    I wouldn't call it a "Lazy Way to Coffee Dye Papers". Say "Smart, Easy and Faster Way to Coffee Dye Papers". So clever. I didn't want to use my oven to dry the papers either and letting them sit to dry or hang to dry takes space which I don't have. And your spritzer bottles you can use diluted food coloring, or different green teas, or whatever else to dye with. Very clever Ronda. Thank you for the information. Going to start right away!!

    You do it pretty much the same way I do only I use a wooden cutting board and paper towel for clean up. Walmart also has the nonspray containers that allow you to just dump your dying product right onto several sheets at once. Btw I use just a regular hair dryer on low cool to dr them quickly. Next I'm trying food coloring n water!😊

    Was happy to see this video because I have been doing this ‘lazy way’ to stain my papers for a couple of years. The only difference for me has been in using my microwave instead of a heat tool. I have used all types of papers and color of dye sprays. When using the microwave (it’s a low-watt, small one I have in my studio), I put 1-2 papers in at a time. Parchment and other heavy paper I put in at 1 minute one side, turn over and 1 minute more. If still wet I will do 30 sec or less at a time. Be careful and time this process because it can scorch. Thinner and more delicate papers I start with 30 second intervals. You’ll have to experiment a little to learn the timing of each paper you use. But, using the microwave is even easier than using a heat tool. The prep that Ronda has used here is the same as I use: coffee or tea already made, a spray bottle and protected surface. I microwave 1-2 8 1/2” x 11” parchment papers at a time. I do microwave smaller bits, but I can get two papers done in short time. I do about 6- 10 pages in each dying session. It goes so fast and easy that I can do a batch every day, if I want too! Okay, well, Rhonda, thank you for the video. I wondered why more crafters didn’t share this ‘cooking’ method (even in using the heat gun). Happy to see your tip for paper staining!

      Some of us just must be late-comers to the party GJ! LOL! My studio isn't large enough to accommodate using a microwave...and it takes less than a minute to finish both sides of my papers with the heat gun, so I'm satisfied. Thanks for sharing your way of drying your papers...sounds like you've got a system that works really well for you!! I appreciate your comments and wish you a great day with creating lovely things in your studio! :)

    Thank you Ronda, great tutorial! I have an important question though. Is your printer a laser or inkjet printer? I have an inkjet and I know that dyeing paper already printed with an laser printer won't make the 'ink' run, but will it make inkjet run and smear? If I dye the paper first and iron it, do you have any idea if the paper will still go thru a printer to be printed on AFTER it's dyed and dried and ironed?

    • @RondaWinsteadRondawithoutanH
      @RondaWinsteadRondawithoutanH  Před 5 lety +2

      I do have an Inkjet printer...for my printing, I usually print and then dye and I like the messier look, but I'm really just usually printing lines for writing so fading on them just adds to the charm. I have sometimes done as you are suggesting, but it can be tricky. You have to feed the paper in really carefully as it's a bit wavy even with ironing, but if you're careful it should work. Good luck!!

    • @diannew6066
      @diannew6066 Před 5 lety

      @@RondaWinsteadRondawithoutanH Thank you Ronda without the h :) I thought it would smear much worse than what you're getting so I will keep that in mind for things that could use the charm. I originally learned about the easter egg dyes from Rosemary Frias...here is her CZcams Channel where she discusses them and where she purchased them...the upshot is...if the dye call for vinegar, add it...I used a small amount of boiling water to mix the dyes up and then added rubbing alcohol, as it dries faster than water. czcams.com/video/GB1AVDhYzMU/video.html
