    Zeiga, the reason you can breathe is because you’re in a space station. The glass is just very clean, so it looks like there’s no wall.
    Edit: Also worth noting, what Zanza showed everyone is implied to be everyone’s individual fears about what the others think of themselves, with a bit of truth. So Zeke likely doesn’t think that about Rex and Pyra, it’s just something that Rex is scared Zeke thinks.

    Towards the end of Klaus’ talk with the gang is something special. Those who played Xeno 1 saw him as this up him self, arrogant God that got his comeuppance, and to see him in this world repenting and hating himself and wanting to restore this world for the better is just pure bliss.
    The line “Right now…I think… I am glad I met you all” is just beautiful

      What's even more interesting is
      SPOILERS, DO NOT READ THIS DeiZeiga!!
      That in Future Redeemed, A spells out that when space-time transition event that split the universes happened, the half of Klaus that became Zanza _did_ harbor regrets and pain. Sure, he did embody MORE of Klaus's ambitious, ruthless side, but It wasn't a perfect split where one was good and one was evil and that's it. Ontos took on the guilt and genuine intentions that the godhood obsessed Zanza likely wanted nothing to do with. That's how Ontos became more than just a heartless machine during 1. He was more or less Zanza's blade, then Shulk's. It isn't exactly the blade system though, just something similar, albeit more intrinsic to the fabric of XC1's universe. Alvis could pick and choose his masters.
      The half of Klaus that was left behind in 2's world was faced with immediate, undeniable consequences, and nobody to talk about them with. Just cold reality and an eternity of time to reflect on his own hubris. He killed EVERYONE, and he was quite literally cursed to live with it. There was no point in having ambitions or justifications, or anything; he was alone, and unlike Zanza, he couldn't instantly use the remaining two cores to reshape reality instantly, because Alrest was not governed entirely by the rules set by the cores, like Alvis controlled 1's world.

    • @gormottigrebel9978
      @gormottigrebel9978 Před 5 dny +7

      I think it’s more accurate to say that Alvis only had the option to choose between Zanza and Shulk because Zanza used him as a vessel and thus basically ‘logged Shulk in’ to Alvis’ input centre.

    The interesting thing is that in a sense both The Architect (Klaus) and Zanza got what they wanted, they both became a god, they became part of the divine. The Half that Became Zanza genuienly belived his experiment succeeded which lead him to go on a powertrip and ganied the powers of a Creator god, but wanted NONE of the responsabilities of being a God that Creates, while Klaus stucked with the realization of the sins he's done he actually committed to the bit of being a God. It is 2 sides of the same coin with Shulk thrown in the middle

    one of the things I really appreciate about Xenoblade 2 is that it doesn't treat its God character as a bad guy. Even though he's just a person, they still treat him with a level of reverence and care over his actions and give him a deep investment in his creation, which contrasts with so many other jrpgs that treat the gods/creators as more antagonistic. Rex turning towards Klaus at the end and giving him fullhearted "Thank you" for creating them is one of my favorite scenes in the entire series.

But after the experiment and everyone disappeared Elysium slowly died off after how many thousands of years. It was clearly the home to all the people who worked at the Rhadamanthus tower. Honestly I expected Elysium to not be what it was since that's a very easy twist to do. The part about Klaus being the Architect though I didn't expect when I first played it.

  • @samreddig8819
    @samreddig8819 Před 6 dny +24

    So the 3 core Logos, Pneuma, and Ontos. They have meaning, they're in Greek.
    Ontos means "I am" its a reference to (and im heavily paraphrasing) when in the Bible some guy asks god "wat are you" and god answers "yes"
    Pneuma means spirit
    And Logos means logic.
    Together as the Trinity processor they make, well the christan holy trinity.
    As in
    Ontos: the father
    Logos: the son
    Pneuma: the holy spirit
    Meaning malos is Jesus.
    Also that tricycle in Elysium is a refrence to a tricycle that supposedly survived Hiroshima. Nowadays it serves as a warning about the cost of nuclear bombs in Japanese culture. As while the tricycle survived, the same can't be said for the owner.
    And finally pre apocalypse earth is slightly expanded on in the Xenoblade 3 dlc. Said dlc also makes Xenosaga cannon. So you might want to play those at some point (the fact that they're cannon now is leading some of fandom to speculate at there being a remaster so maybe don't rush it too fast).

    Xenoblade 2: the only game I know where you can have a magical cat/fox spirit in traditional shrine maiden robes wandering what looks like a completely ordinary and modern airport terminal (though it's technically a spaceport, but the interior is pretty much identical).
    I love Xenoblade 2 for basically creating an entire fantasy world, that's distinct, but still recognizably _fantasy..._ that's built out of 100% Clarke-tech.
    Regarding side questing now... there is one Blade, with a full Blade Quest, that's only added to the gacha after beating the final boss. While they don't have Blade Quests, there are also new Blades added in NG+ (along with several other mechanics).

    • @FireFury190
      @FireFury190 Před 5 dny +1

    A few things i wanted to comment here
    1-You might not remember who ontos is but a certain design change on definitive edition makes it obvious
    2-Someone else commented this, but yeah the reason why zanza was evil but the architect was good is becuase the experiment showed different apparent results for each of them, they both gained godlike power, but while zanza was thrown into an world that he could rule over, the architect had the destroyed old world.
    3-Also yeah what you fought was Rex's fears that he felt deep inside, every party member had a version of that, we just saw Rex's because he is the protagonist

  • @aiexmonsterhunter
    @aiexmonsterhunter Před 5 dny +6

    You got it all right. The worlds of XC1 and 2 share a common origin and both of their plots unfold at roughly the same time in paralell universes. It's one of the coolest ways I've seen a game handle its "sequel", because you don't really need to play the first one to understand and enjoy the story of the second, but if you did then this final chapter becomes absolutely mindblowing.
    About Ontos (the third aegis that travelled to another dimension), it's confirmed now to be Alvis from XC1. If you remember at the end of the game he stated that he was a processing unit, and in the switch remaster they changed his model to now feature a cross-shaped crystal on his chest.

    • @LFPman
      @LFPman Před 2 dny

      As someone who did play 2 first, I will admit, the opening cutscene of Klaus beginning his experiment and the exposition talk with the party had a few times where it would fly over my head. When you’ve got fans that have played 1 first like Etika and Dei that were out for Klaus’ blood before he could explain himself.
      Part of me wishes Alvis always had his Aegis core crystal back in the original game (before DE existed), but that would be too risky because very observant fans would figure out the two worlds are canon before so much as the glimpse in the Crucible.

  • @srlopez875
    @srlopez875 Před 6 dny +33

    There is a theory (which was basically confirmed with the Switch version of Xenoblade 1) that Alvis is Ontos, after all at the end of Xenoblade 1 Alvis told Shulk that he was originally the AI in charge of managing the Space Stationw where Klaus activated the experiment. and well, this IS the same space station after all.
    Also In the Switch Version Alvis Necklace changed from just a Key to a Red Colored Aegis core Crystal AND NOT JUST THAT o
    if you triangulate the colors of Logos and Pneuma Cores the color that would ve in Theory Ontos, what you get is a shade of dark Red, it's insane

    So, some little explanations that the game doesn't give you:
    Ontos, the third Aegis, is none other than Alvis. If you see a photo from Alvis, you'll see the Aegis Core Crystal on his chest.
    The Conduit has the same shape as the Aegis Coore Crystals because the Aegis Core Crystals come from the Trinity Processor, a processor that's made by the conduit to let humans use its power.
    The world before Xenoblade 1 and 2 is actually Earth, the Conduit was discovered on 2001 in Africa, and it was so powerfull it let humans make big technological advancements. That's how they built the orbital ring. Earth was destroyed in wars to take control over the Conduit, and Elysium was built as a replacemente for Earth.
    When Klaus used the conduit, the universe was split in two, and as you figured, Xenoblade 1 and 2 happen at the same time.

      Well he is not a Aegis. Aegis is a term made up by the ppl of Alrest as explained in Torna. It only refers to the Blades that came out of the core crystals of Pneuma and Logos. He is also not a Blade, since he left before Klaus invented the Blade system (that Ontos did a phase time transition event is a mistranlation, the experiment was the phase transition event that made Ontos dissapear at the beginning). He also has his memories pre-experiment unlike Malos and Mythra. Meaning instead of Aegis, Alvis is a pure Trinity Processor.

    Funny you ask if KOS-MOS is the same KOS-MOS from Xenosaga. She isn't but is a version of the same character created by Tanaka, the artist who designed her, who said he wanted to keep the design similar to the original "Ver.1" appearance of the character, and something that would represent "Xenosaga" in the game as a whole.
    Her name in the Japanese version is KOS-MOS Re or KOS-MOS Refrain as it was a refrain on the design of the previous person who designed her in Xenoaga.
    So technically this KOS-MOS is completely different as she has Cannons whose shapes looks like the Conduit in Xenoblade 2 or the Zohar in Xenosage with pink energy wings yet retains much of the originals demeanor and vast knowledge. The names of her Blade Specials all share the same powers that the original KOS-MOS has in Xenosaga or attacks that she has done.

    Just to clarify a few things, the party members Rex fights aren’t what those characters think of him, they’re manifestations of what Rex fears. He’s scared of rejecting and hurting Nia, scared of betraying the trust placed in him by Morag, of taking advantage of Gramps, and so on. Zeke would never say anything like that to Rex, but because of his internal doubts his belief that he’s not good enough comes out of the mouth of someone he looks up to. Since the characters saw their deepest fears, I wouldn’t be surprised if Nia saw herself being rejected and hated not just by Rex but everyone she trusts, or Zeke being confronted by how he didn’t stop Amalthus or how he and Pandoria and now dependent on each other.
    Which is why the scene with Pyra and Mythra is important. It’s Klaus testing to see how Rex reacts when he is able to be happy even if everyone else isn’t, and it results in him breaking down. Rex can’t conceive of himself being happy if other people are suffering.
    Speaking of, Klaus is super interesting. The separation of the Architect and Zanza isn’t a split between good and evil, but rather a matter of memory. Klaus was both someone who wanted to make the world a better place and someone with a god complex. The thought that if he had the power, then no one would suffer. So when he was split in half, one ended up in a new universe as a god with no memories, a clean slate. Meanwhile the other was left in a world he had murdered, alone with nothing but the power he desired. This is what separates Klaus from Zanza, one got everything he wanted but forgot why he wanted it in the first place, and the other lost everything he held dear and was forced to remember.

    You had no prompts your party would be separated and worst comes to worst, your ace blades are lost because they’re equipped on your drivers or lost due to story, like Pneuma, Blade Nia and the main blades of each driver. So I lost badass blades like Corvin, Crosette and were left with blades I never invested into.
    My ace was Adenine who I invested into early game, and a driver accessory that boosted certain stats so long as the blade was opposite gender. But Phantom Nia and Mórag took so many tries

    The way I interpreted how Klaus described the visions he gave Rex and the others is that each were given unique visions based on how they themselves perceived their companions, so Zeke for instance didn't see himself fighting Rex along side Tora, his own vision of Rex was something else entirely. I think it boils down to some philosophy principle that in any human relation, there's always three "selves", the "self" others perceive us to be, the "self" we perceive ourselves to be and the "true self". Klaus basically made everyone confront their perceived selves of the others.

    If you’re going to finish all the sidequests, i’d recommend
    1. Making sure you unlock every Rare Blade, because (i’m sure as pretty sure) that every blade quest should no longer restrict you through story progression
    2. Most importantly, you did do Titan Battleship land of challenge battle with Jin, but since you should be getting used to Poppi QTpi, do the challenge “This Year’s Heropon”. And since Tora is the only allowed party member, I think you can guess what the battle will be. Because a certain voice returns which could spoil it if you’re really observant in the end credits
    Also, you should (if you haven’t) try unlocking all Poppi’s elemental modifiers, so that they’re not locked into Earth, Fire and Ice element. Especially you can get a Light element for Poppi QTpi through Tiger Tiger which makes QTpi even more ridiculously busted.
    There is a much simpler way to get the Light Core specifically, but it is New Game+ only. But the other remaining element mods are not hard to get as they’re overworld

    There's some things I'd like to talk about, so here goes:
    The visions that the group saw aren't wholly the same. What Nia and Zeke saw were what they feared, not specifically what Rex fears. For them, they basically went through the same troubles as Rex. I can imagine that if you could play their visions, the party would say different things to them then what they said to Rex. Zeke isn't a traitor, though you're feeling a betrayal was pretty funny.
    I really like Rex's visions, because a core character trait of his is Greed. He wants the strength to protect his friends and change the world, like what Addam said in their vision together. However, Rex also fears that his greed would cause his friends everything. He fears that all he did for himself and them would mean nothing. It also alludes to how he does know Nia has a crush on him, but doesn't know how to go with Nia. This is further confirmed through a victory quote where Rex tries to address Nia's confession, while Nia says it's fine and laughs it off.
    All I will say regarding Ontos is that they're a character you have met. I won't specify anymore, they could be a boy or girl, they could be from Xenoblade 1 or 2, that's for you to theorize. It will be important though.
    I really like what the game does regarding Klaus, and how he contrasts Zanza. Zanza was narcissistic and evil, because he was the result of Klaus's experiment succeeding. Klaus didn't believe in the world, and desired to recreate it, and as Zanza, he essentially did do that. He created the universe of XC1 and he became all powerful because of it. He believes he was right in that universe, which caused him to be the way that he is. XC2's Klaus however is what happens in the face of the experiment's failure. Klaus has to deal with the consequences of his mistakes, and realizes humility and redemption because of it. It's subversive in a really smart way, because the more you see Klaus, the more he reminds you of Zanza, only for him to be the polar opposite of Zanza, because he's the reality where everything went wrong.
    Finally, for a longtime, many people suspected that Galea became the giant monster you fought in Morytha. The keycard Rex picked up showed a glimmer of her face. This was however deconfirmed after the XC3 art book was released, with it being stated that they were just reusing assets.

    • @bearluke6723
      @bearluke6723 Před 5 dny +1

      @@catalyst539 That isn't necessarily true. What made Zanza crazy wasn't the fact that he was split in half, it was that he succeeded in what was doing. He already had a god complex, him becoming Zanza just further cemented to him that he was right. If being split across dimensions made them crazy, then XC2's Klaus would also be crazy. Additionally, it's not far-fetched to think Galea could have had the same fate as Klaus. She was next to him when he used the conduit, that's why she became Meyneth in XC1. Zanza's appearance is also not the same as Klaus, he still has his full body, so it wouldn't be shocking if Galea kept her full body as well. I know now that the monster isn't Galea, but there's a reason why people believed it to be the case for many years.

Another hint is that the Aegis Core is a necklace so look around all the characters necks.

    35:16 Not sure if anyone mentioned this. But if you look at the evolutionary tree you don't see Nopon on it at all. Nopon really are the enigma of the Xenoblade series.

    We're finally here! Absolutely worth the lost sleep to watch this masterpiece. So remember allllll that time ago when you asked how the cloud sea works. and I said it would be a spoiler if I told you? Well, there's your answer. It's incredibly interesting how it works, though the pseudo-science is one step off working since the life cycle of the titan was apparently introduced after life was already reconstructing itself with the blades.
    Couple bits to go through, you could actually figure out Pneuma's name right from the first time you saw her form. That's what the Greek symbols on her chest read as, which is really fun. Lastly, who's Ontos? Hmmm, what characters exist in either game with unexplained power and information at all times, a connection to an important sword from the game, and a unique relation with the main character?

    Welcome to the truth, one that Monolith really tried to hammer in wasn't a connecting thread before the game came out so be happy that your reactions and feelings discovering all this about the Architect, Alrest and more is pretty much how all of us were like.
    Also I do find it funny cause of XC1 you were all set for fighting Klaus, hating him right away just like it was Zanza again only for the game to make you turn just like with the Jin and the rest of Torna, heck even Amalthus.
    Genuinely feels like the only true bad guy in this game is Bana lol

    When I first played the game back in 2017 and saw the new birth of a universe scene I almost thought it was a separate universe that just so happened to have the same origin events but a little different. Because the birth of a universe scene in XC1 was different than how it was portrayed in 2. Since the space station wasn't a giant elevator, there was no battle outside, and the scene in the lab was different. And we were lead to believe that the world of Bionis and Mechonis replaced his world that he destroyed. So I initially thought it was gonna be this event that just gonna happen in every future game with a different variation. Then I meet Klaus himself and he reveals he's been split in half it made more sense. I even whispered to myself "Zanza" when he said his other half was soon gonna die. Same thing too when he mentioned Ontos piecing out I whispered "Alvis". Hell I think a good headcanon reason for why Shulk's version of the birth of a universe is different is because Alvis showed him an abridged version. Whereas in reality when they made the first game they made it as a standalone story and didn't think about a sequel. So yeah the reveal that Alrest is actually the remains of the world Klaus destroyed and that isn't wasn't actually completely gone was such an amazing reveal for XC1 players like me. But man meeting Klaus again and seeing him interact with Malos and the main party felt surreal. Like seeing an old friend again. This really gave his character a lot more depth than what he originally had in 1. Getting to see two sides of him of what happens when he achieves his goal and when he doesn't.

    Afer your long, arduous, dangerous and epic journey....you finally get a talk with god himself and......
    recite him the 6th rule of the salvager's code.
    P.S : Suggestion : Teleport to the space station, right before Elysium. Go up the stairs, bot don't continue forward thowards Elysium, rather go to either left or right. There should be big Blue signs that say "A1". Get close to one of them and read what little can actually be read.

    43:30 The way I see it, Klaus had to live with the consequences of his actions, while Zanza just thought his plan to recreate the universe had worked and ran with it, so one was driven by atonement and the other, pure ego. Getting his brain sliced in two dimensions could also explain the shift in personality, dude's literally bipolar, but each pole is in a different universe, one clinically depressed and the other on the highest god complex high imaginable.
