SW:TOR - Revan boss fight (The Foundry HM, Solo)

- This video features the final boss fight against Revan in the Foundry flashpoint from Star Wars: The Old Republic. Note that I ran the fp on hard mode and solo (I didn't use even a companion) at level 60.
For being a previous playable character and, well, Revan for fuck's sake, Revan isn't that menacing as the final boss of the Foundry, to the point that the previous encounter, HK-47, routinely gives the players far more trouble.
The fight against Revan is divided in two phases:
- In his first, "balance" phase, the boss will just use melee attacks and occasionally perform a master strike which will stun the targeted player for its duration. Revan will also try to activate his power of the Force ability, which is channeled and will seriously boost his attacks if it's cast: it must be interrupted
- After losing roughly half is health, Revan will enter is "power of the dark side phase" and gains two new ability: Force lighting and Force storm. Before casting the latter he will pull the whole group near him and slow them, forcing you to escape the AoE range as soon as possible. Once he'll lose even more health, Revan will drop several asteroids on the arena, which inflict a truckload of damage but can be easily avoided by watching out for the purple marks on the ground
Once near death, Revan will disengage the party, a cutscene will start and you'll be able to access his loot and complete the flashpoint - Hry
If only there was an option to join him instead of fighting him

It's melancholy hearing Revan remember his friend. Everyone else hated Malak but Alek was always his friend and ultimately still viewed him that way.
@@andreshipp6212 At the end of the Light Side ending in KOTOR, Darth Malak says "In the end, as the Darkness takes me , I am nothing". Another reason for believing he was speaking about Malak was that they were very close friends during their jedi training, the Mandalorian Wars and before their fall to the Dark Side
Anyone else giggle...you defeat the Great Revan only to be given a big chest of MMO items. It is kinda weird.

@@skell6134 To be fair Revan was stuck in a cage pretty much for nearly a couple hundred something years he was extremely washed up.
Revan reborn on the other hand he was easily at his most powerful.

Revan mourning malak was the most interesting part of his character in this game and as far as I can tell it’s never brought up again

When I did this flashpoint, especially while fighting Revan, I got chills as all that lore and KOTOR-esque music just jumped right at me. As Revan "dies" at the end of the fight, I felt pretty emotional. BioWare truly did a great job with this duel.
When you approach Revan, Great Jedi Purge (Order 66) plays. Dat pull at the heartstrings 😭👍🏼

It kills me that the most powerful sith, and one of the most powerful jedi, AND one of the most powerful beings to have ever lived gets such a shitty role in The Old Republic... one of my favorite characters ever and he gets beat that easily.
They tried to redeem it after the backlash, too me I just view this Revan as a shadow of his former self, his spirit nearly split into two, having been drained consistently by vitiate, he was insane, unbalanced mostly. wouldn't say he is even at his darth revan version in strength.

I liked revan in Kotor 1 and loved him in 2. This was a horrible end for his character . That said the fight is great.

@@Arcos211 basically if you get your rep high enough with kreia she will tell you about revan. And she will provide insights about why he did the things he did and the kind of person that he was. My personal favorite was when you get high enough she explains that he didn't fall to the dark side. He chose it. He understood what was coming and in many ways sacrificed himself to become the thing that could save the galaxy even though it was horrific. His"redemption" where he lost his memory merely just allowed the old revan to resurface
@@andrewostman3135 But can you believe a Sith? In the Revan book it is clearly stated that the emporer manipulated his mind and made Revan a Dark Lord against his actual wills. He states that he has developed a method to shield him from the emporers influence, right before they (the banished, Scourge the fucking traitor and revan) face the emporer again, so that it wont happen again to them to become sith.
Is there any sign of kreia in Swtor btw? She was awesome in kotor 2 but i always wonderd how she fitted in the narritiv (as well as nihilius, like where did all the sith come from so suddenly? And how did the jedi order collapse in kotor 2 when they acutally won in kotor 1?)
@@Arcos211 I believe her. To be fair, I don't accept the latter book as part of it all. I look those games one and two as basically being the series. I know that's cherry picking but I read the book when it came out and I wasn't impressed by it. It just lacked a lot of the flavor that was created around his character

That's the assassin class, the progression of sith inquisitor. It's the more duel prone side of the inquisitor as opposed to an alchemist. However the majority of it is still on the usage of force powers for what depends on the chosen skill tree. Tank, DPS...or the rare used PvP.
Its mirror is the Jedi Shadow class progression of consular and plays virtually identical. I did experiment with hybridizing DPS and Tanking for my shadow but I didn't have a chance with it for long enough to make anything of it. It did okay earlier on but you will run into trouble later if you don't commit to just one skill tree or the other.
Perks are stealth mode and versatility. As a tank it is more successful at drawing aggro than the other two but it's also much more highly dependent on mitigating and avoiding damage because it can't quite soak up the same punishment as the other two either. If you do go that route, you might perhaps invest in a more solid healer companion than what is given. However I don't know what's offered on the Empire side. Republic side you almost have to go out of your way to get a different companion than Qyzen to heal. The trandoshan is better for combat, but it seemed at that time they wanted him to be either tank or DPS tank.

Nah. Too anti-climactic. I like the expansion pack ending because it emphasized on his duality and ended with him accepting harmony and death.

Undoubtably.
He was stronger than most Jedi and Sith to have ever existed and could've dominated everyone we've seen on screen in this game except the Emperor himself, that's reserved for Meetra Surik who was even stronger than Revan. He may have never reached the Rank of Jedi Master but he definitely has taught several people in more ways than one

jd grinder the character is still canon, there’s rumours they’ve now taken KOTOR off the shelf for a reimagining. Tbh, I like what Disney is doing with Star Wars because beforehand, everything was made canon and quite a bit of it was ridiculous so I’m happy that Disney has removed all the side stories to legends so they can take what they want from it and make a nice clean timeline

The combat in this game was awful
Way better than that awful KOTOR gameplay style
If your focus on KOTOR is the combat, you don't play it right. Of course the super old roll 20 combat isn't as good as a more modern MMO.
@@OmegaTheMyth I'm torn, because I honestly enjoyed the combat. Obviously the story moreso. Which is why I really liked Dragon Age: Origins, but not DA2. DA2 hurt my soul.
