Honestly it's crazy a guy works all day welding and he's addicted to welding videos . Yup I'm a pipeliner . Fuckin love alberta oil. Great job as always !!!
rentonarc same
How do you become a pipeline welder
How is it
Do you trevel a lot??
I'm in welding school and am hoping to get a job doing something like this one day. Thanks for the video.
It seems like you folks stay pretty busy up there, That's good. I hope all that work lasts a long time.
I want to move up there. I'm sick of the heat in Texas. Thanks for putting these awesome videos out there.
Looks good brother! Downhill stick def takes some getting used to
loving these daily uploads. cant wait to start college so I can start welding :). keep up the good work :)
Haha! Nice to see another young person going into welding! I'm right with you brother!
So you wrote this comment 6 years ago now. Did you ever get to college? Are you a welder?
@@seadoogti9288 yessir, been pipe welding for a while now, working in West Virginia right now
@@TheGarnetwave Very cool. Fascinating to look back 6 years and see how many of our predictions and future plans actually come true.
These people know welding!
Nice video! Thanks
thanks for the tips
i want a peak at the puddle when they weld that falling weld
Hard to believe a pipe that diameter would still have a bend in it in the middle. Love your videos!!
good stuff !
Cool video Bro!
Do you guys always weld 6010 downhill in the pipelines? I’m still in school but our instructors tell us to weld uphill
What electrodes do you use ? Me in Russia for 8 years on the Assembly line such technology welding did not come across. STT root only ) and the electrodes from the bottom up )
Do you have to oscillate the rod with the root pass or can you just drag it?
I been there ,in them shacks handling them buggs.I worked withed 798 pipeline got on at Lake Charles LA. To Winn Texas.
I like
Sout out lc
Excellent💯 melting neat welding
Thanks
Very impressive, that's got to be hard on your body and cold.
I love this Job i am also a welder working in Malaysia
lucky, im down here in texas in these shifty tig shops I can't even find a pipe shop let alone save to get a rig
Good job
Some good money being made on that day
btw, what's the name of the helmet you're using? looks dope
lucky, im down here in texas in these terrible tig shops can't even find a pipe or tube shop let alone save for a rig
good job
Damn those are some phat electrodes
What rod and size we there running the root with it looked big
Slow motion arc ballet. Bruce Thomson in New Zealand.
What brand of welding glove do you where
Would much prefer doing a job like that in freezing weather compared to doing that in a hellish summer climate. Pipe fitters have to deal with extreme heat in the summer time. My dad used to work in scrap iron and he had to cut scrap regularly and in the summer time in Georgia he would sometimes sweat so much that around the collar of his long sleeve denim shirts salt build up would form. He was a gatorade fanatic and went thru a lot of it.
Stoving or vertical downhand, 6811 or Nu 5's DC current ideally
Whats the linear length of a weld that big ?
Hola desde Colombia donde puedo conseguir los guantes que utilizan
50,000 views! Thanks to everyone who helped make that possible!
I just found ur video. cool video btw. I liked it. I was wondering why ur using stick welding, wouldn't fluxcore wire welding be better? seems u could make a longer weld without stopping.
it would make a longer weld without having to stop, but SMAW or how most know it "stick" is better cuz it cuts in to the metal far better then flux core, so "stick" is stronger for most jobs. this is why.
dust.in.the.universe although I prefer SMAW... Doesn't wire feed welding (GMAW & FCAW) penetrate more than Stick?
How do they do that without blowing thru
is that w.pool frozen on the downhill man. kevibhoy
I miss pipeline welding.....
awesome. union welders or no? if so what local
Probably some 798 boys if there from the states
Vertical down and kind of electrode they are using? Is that 6010 or 6011??
6011 is known as "farmer's rod" never used for code
I can't wait to get out in the field welding, any tips for green welders entering the field?
TorTorTalks listen to what the veteran welder is telling you and soak up all you can for knowledge and you'll be fine
Do the inside seams get painted or coated after connection and welding?
no
Azazel..he runnin 5/32 8010 on the bead?
E2h with surerus?
Outta curiosity and wanting to learn, is that common practice to stick weld down hill on pipeline? Thanks.
Pidge.
+PiDGE IAM underground pipe is down hand 7010 8010 and out of ground is 7018 caps
+Marcel Lirette hmm ok Marcel. Thanks for the reply. I didn't know that.
How much you guys het paid the hr??
OSHA would have a cow if they seen this lol. Where I work I have to wear a fall harness and a hardhat and my welding hood needs to have a halo that connects to a hardhat...... Great video.
15ironreaver seeing as they're only about a foot off the ground I don't think a fall harness is necessary. There's nothing overhead either so a hard hat wouldn't do all that much. I've been on job sites like what your explaining though and yes the amount of safety precautions are definitely up there. Fucking everything has to have a tether line , you gotta wear your hard hat to go take a shit, gotta keep your fall harness clipped on even when your on the dam ground.
Fall protection is only required over 6'
saw, not seen.
Mmm my can you smell that!
how are they doing downhill welding without slag inclusion? I thought stick you had to weld uphill?
Unorthodox Tuning you have to learn to not leave slag. Then you can call yourself a welder.
Speed Demon uphill is only for structural steel welding...
These rods are made for pipeline purpose and are great for downhill. And no you run uphill when welding pipes aswell in international standards downhill is almost a pipeline exclusive. You either weld it with ok 46.44 or 6010 (root) 7018 Cap.
It's called stovepipe welding in the old days.
@@dannyherrera1598 only structural??
All Asme 9 procedures for pipework and pressure vessel work are uphill. 6010, 7016, 7018 etc
Why from top to bottom?
Do you do any welding or are u just the camera man
Got to love downhill "fast freeze" electrode stick welding!
My local welding school is said to be 4.5 months long... is that too short?
Roach 277 yep you won't be able to hit everything and there's a lot to welding you have a lot of different processes blue prints welding symbols you have to have the book smarts and the hands on that will make you a good rounded welder and never be afraid to get out of your comfort zone because sometimes you are not going to be comfortable you try to be as much as possible but sometimes it's just not possible
My course is two years tbh and i dont even think thats enough time
i'm doing a 1050 hour 12 month course and at month 10 i'm still doing 3G (you have to pass a bend test to move to the next position) i'm not even sure i'll make it to 6G pipe by the end. already signed up for the advanced class that is another 750 hours so i can get experience with tig. it takes a lot of practice and you have to put the time in.
Why do they not feather the crater before restarting the.bead?
Probably burn it out anyway with a hot pass
So you guys don't clean the weld on restarts? Guess its not about tensile strength of the weld as much as its about sealing the pipe so that liquid can flow..?
Tensile strength is probably a very small part of it, because after the pipe is set, there is no moving it unless you intentionally ram into it with a truck.
amps and rod size?
woow i thought to weld pipe u should go from down to up, not from up to down.. what is the difference anyone can explain???
im learning how to weld any advise
WAR DUDE MORENO you can never stop learning.
Qe electrodo es ese
👍👍
fuckin awesome video brother
Hi sir.i m looking for welder job i have good experience could you able to help me.
👍
U mean frezzing right lol hope no gas in pipes lol cool video ,they dont unless welding is finished . looks like root pass on this video . still cool 🎥
why welding down?
Сверху вниз варить? Интересно
Well damn I only do T.I.G. At work I make car wash vacuum cleaners
Were is this at I'm cert. to do it up hill these guy have it super easy
Try running hot hot downhand really fast with 8010 8p+ it's a lot more difficult than you think. I've been running lo-hy up for years, transitioning to down hand, I have about 30 coupons burned together. It's hard. Give the guys some credit.
Touching the electrode while welding is okay? Won't shock you???
it wont shock you
Welding current needs a complete circuit to flow. And it will always take the path of least resistance. So you could imagine that the gloves, slag, basically everything the welder is wearing is an insulator. Whereas steel is great at conducting current.
not worried about shock, there is nothing to be a conduit. you're worried about heat. if it's too hot to hold, you're probably running too hot to weld, as a general rule of thumb...
if its raining out you will get shocked here and there but this is dc current it wont kill you. nice little buzz here and there keeps you movin
to get shocked you have to be touching both leads, and they have to be bare. the flux is not conductive AT ALL!
Is that 70 18??
Welding downhill?? No, theyre 6010, 7010 or 8010👍
Anyone notice the skateboard @ 2:20?
Vertical down?????
I have a felony that's going on 5 years, will that prevent me from getting a job on the pipeline?
Thx for the info, very useful.
Just pass a drug test in Canada and your good to go.
its like a lady and the tramp love story two sticks meeting in the middle.. beautiful
I'm curious as to why they're welding downhill. I have been told by my college professor, a former CWI that downhill welds on plate or pipe over two for diameter can only be welded uphill according to AWS D1.1
Me also downhill welder
is that 6010
Jose Jimenez by the sound and whipping motion looks like it
pretty sure it's 610 root and 7018 cap
Jorge salas-Not on a pipeline. It's pretty much 6010/7010/8010/9010 run downhill, hot with a tight gap.
I'm not a pipe welder, so forgive my ignorance, but I was under the impression that a pipe root pass was always done uphill. I suppose that's not true?
lilcrits no whipping. Look closely at the guys stinger , he stays right in the puddle the whole time. You do see him pushing that rod in deep to penetrate though. Good work fellas ! Gotta be a tough day with snow on the ground then you get kinda sweaty from welding and moving around. Lotta respect
Shouldn't they be welding up?
I've done code welding and everything was vertical up
+Defnotdemas Tig welder for 22 years.Done alot of stick and mig.Any code welding whether it be on bridges, gas line, oil line or whatever is always welded up.Pipe certification requires a 6G test, meaning vertical up.
+Jimmy Johnson this is F3 down hand with 8010 or 11018 fast freeze rods, just as good of 'penetration' as anything,
+Travis Bell Are these the only rod you can use down hand with?
+3V1LB3N you can use 6010 5p+ as well. i work in a pipe shop, took a text to work in a plant a few months. 6010 5p+ bead and hot pass downhand and fill and cap with 7018
Love that Shit!
How could I make this into my career.
I know welding highly demanding but what type of welding career is less physically demanding than the others?
Chase Anything inside, bench top/jig welding.
they need some radio , 98 rock
why diwn hil wtf does loyds whant from us
Rogayle Wiebers loyds?
Wher he larn the welding
habeeb ulla where did u learn ur English?? Lol
How much do you guys with your own rig and shit charge an hour?
Kyle Humber Regular rate for an intermediate level welder is usually around 80$/h
안녕하세용
Gonna have a hard time if you fuck with a drag man always step it bc it’s makes fixing a fuck up while welding
does anyone there have a auto dark helmet? lol
Auto Dark filters will malfunction in cold weather, some times they just plain stop working. Having to change battery's or swap filters all the time is rookie work.

300,000 views as of today! Thank you everyone!
U ninny
Damn! All the self proclaimed CWI's posting comments. They say opinions are like assholes!
Ï dream about it’s in my sleep yesterday night sml because ï passion for my pipelines dem just love pipelines omg sml just put gods first in everything me is going to do in my passions yah because it’s just dreams big 📝📝📝ï likes to moves too 📝📝🥽📌
what the fuck is a skateboard doing there?
It's called a slider, or a slick. You use it so you can easily roll inside of the pipe to back weld, idk about this particular pipeline but usually you only have to weld fittings or engineered bends. ( the really sharp turns in the pipe) because there are usually .780 thickness. But some pipelines want all welds back welded except tie ins. Hope this helped
Never knew pipelines were welded from inside too.
Thanks for the answer.
I m all raundar welder
What the fuck? China welding ? omg thats not right how they do it...
If youre a welder, you know that they push electrode too much into it,making root absolutely bad, but they make second weld over it.....finished! If somewhere leak something,no problem it normal.... lol buddy you get dissmissal for this horrifiny welding in czech republic. Do they even x-ray welds afterwards?
No,it really isnt. I think i said it clear...you have brain in your head,so... su pls :)
but since u weld pipeline u should be using cellulosic electrodes, and since i've not welded with them i do not know how to use them the best way.
I guess it's a question of which level quality preferred.
Nowhere in Europe a pressure pipe would be accepted welded on this low level..
Even on standard building/construction you're supposed to grind between each stick..
ArrigAutist Comparing Northern Eu with the rest in welding are not fair our standards are way beyond many parts of the world😀 No grinding between passes or atleast clean up... insta fail😁
What a boring job!
Tom Smrdel lol
But it pays the extremely well!
That job you called boring pay check in a week is bigger then your check in a month. Those guy are getting more then $25+ a hour so you do the math.
Those guys make $100+ an hour
Mr. Saephan lol I make $24 as a helper, they're making a grand a day
