest pattern out from the interfacing, leaving about an inch all around the pattern...glue your napkins on, let dry and then cut around the pattern again, but you can't use heat after you've glued things...it will melt and gum everything up...can you perhaps find a ready made fabric you love that's patriotic??

    • @glittermama
      @glittermama Před 6 lety +1

      You can seal it with a spray sealer, eg, Design Master Home Decor Aerosol Spray, matte. Try to do it outside and/or use a mask. My opinion--you wouldn't want to use the hankie as the base because you would then cover up the painted design. Why not use something else and decoupage the image to the base so that it can be seen.

    Too bad none of the hanky shows, you could use just plain fabric couldn’t you? Would make a beautiful journal cover

    Yours is kinda shinny, is that due to using the kind of mod podge you used?
