Leave a question for me to answer in tomorrow's video!
hi tori I’ve really enjoyed your sketchbook habit series and looking forward to a video from you every weekday! I was wondering which you preferred between the etchr sketchbook and stillman and bird beta edition for watercolors?
GORGEOUS!!
Do you like the prima tropicals palette or the essence palette? And what is your opinion on using flat brushes vs using round brushes?
whos your favorite sailor scout and do you prefer granulating or non granulating colors more or staining or non staining or transparent vs opaque
What was the best/worst thing about trying this challenge? Also what is something that you learned about your painting habits/technique/process?
Me: Looking how beautiful and pigmented the pallet is :)
Also me: Looking at the price :(
Hi tori! You are one of the first artists here in CZcams that I discovered and I really love your videos. You inspired me to make art and I'm really grateful that I found your chanel juicy ink a few years ago! I hope after this series ends you can get some well deserved rest!
Soooooo cool to see the bold differences in your two paintings! I feel that it really illustrates how a personal style can be challenged by just approaching the same subject matter differently. Thank you for taking us through your process on both. and for giving the world MORE SAILOR SATURN!!!
I always say Red Rose deep wrong too ;) I loved both versions you painted here, but the second one does feel more current Tori! :)
Can’t believe this series is almost over. Today’s painting is so lovely
Gonna miss this sketch book habit I'll definitely rewatched all vids
Gonna miss this sketch book habit I'll definitely rewatch all vids
I discovered you during your first sketchbook video challenge, and this draw this again really puts into perspective how far you've come and how long we've been here (as viewers). Your art journey is so inspiring!!
That brush is honestly amazing. I know Tori has some serious skill too but the finest lines from that brush are just perfect.
This is so crazy to me because I remembered you out of the blue, and came to find your channel again, I remember that original painting vaguely as I was a fan in 2016 haha
Watching you paint is still as mesmerizing, still as magical as ever :)
Wow wow wow I love videos like these, just watching you paint and listening you talk is so calming and I love hearing about new things you’ve learned/noticed/ or just want to share. Thank you so much❤️
Painting with you right now! I love love love the colors in Denice’s palette!
yayayaayyayya! I'm beyond thrilled to hear! Have a wonderful painting session :3 I shall see you tomorrow
What are some videos that you would like to make after tomorrow? I love how you are very interactive with your viewers and I am excited for the last day of sketchbook habit!
The 2nd redraw try looks so much more like your style!! I would have known it was drawn by you even without seeing it was your channel!
What is your biggest piece of advice for beginners for watercolor? I'm such a big fan of your work, your videos (especially having them every day recently) really brighten up my day!
I am going to miss sketchbook habit. 😢
How do you prepare yourself mentally for getting down to art? Do you like a quiet space, play TV, music, audiobook etc? Or just get right into loose sketching to warm up? Also- love how SailorMoon characters always somehow sneak into your videos. This fellow Moonie always looks forward to seeing your next piece, fan art or original 😊
How do you find things to draw enough to not only do this challenge but actually make this a career without getting gummed up, running out of ideas, or even getting bored? To do this on such a tight schedule must have been daunting, did you ever find yourself procrastinating some days or getting intimidated? Youre a treasure tori, thanks for sharing your joy with us.
Aaaaaa i remember watching the video on that first drawing!!!!! I was so inspired and ended up also drawing sailor Saturn many times ahahah
Yay for seeing this challenge through until the end! Watching your daily videos was just the extra jump of inspiration I needed to continue on with my schoolwork through this crazy transition. Thank you Tori and it has been a true joy seeing you post on your new channel!
My question for you through this challenge is what are your big tips for keeping a healthy body and mindset through an artistic career? I'm in college right now and I feel like classmates and I don't take care of our bodies at all. I'd love to take steps forward so I can have a healthy and long relationship with art without sacrificing my health.
I love that you have such a positive attitude towards art :)
Omg tomorrow is my birthday and you're sketchbook habit ends that's the perfect gift thank you!!❤️💛💚💙💜
How do you like to go about your portraits? I’m in love with how you capture the likeness and emotion of the reference! Is there a specific way you like to build your shapes? I’m just fascinated with how you sketch!
Today’s sketches are beautiful! 🤩
I really enjoy when you paint the same thing second time (and show the both takes on camera). A lot of people are afraid to show their failed pieces so it's encouraging to see someone more experienced go thru this too B-)
Hey Tori ! I'm so gonna miss these sketchbook habit videos. It was just a joy to watch them every day ^^ My question for you is, maybe you can do a review of the etchr sketchbook? I'd love to hear your opinion on it. And maybe how do you pick your colours for your paintings. :)
I did my first draw this again. The original was Copic only and then the new one is iPad. I’m happy how it turned out. Will be cool to try it again one day.
Revisiting the piece gave it, according to my eyes and memories from sailor moon, that melancholic look she had at some.point. loved it!! 💜💜
I really like 💕 the color pallet
This Sailor Mars looks very thoughtful. I'd love to hear a bit about how you go about figuring the ring highlight in the hair, that tends to goof me up even though it seems pretty simple.
Ahh! So close to the end! I have enjoyed these so much Tori, thank you for sharing!
Totally unrelated to this video, but Art Philosophy now sells watercolor tubes, they say they are artist grade too.
Big difference in mood between the two, the first look very cartoons compared to the more moody dark second one
I loved that you drew a few sailor moon characters this month! It makes my heart so happy!
my question for you:
What advice would you give to someone wanting to attempt their own sketchbook habit? You could take this to mean that they want to make videos about it, or that they just want to do it for themselves.
I hope you and your family are doing well!!
Always amazing painting!!! いつも素晴らしいです🎵👍💕✌
She’s beautiful ,painting is much stronger now and more confident ..Love it 😀
tori!!!! love your videos and the colour choices as usual 💕 by the way, just wanted to let you know that there is a new 48 pan kuretake gansai tambi set that looks so tempting !! i remember you decluttered your 36 set a while back though, so i’m not sure if you would be keen to try the 48 pan set, but i would be excited to see what you think of the additional new (pastel) colours!!
hey tori, not very related to the challenge itself but i´ve learnt so much watching these series. Are you planning on ever making videos in the way you aproach drawing? I see you talk a lot about watercolors but i would also love to see how you aproach drawing your subjects and how you chose them :3 great vids!!!
Tori my question is: what do you think about the advice that you should draw only things that bring you joy? Vs of course, focusing on your weaknesses
any tips on starting a challenge like you did? more on the sketchbook habit and your POV in the challenge
I really love how you did the eyes! And this color scheme is magical! This sketchbook habits videos are a pleasure to watch. I'm kinda sad it's almost the end, but you truly deserve a good break after that! You put so much work and effort into this, thank you for spoiling us like this! If I had to ask a question for tomorrow's video.... Where do you want to go with your artwork? What is your main goal? Is there something you want to explore? Keep up the great work :)
Would you ever make your own water color sketch book whether that be to sell or just making your own using binding techniques found on CZcams with lose sheets of paper
I had a different question in mind but I'm unsure on how to go about phrasing it, but I've been wondering this for a while too: when you want to make work that involves building up a lot of layers [with watercolor] are there brands that make paint that lifts off less or does it have more to do with the paper?
I believe it has to do with both paper and the pigments of the paint. Not all papers grab paint the same way and there's pigments more tinting than others. As to which ones do what, I don't really know. In liquid Color has a series about pigments where she goes in detail about them, including tinting strength
I love seeing the growth between versions even though they are different mediums! Coincidentally I drew the same thing three times in a recent video to practice too!
Been enjoying these videos! 💞
Hey Tori, I’m going to miss these videos so incredibly much! My question for you is: for someone who is a less accomplished artist and more of a novice when it comes to watercolour and wanting to do a challenge like this what is most important to focus on? Especially if this person is looking for improvement during the month, what element is worth the most for someone getting acquainted with watercolours. I hope that made sense. Thank you for being so inspiring!
Hey Tori!! You. inspired me a lot when I was starting out and you got me to pick up watercolors, now my favorite medium.
I wanted to know how you keep poses from being stiff and branching out with different poses.
Love you so much and stay safe hun!!!
What inspired u to start drawing and what inspired u to keep going?
Wow wow wow My friend was kind enough to gift me your previous Sailor Saturn as a print in 2016 and I stare at it every day, and these two new takes on her are to die for!!! I love them all 😭😭 she's my favorite scout too. I don't know if this is too general of a question, but I wanted to ask this on your day 17 video- how do you come up with your fashion/ clothes for characters you draw from your head? I always want to draw magical girls but I never seem to be content with any outfits I doodle >< and all of your stuff is just perfect ❤️
Wow it turned out so awesome!😆😍 I love that you drew a sailor moon character!❤💕
My question for you is would you consider doing this challenge again in the future whether it’s a year or another 4 years and so on? Not pressuring you or anything just curious love you and your art so much!❤️
Hey i think you should make a video about giving your thoughs for different watercolor brands
- daniel smith
- winsor & newton cotman
- paul rubens
- sakura koi watercolor
- kutetake gansai tambi
- ...........
She looks so pretty in your style! I just found you here today and I'm loving this series xD
✨
If you had to pick ONE pre-made palette (not a curated palette) which one would you choose? Schmincke, Sennelier, Denise’s earth friendly, Paul Rubins, etc. I’m thinking artist-grade not Prima’s Tropicals or Brights, Jane Davenport, or Kuratake Gansai Tambi.
I just got my package from Jerry's Artarama that has several of your suggestions! Haha!
That included the Turquoise blue from Turner watercolors, Creative Marks brushes, Silver Black Velvet brush (I already had the travel brush and wanted to expand), and the Jerry's Jumbo jet pencil in sepia. My art school graduation is next week and I can't wait to dig into them as a present to myself!
Who was your professor btw? I might know him, sounds like something I overheard him said to another student one time while painting landscape ha.
It is honestly really sobering bc three long time professors retired during my attendance. But I really hope they're living their best life (and Ringling gave them a hefty retirement package).
- What were your 3 fav days from this challenge? And what would you repeat/change from this challenge?
I know I don’t have the patience for watercolour but watching your channel makes me want to do it.
Time to waste my money
It would be cool if you drew saturn each time your life progreses. Like every 5 years you drew saturn and see what she looks like. 0o0
What are some of your favourite pigments? Love your work 💕💕
♡♡♡♡♡
When painting a portrait what goes on threw your head color wise? because i live the way you use them.
How do you film your videos. Also how were you able to upload everyday... love this painting so much❤️❤️
I remember that older drawing!
You mentioned in a previous sketchbook habit video that you'd like to work on your background work. What other art skills do you feel as if you need to improve more?
Alternatively, what kind of artworks fall under your guilty pleasure artworks??
Hey Tori! I was just wondering whether this sketchbook habit challenge has inspired you to revisit any new techniques/interests in your art? Love your videos ❤️❤️
Hi Tori!! I really love your videos and it has inspired me to start to use watercolor. I was wondering what colors are good for learning how to mix colors. I have a bad habit of just using the colors in my pallet and not actually mixing them, other than the skin tone. But I would like to know your opinion on what colors, and possible what brand, would you recommend using to learn how to mix colors. (also seeing Sailor Saturn it made me wonder what your favorite anime are??)
What artist inspire you the most right now?
What's your favorite watercolor color mixes?
what’s some advice that you would give someone that would want to go on this sketch book habit journey? p.s. you’re the best ✨💕!!
I reeeely like the new saturn!! Slik!!
Would you do a sumie painting incorporating anime. If you like the idea ofcorse. :)
alright question, what how did you improve your use of colour theory? have loved these videos I watched them every day
Is there anything you did in your older art that you still like and would like to do again?
Hi Tori! Do you plan on doing other art challenges? I really enjoyed it!
You may have already finished the video for today but do you have any thing you would have done differently for the sketchbook challenge?
Do you think Denise Soden's watercolour palette is worth buying? :)
Hiya! This is a odd question, but how do you think love impacts your art (or art in general)?
I know you've probably mentioned this in previous videos, but why don't you use any pure blacks like ivory black?
Tori, how do you go about balancing art and everything else? I'm currently a student, but I feel like I am neglecting my studies in favour of art, and it is quite stressful for me. Also, how do you rid yourself of feelings of laziness and procrastination, and feel motivated to do the more mundane and boring tasks in your life? This is quite a long question, but I hope you get around to it :)
Hey Tori, love your videos and art. I recently discovered my art style, I'm practicing it constantly to tweak it and improve on it, how did you feel when you discovered your art style? And what was the first thing you did?
What was your favourite piece during this, and also random thing could you draw Mr.Honiball and macaroon in the Animal-crossing world
I'll have a giggle if Tori makes the Wednesday Adam's sticker. I just made a Wednesday sticker for a friend xD
Mam, have you ever done a full painting with gouache?
Please upload the old videos! 🥲
First comment! Can't wait to see how your art turns out, gorgeous as always, I bet!
How do you live off being an artist?
Will you make a tutorial on how to paint African hair? I can’t find a good tutorial and I love your paint style especially with hair so please?!
There is not enough people who touch this topic and I don’t know how to paint kinky hair!
Question! :D
What are some of your final thoughts on the mijello mission gold paints? Ive been wondering if its a good set to learn about different pigments and mixing convenience colours (Since they are all single pigment colours) I wanna know if its worth the splurge to curb my quarantine boredom Hahaha :)
Which watercolour pallet will u suggest for a beginner?
Female Nick Runge
Where do you choose your songs for the videos??
where are you Tori?
What is the best method or trick in usi g watercolour?
Hi Tori! Hope you are having an amazing day! I have a queation: What is your thoughts on "artists" and by that I mean people who puts filters on photos and calling it a "drawing" or a "painting" (they are asking for commissions too)? And also, "Why art should not be free"? Thanks so much! Hope you can answer these questions. It is a bit controversial, if you don't want to answer it, totally fine. Say hi to Macaron for me! (spelling?) love you so much! ❤
Do u have another job?
Are you married?
Gonna miss this sketch book habit I'll definitely rewatch all vids
