- So you need to be sitting down for this. Believe it or not Madi said, and I quote "I'm not a fan of Xerjoff fragrance's...they don't resonate with me"
So it was only fair that I lined up 3 showstopper fragrances for her to blind smell and see if she was right or just "chatt'n" (as she would say)
I find that if you strip back the marketing, the brand name and the cool bottle and just let the fragrance speak, you'll be surprised what it may say to you.
This is a true 'blind' test as Madi will only go by the scent of the perfume and choose the one that draws her attention the most.

you cant go wrong with most of xerjoff's fragrances so your picks were very good as usual, even though i dont think renaisance is so unique and special, it is like a high end designer citrus fragrance, nothing that really stops a show or anything else for that matter... no disrespect though.

I hear you about Renaissance. I think what I love about it, is how it does change from this bright sparkling citrus, to them drydown to a wonderful green vibrant yet retain those citrus notes....I love wearing this as a high summer fragrance and have great memories linked to this perfume (I'm guessing that also helps to lift this perfume in my "I love" ranks)

The only thing that I really don't like is that it is a 50 ml instead of a 100 for the price I truly believe it should be 100 ml.
But it's a pretty intoxicating scent it's addictive and I keep going back to it

Love Xerjoff. It'll be my first summer with Renaissance. I also have Toni Iommi but alas, I had the opportunity to pick up Uden Overdose at a ridiculous price just before Christmas but prioritised other fragrances such as Alexandria II. I have sampled it since though and it's fabulous.

@@TheNicheFragranceCollector Cheers Marcelo. I hope you are well. Let's just say that my Xerjoff collection expanded greatly in 2022. Uden Overdose is currently the only one earmarked for a future purchase.
Following your reviews, I've recently bought 2 Perris Monte Carlo fragrances, namely Mandarino Di Sicilia and Cedro Di Diamante. I was blown away by Mandarino Di Sicilia so much so that I immediately ordered Cedro (which should arrive this week). Arancia Di Sicilia will soon follow. Mandarino made me gasp from the first sniff. It probably has the best citrus opening I have ever smelt and that includes comparable scents such as Nio, Torino 21 and Dior Homme Cologne. Truly wonderful.
Oh and I tried Megamare ONCE again and I STILL don't like it. I've now written it off along with Bergamask.

I have all 3 and love all 3! I bought Renaissance as blind buy bc Naxos was sold out and it’s amazing!! I like Nio slightly better and after getting a sample of Naxos I like Renaissance way more and tbh Naxos is kinda overrated imo. Uden overdose is perfect for summer nights just an amazing fragrance!

Old man scent is what my sister describes fougere/barbershop type scents...typically it's a musky and mossy type fragrance. However I would consider some other things to be more old man-ish too such as tobacco and some resins like frankincense which tend to smell very dusty like an old church. It can lean the opposite direction and smell old lady-ish by adding too much rose/florals or baby powder notes
Burberry london my sister calls an old man scent and those types of tobacco fragrances like naxos & pure havanne too..in my opinion I think YSL caban and YSL caftan very heavy on those dusty/church like resins really smells like old people

Hi There. I just got into the fragrance community last yr and I hope you can recommend something new. Currently I have Xerjoff Naxos, Creed Aventus, PDM Layton, Tom Ford Oud Wood, TF Ombre leather, TF Tuscan Leather and the Roja Elysium. I like all these fragrances and I am looking for a niche fragrance that smells different but not too "out there". What can you recommend? As you can see I have a lot of fresh scents and two leather scents.

Too much fun and laughs, loved it!! Tony Iommi #1 for me, I also love Richwood . Overdose changes on my skin😭. I keep spraying Dean’s work shirt before he puts it on😉👏🏻 . I don’t think he has a functioning nose 🤣🤦🏻♀️ My colleague adores Naxos , I like it when she wears it but again, doesn’t work on me. Tony Iommi is 75, we have the same birthday and month 🤘🏻.. not the year loll.. but not far behind🥴

Secondly, you highlighted a point that I'm always talking about...not all fragrance's smell the same on all people (so blind buying is dangerous business😬). Interesting that both Naxos and Uden Overdose don't work on you....which I feel we need to have a moment of silence for you (😢) but I do like your approach to spraying Dean's shirt...maybe you could do the same on your clothes??

Thoughts on Uden vs Uden Overdose?
I do love Uden...but I reach for Uden Overdose more often. To my nose it projects better and tends to stay with me long (plus whenever I'm wearing it, everyone around me picks up on the fragrance too🥰)

Ah yes....I don't currently own any of the PDM fragrance's. I've tested but haven't crossed over and purchased any (yet). In truth I've really fallen in love with all things Xerjoff and have explored this House in great depth.

The only full bottle (love the Xerjoff presentation!) of Xerjoff I have is Nio, my favorite Xerjoff. Then I have decants of Renaissance and Uden (not overdose). They're OK.

Xerjoff is interesting for me. I want to like them and can see how they're well crafted, but for some reason they always remind me of bathroom air fresheners. Its really quite annoying, but its just what my brain goes to!

@The Niche Fragrance Collector I'll have to keep an eye out for it and give it a try. Admittedly my exposure has mostly been with Xerjoff's more floral/citrus scents: Renneisance, Naxos, Decas, etc. So might be more the citrus side of things than the brand!
Yep, all the ones that you just listed have very strong citrus openings. I would move across to the more floral or woods side of things… You will be impressed with the quality of these fragrances.

FYI. I find the audio level kind of low. I have my volume cranked to 100% and it still needs to be louder. Typically all I need is 40-50% volume to hear clearly.

ah yes...in doing the post production on these episodes it really came forward the interplay and fun that we had filming these. I love Madi's restraint and my tomfoolery🙃...this was me just trying to make her laugh during the filming, but it resulted in some funny dialogue😂
