Hands down my most complimented fragrance in 2023. So versatile - no suprise it was my most worn last year. Office safe too!
This is one of my most favourite fragrances! An absolute stunner and incredibly complex. I agree, it's definitely not just a blue, summer scent. It's fresh, then spicy, light but also dark. I get hints of Dior Ambre Nuit as it dries down.

I love 40 knots, it’s possibly one of my favourite xerjoff’s alongside Tony Iommi. I do have to be careful with xerjoff as I am sensitive to the screechy note found in Erba Pura and other xerjoff fragrances.
40 knots is captivating, it smells refined. I don’t know why, but I pick up on a floral note. It truly smells like nothing else and is a masterpiece 🤩

40 Konts is a masterpiece, a luxurious-smelling experience! It’s not a fragrance for the hot summer midday, but you can absolutely rock it on a summer evening. It’s versatile and ideal for the spring/summer.
There is sweetness, but not annoying, slightly in the background mixed with woody, amber tones.
Compliments are inevitable!
Hey Mikey, Thank you so much for offering to review 40 Knotts. I really did believe it was a niche aquatic in essence. So pleased I got the full low down. I am keener than ever to pick this up. I really enjoy the note of star anise, totally surprised it has a spicy amber edge. I’ll start saving my pennies for this beauty. 2024 is about quality not quantity. 40 knots is one of the most beautiful frags in the world to me for the first hour. Off the top it's simply stunning. It dries down a little bit too dusty/powdery for me to make a full bottle worth it, but whenever I'm down in Harrod's, I always go back to try it again, just to experience that first hour.
Nice review Mikey. I also get a sort of honey note in the dry down. Similar to that in TF Soleil Brûlant, but not as aggressive. Wouldn't wear that one in high heat either.

Excellent description of this great fragrance. To me it resembles the smell of the cabin of a luxurious sailboat. I smell the salty air in the opening, then the teakwood, and sweet amber notes take over, recreating the smell of the woods that furniture are made of inside the cabin.

Thanks Mikey, I don't understand why so many reviewers depict it as a fresh and aquatic fragrance. If it wasn't called "40 Knots" I doubt they would describe it as a summer fragrance.
It's said to be similar to Ambre Nuit for a reason, and Ambre Nuit never was and never will be a summer scent.
This is a woody and ambery scent with a nice sweetness through and through, the slight glimpse freshness in the opening doesn't make it a summer scent.
