+King Derner Cousland I wasn't a big fan of the story of SWTOR, imo it's crap.
I think I understand why the so called "fanboys" are upset about Revan being defeated here. This is just my opinion, but I believe its because many of us (myself included) who have played through the original KotOR feel a special connection to Revan. He isn't Darth Vader, or Luke Skywalker, or any of the other Star Wars characters that we watched on the big screen go through their adventures; Revan was us. You know how he said he defeated the Sith? That's because WE made that happen. We walked in his shoes searching for the star maps, fighting dark jedi, recruiting kooky companions, becoming swoop racing champs, and much, much more. In TOR when Revan is fought, we are essentially fighting the memories we created years ago, and upon defeating him, we have to come to terms with the fact that his story - OUR story - has come to an end, and all of the good times we had are just fond memories now. Of course, this is all just how I feel; I could be wrong.

This is so spot on - we WERE Revan and took part in his accomplishments. There's no pleasure in fighting those very positive memories.

I remember playing through this dungeon for the first time and it still hurts to watch this. Revan could have been SWTOR's Illidan Stormrage. Instead, he's reduced to being a boss in a crappy dungeon. What a horribly written end for a great character.

The music theme when he says "...he made me a sith lord and named me Darth Revan..." I'm watching a character that I grew with and watch turn from sith to jedi turn back to the dark. IMO it feels like Anakin and Obi wan on mustafar almost.

Sorry for dredging up a two-year-old comment, but the music playing in the background when he says that *is* the music from Anakin & Obi-Wan's last scene together on Mustafar. It's either called "Anakin's Betrayal", "Lament", or "The Immolation Scene". They all contain a motif called "The Descent Motif", which is usually used in the movies to show Anakin's fall.

@@Cat_With_A_Lamp I remember liking the Revan novel though. He suffers a brutal defeat to emperor and the Exile dies for it, but it was very impactful. It was published up to the initial release of SWTOR as promotional material and therefor after KoTOR 2, but it was good. Probably also helps that it was written by Karpyshyn.
@@oOPPHOo I read it, and it completely ignores KOTOR 2, there the threat the sith triumvirate posed no longer exists, it's just "some" jedi renegade Kreia, who in KOTOR 2 jedi considered dead and knew nothing of her and everyone who knew who she actually was died. Let me remind you that the destruction of Katar and further jedi purges committed by Darth Sion and his assassins pretty much destroyed the order, and they just shrug it off like it's a no big deal, just some jedi renegade, barely an inconvenience.
Character of The Exile is also turned into a blind follower of Revan, the only jedi that came back after the mandalorian wars to face trial now acts like revan is her icon, she blindly follows revan and pays for it.
And Revan himself, he regains ALL of his memories once puts his mask on but goes to fight the emperor unprepared. He knew about the sith empire during mandalorian wars, found out about it on Malachor in Ttrayus academy and he started building his army back then. He built HK-50 factory on Taris, he started to convert jedi into his followers (sometime through torture), he build an entire army of sith assassins that feed on the force (the same army triumvirate used to destroy the jedi order), he even might have cause all the republic casualties during final battle above Malachor, because pretty much every republican officer that died there wasn't Revan's biggest fan. And few years later he built an entire empire so can take over the republic and make it ready for the threat /of the true sith empire.
And here comes the novel, Revan remembers it all (but Karpyshyn clearly doesn't) and decides to take the emperor all by himself, the same emperor, as stated by the novel, broke his and Malak's will with little issue, made them into his slaves for a time. And he does that after years spent in his cell, but i guess he was ready despite his weakened state.
So if it was Karpyshyn's decision to ignore what Kotor 2 brought into the series and character of Revan in particular, then my opinion of him would really drop. But something tells me it was Bioware, since even in their latest ops in swtor they once again butcher the established lore. Outside of that there are some codex entries that do not make any sense, for example the one about the Exchange . It is stated there that the Exchange crumbled after the death of Davik Kang who barely had any impact on the Exchange, he just supervised business on Taris, the destruction of which had little to no impact on the syndicate as a whole. When disappearance of Goto (G0-T0), highly intelligent crime lord that supervised an entire sector , would have much larger impact. But they never even mentioned him

Yeah when I saw him attacking with a blaster I was like "this couldnt get any more dumb" then finding out that they defeated Revan.. I was like "yeah, now it cant get more dumb"
I'm going to be more fair, because I've actually played the fight.
HK doesn't just 'attack them with a blaster'. He uses his Sniper Rifle, yes, but he also uses a stealth field, knives, gas and smoke grenades, and more importantly, he deploys a metric fuckton of battle droids to support him, attacking the party from all sides using said Battle Droids. That's a tactic that has merit; HK uses his stealth field and equipment for tactical flexibility, while the Droids distract and surround the enemy.
Saying that he 'just uses a blaster' is disingenuous to what actually happened there.

Now that Disney has declared ToR uncanon, someone needs to get off their ass and make a KoToR 3. Put Revan back in a story that he belongs in.
They also declared KOTOR non-canon, so no KOTOR 3.
Doesn't matter if its non-canon, it still allows them to make a Kotor 3.

Sure this also means that the amazing Kotor is also not part of the canon, but I'd rather both be uncanonized... if that's the only way we can remove the damage done by TOR to the Star Wars universe.

Orenos Yep i did, i realy tried to play that game, i had a jedi knight, a sith inquisitor and BH up to lvl 55~~60ish, dont remmenber wich was the max level at the time.
Soo yeah, i played the game, and i can say, this is a mediocre WOW clone...the gameplay feels the exact same. They didnt add anything new in comparison to the generic 'wow' formula aside from the 'interactive sotry' where everything you do has 0 meaning, if MF and DA series gave the illusion of making your choices matter, this one is to lazy to even give that ilusion, since everyone forgets your jedi butchered some inocent people 5 minutes ago, its like everyone has fucking amnesia every 2 minutes or something..That aply to companions too, since there was this comp 'Doc' i believe, i treated the dude like garbage, but since i couldnt lose relations with him and kept giving him some gifs, by the end of my story the dude was treating me like his best friend.
They couldnt decide what they where going for when they made this, its like they wanted to make a singleplayer game but then forced into transforming it into a mmo...The game has a decent story, but thats it...while playing the story the game feels like playing a single player game with a realy, REALY crapy gameplay and a chat where you can communicate with other people.
And when you try to play it as a mmo, doing raids(flashpoints or ops) or pvp you'll tyre of it quickly because the game just lacks content since they put too much effort on customization and voice acting.
Soo, i guess the joke's on you, huh?

This storyline is complete crap. I know for sure that Revan and the Exile vs even the emperor it would always be Revan and the Exile. This storyline is saying that the emperor easily defeated the life AND the death of the force working together. That's impossible. (Revan is quoted the life of the force, Exile quoted to be the death of it.)

coolnobodycares it didin't take all of them to kill him revan got completely stomped he didnt even manage to kill any of the non force users before he lost. also look at the cutscene just before the fight with him his force push doesn't even severally injure the non force users it hits. compare that to vader who was able to casually kill 12 non force users with a single force push or bane who leveled a massive rakattan temple ( the one revan goes in in kotor before he heads to the star forge) with a single force push.

This is not MY version of Revan. The Dark Lord Of The Sith would have never been defeated by Emperor Vitiate.

The Rebellious Sith however, saw a second future, 300 years later, and built flaws into the Prison, so that, 300 years later, a hero from tython would rise, free Reven, and defeat the emperor.

This is just so frustrating to have to watch. Revan is without a doubt my favorite character of Star Wars. Why did you feel the need to add him to this game? If you wanted to clear up what happened after KOTOR 1 then just say he went off to fight the Empire once he regained his memories. He began the resistance movement that would spread across multiple Sith worlds. Eventually he died either in battle, or hell better yet of old age! He is human after all! But to bring back Revan to 'give conclusion to the storyline', and then have him die in a battle against 4 start ups, it's ridiculous. All I wanted was KOTOR 3. Wrap up the story a proper way. Now we'll never get it.

i read an interview with the former lead writer of swtor. the interview is actually pretty old but i never knew about it. he said: "remember, you never see him die; he just vanishes. We left that door open on purpose."
so that should answer that. the answer is that there is no answer yet. if he never reappears in swtor he still might just as well be alive somewhere.

The only thing I don't like about this is that it just tells you that all of your old companions from KOTOR 1 and 2 just died, with no more explanation. There is little reference to any of them throughout the course of the whole story. Bioware could have done much better on that front.
Actually this only tells you that The Exiled died. Revan left all his companions behind.

I know they would have died naturally by this era, even if they didn't die other ways, but you'd think that some of them would have left a legacy of their own. It wouldn't make much sense that not one of them had a family or something like that. They don't even get a mention in SWTOR, besides the wearable outfits.

I played this flashpoint and lvl 50 hm with a friend. We reached revan and fought him and lost. But it felt so damn good to see Revan kicking our asses
My favorite part of this fight: "Revan is becoming more powerful than you can possibly imagine."
What Bioware did to Revan is comparable to Leonardo Da Vinci painting Mona Lisa and then wiping his ass with it.

Guillem Moreno I think people are upset that Revan was killed for two reasons:
1. The understandable reason: Revan is the protagonist of the KotOR games and this people became attached to their character. I never played them but could kind of understand this argument.
2. The not so understandable reason: Revan canonically should not have lost this fight because due to bad writing Revan becomes more or less invincible. Apparently he has wiped out several hundred sith warriors and masters in quick succession without using force powers due to the evil in the air or whatever. That's kind of fucking ridiculous. It's logistically nonsensical that the Sith could not surround him and let one or two people get a stab in or something. Revan's character sort of had to die at some point anyways and while they could have made a third KotOR game they would have to find some way for Revan to unlearn his power because otherwise he would curbstomp everything.
I never see any one comment on how revan addresses HK's death. It always gets me how he states that he waited so long and how he was loyaland then it hurts even more when he says it wont be the same. So much hurt in his voice.

Honestly, Revan has killed armies of Mandalorians and sith before. I don't think any average sith or Jedi should have been able to defeat him, especially because Revan feeds off both the light and dark side of the force (he balances on the knifes edge of the two powers) which make him a more powerful warrior than any on either side of the scale.
I'll happily align with the ending that he escaped. If he just became one with the force like Obi-Wan I'd be pretty pissed too . . .

It's considered Legends meaning they still might turn some of it into Canon. They aren't completety getting rid of everthing.

If you didn't know, Exile died 300 years ago and became a ghost that kept Revan safe while the emperor tried to corrupt him.

Revan spent 300 years inside the mind of the emperor, a man who fully intends to kill the known universe to become immortal, fighting an impossible battle, trying to turn back a Tsunami with an electric fan and you find it weird that when he gets out his solution to end the indescribable monstrousness of the Emperor is to slaughter all the Sith? It's the only thing he thinks he can do, he doesn't see any other options, in his mind if he doesn't do this all life in the galaxy will be extinguished. Revan may never have liked genocide, but he always did what was necessary for victory, that's pretty much what sums up Revan's character. Don't get me wrong, Revan's final chapter and ending could have been better (essentially by not making it a MMORPG), but it could have been a hell of a lot worse.
Mostly because anything that has Sith genetic material can probably be a spy, a child, or a vessel for the Emperor's essence and spirit. Revan's being thorough. Stupid, but thorough.

As people have commented below, i agree that it is a *real* disservice to the original main character of the three games (KOTOR 1 and 2 and SWTOR) that he makes a short cameo and is immediately killed off. He didn't play any important role in any story and, if i'm not mistaken, you could completely skip this part and still complete the game.

Did YOU even play TSL? It was never about the Sith, the Jedi, or the Republic. All that ever mattered was the Exile and what he/she was and could become. It was the Exile's journey and Kreia forging her ultimate apprentice through manipulation and the his/her wound in the force.

The universe is more than the Manichean vision that both groups can offer. They could learn a lot from Nietzsche: "The conviction is a prison" and from the Order of the Assassins as well: "Nothing is true, everything is permitted" Gray users of the force can see beyond the tree and realize how great and complex the universal jungle are.

I've been replaying the KOTOR games, and when I listen to the philosophies from both the Jedi and the Sith, I just want to tell them to shut the fuck up because I feel like they're all almost completely wrong, with the Jedi being at least somewhat less wrong (since the Jedi at least have a mostly good sense of morality, whereas the Sith do not).

I can relate to exile/meetra surik more than anyone in any story. She was the living embodiment of abandonment, literally everyone turned their backs on her and even with her wound in the force she was the most lonely person ever, and kreia wanted to use that wound to destroy the force all together which would also end all life.
I feel that way a lot, I have been all alone for all Christmases, thanksgivings and my birthdays for the last 5 years, and I want to just die and stop existing and sometimes want this entire planet to be destroyed.
