    Gorgeous dresses. I love style Arc, in my opinion their patterns are very well designed. I believe their patterns are not for beginner dressmakers. I think a lot of sewers have possibly been spoilt with instructions from indie pattern companies.

    I’m definitely in love with this pattern and it’s expansion pack. You’ve given such great advice for each make - thank you! I love the result of the flutter sleeve for your viscose version, without the cuff. No real favourite, I loved them all. But I personally have a pear figure, and i like the tie from your first dress, but I also love the tie die Beach theme of your second where you’ve downsized, plus I love the faux wrap… really, there’s something I love about all of them. Looking forward to your Montana review.

    I love all your versions, but the last one with the Lady McElroy fabric is just stunning! I’ve been tempted by this pattern but I’m not sure the “buffet” type dresses and this high neck would suit me. Now that I’ve seen your version with the ties at the waist and the keyhole detail, I think I’m going to have to give it a try! I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the Montana because I’ve been tempted by that one too! Great video - thank you! 💞

      I’ve recently been looking at a 3 year old vlog by Kristin from The Dahlia Sewciety regarding Stylearc patterns and nothing regarding their instructions (or lack of) seems to have been taken on board. It’s such a pity as I really like a few of their patterns but it puts me off buying them because of that. I’m a not a beginner BUT I suppose lack confidence and prefer clear instructions regardless of what the pattern is for. 😊

    • @whatbecsews
      @whatbecsews  Před rokem +1

      I can understand that, I must admit there is a few I love the look of that sit more at an intermediate level that I havent got for these reasons, I have now started doing a bit of a search on the patterns beforehand as I find Minerva and other vloggers often do sew alongs which can help you through the lack of instructions when you reach that scratch your head moment :-)

    I absolutely love the wrap front - I've been waiting for your review and you do not disappoint! I do love them all but adore the bright fabric of the last look [the button down]. However the wrap version is definitely the one for me. It seems a little less smock like and a bit more sophisticated. I do think they all look great but my jaw dropped at the wrap! I am also thinking of making the Montana so really excited you are going to review these. I really like Style Arc instructions - they are quite simple but do assume you know how to finish off and press and line pieces up etc. I was very nervous of using a Style Arc pattern but find them modern, original and seem quite straightforward. Having said all this - next thing is I won't have a clue what they mean when I next sew an outfit LOL. I always love your reviews - thankyou!! Sue x

    Hi Becky. Loved your versions of the hope dress. Out of interest where did you add the inch on the bodice, at the side or on the length? I've looked at that pattern before, but wasn't sure if I would like it, but now I think I might like to try it.
    Also, you mentioned the Montana Dress. I have that one and I made it when I was very overweight during lockdown, but I lost about 1.5 stone and then I found it fitted better in the bust, but was really oversized, so I added elastic in the back waist seam and it made a huge difference. However, as I have quite a large bust, the length of the bodice was great. Perhaps when I make it again, I might put a dart in the side to give the bust a bit of shape, but stick with the size I used. I'll have to think about it. I too bought the expansion pack and wanted to try some of those styles too. I made it in the white double gauze from the Hayley Jane box, and she put a picture of me in it, in the magazine the next month. It is lovely with double gauze.
    I have done a few of the Style Arc patterns, and yes, the aren't brilliant for instructions but, like you, I managed to get through them.

    • @whatbecsews
      @whatbecsews  Před rokem

      Hi, Firstly thank you :-)
      So I added the inch to the length on the bodice, just so it sat slightly lower. of you have a larger bust I really recommend it.
      The pattern instructions are never great on style arc, but I always find a bit of experience and you tube if your really get stuck, you can always muddle through.
      I have a Blue double gauze with gold leaves on it that is tempting me to make another version with, but I am planning my Montana's next :-)

    Hi Bec, I'm a beginner and I'm struggling with the Hope extension pack. I want to sew the wrap version (bodice B) with the cuff sleeves (2). I don't understand how to place the pattern on the fabric. Ie pattern pieces 17 Says to cut on the fold but the diagram shows it near the selvedge. I'm making up a toile first in a size 14 but I think I may need to make it up in the 12. I can do that once I have mastered the toile. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me. X
