As you say, a massive underground control bunker, and all the writings on the walls, were the builders worked out how much timber they would need to line the rooms. Radio rooms, control rooms, everything to run a sector of the Atlantic wall. Thank you for taking the time to share this with us, I know how much your were struggling to breath, it must have been awful. EE knows so much now thanks to you and the way you take him with you, a very lucky young man. Stay safe and keep looking after yourself my friend

Yes EE it is an amazing bunker! So massive and a wonderful example of the precision of German engineering. Thank you for the experience of being in the dark underground! The soldiers were well cared for with hot and cold water for showers and clean toilet facilities. An interesting radar installation and secret communications bunker to support the troops that were doing the fighting. Keep well and thank you for smiling and working through your covid! You are an excellent team bringing history to us!

What an adventure, that was brilliant. The size of that place and the layout, when the Germans built they did it so well. I would love to see how it looked when it was in use.

What a Amazing bunker! Lots of room! Hard to imagine what it was like during the War! Lots of work and materials went in to building the Bunker! Great Job showing us the past and get well!

the reason people take the tiles off is because some types have a Waffenamt on the back of them. as a plumber, I have had to remove tiles to remove baths/shower units and basins. so I know that they never come off cleanly all the time. hence why you have smashed tiles in this bunker.
you are correct about the writing and numbers on the walls being written on the walls by tradesmen. as they would have been covered by insulation sheets and not left as bare concrete.
on the left of the entrance door (as you look at it) that you went in. it looks like the filler pipe for the oil tank. it would be interesting to know if that bunker had the exterior painted as a house. as it has granite garden type walls running off from it. as it isn't uncommon for them to paint large block bunkers and the very large naval guns up to camo them in that way.

Absolutely fascinating bunker. You're right about the pipes, Yellow for air extraction. Blue for filtered fresh air. Green for water. Truly amazing seeing all those markings, and calculations, written on the walls, that were once hidden by the timber lining. They would have been done by all the electricians, and the plumbers, and the carpenters, who fitted out the bunker. Great reminder of how much effort, and time, and expertise, went into building something as complex as this. Thank you both for sharing this amazing place with us. That was one impressive structure, trying to imagine how it looked inside before the interiour was removed.

Fantastic bunker and in good shape. Somebodies house has/had nice white ceramic tile in it. It was great to see the TODT engineer notes to the finishing crew on the rooms. Contractors still do it today even though everyone has drawings. This, as always, was well done again. Keep this great work going my friend. The both of you stay safe and ensure you get.

Hey guys wow! That firing bunker was big and amazing! You can get lost in there! I could only imagine what it looked like when it had all the equipment sleeping quarters officers quarters bathrooms and showers etc It was like you said they're home away from home and they had every available thing at their disposal to make it as comfortable as possible. An amazing place! To imagine all the soldiers living there away from their homes seems slightly melancholy. Guys missing their wives and families forced to fight for their country. What a gigantic, labyrinthine construct, HH! Another marvel of German engineering, it's always interesting to me how they were constructed to be aesthetically pleasing. Good work, especially with you fighting the dreaded "C!" Eagle Eyes, take good care of Dad!!!💖

I ventilated structure, HH shouldve waited until he was clear.
This place is amazing. I spent some time in Germany '83-'86 where we built hardened aircraft shelters and bunkers that were not as good as this

What an immense bunker, so many different rooms with a variety of purposes. It must have been quite impressive when in use! I am always impressed with your knowledge of the uses of the rooms and what equipment might have been in place. EE also spots so many details and contributes to help support your efforts! This area had one of the Germans biggest investments so it was attacked many times by the allied air crafts. Great explore and thanks for being here my friend.
That was a lot of serious concrete work. Just can't imagine the amount of work involved to get the forms in place and poured.

This was really cool to see!! Watching you walk through this bunker really gives an accurate sense of how big these structures were and what the lives of the soldiers who used and lived in them were like.

Thanks for taking us there even with you not at your best HH, you soldiered on. Right you were, the control bunker was massive . Just imagine 65 or more soldiers were bunked in there possibly at one time. The Germans sure knew how to do it up right- equipped with electricity, central air, washrooms separate from the enlisted with hot & cold water, showers, toilets. They thought of everything. They were sure precise with their calculations. The permanent range finder up the stairs did have such thick walls. The one doorway was creepy EE. A shame the one room was filling up with water. Was something to see the original writings on the walls and the one drawing of a man's face. Good for you EE for taking on more duties & responsibilities. You are just the man to do it. I bet there's much more to see at that site. No more COVID HH & EE . Please stay safe.
Yes these bunkers had it all and the soldiers there must have had it so comfortable compared to Eastern front ot other battlefields. Great explore that was and thank you for being here Laua :)

Well that was sure something HH and EE. It was a shame that the Panzerkampfwagen bunker with a tank turret wasn't still intact and was filled in. It would have been something to see for sure. Thank you for the pic to show what it would have looked like. Can't believe it took only 5 yrs for the Atlantic coastal wall fortification to be constructed - wow. Don't blame you HH for not wanting to tackle those what I believe are Sea-Buckthorn bushes, as they are very thorny and would be quite nasty. The entrance of the control bunker was impressive and the bunker massive. The Germans thought of everything to keep the officers and enlisted soldiers as comfortable as possible with running hot & cold water, air ventilation, electricity, urinals, toilets. EE was maybe right some of those markings could have been for where all the rifles hung for the 60-70 soldiers. That was a massive bunker indeed. Thank you for taking us there HH and EE. I hope you continue to recuperate from the COVID HH.
Yes there are many buried details there and that is too bad. The bushes were just terrible and leave some nasty blisters. That place is totally amazing to say the least. Thank you Laura for being here with us and please be safe.
Room at 8:25 with tiles. Looks like a battery room. The tiles are called "Darlington Tiles". They are impervious to battery acid spills. The drain goes into the floor for flushing away spills. Two air inputs and two out for removing hydrogen gas during battery charging. Up until 20 years ago this was currant technology.

The writing on the walls may have been the one's who were constructing the bunker. They were probably figuring what it took to cover the walls, and since they would be covered the writing would be hidden.

A fire control bunker was responsible for giving the firing solotions to the various guns under its command.
A firing solotion is the information needed for a gun to hit a target

If the walls were wood-paneled, the writing would be from the time of construction (or maybe after decommission and removal of the wood)

I didn’t notice the first time I watched the video but walkway going into the bunker had a brick edging on the right side. Then it had the grass area with like a brick wall on the back side. I wonder if it was a little garden area for the soldiers to relax and enjoy the outdoors? So many rooms in this bunker I wonder what it looked like when completed with everything in it? I also wonder how many local houses now have the German tiles in them.? Amazing to still see the writings still there.
My thought as well seing that. Just a little area to make it feel like home perhaps. Thanks.
