Hi, not trying to be rude but I thought you should know that the variation in temperature and the changing seasons is not because of the difference in distance from the sun, it's the incident angle of the light from the sun at a particular part of the planet at a particular time of year. During the winter, the incident angle of the light coming from the sun at that location is more oblique and during the summer, the incident angle is more squared off. The more oblique the incident angle, the less energy is being absorbed by the atmosphere and earth, and so the lower the temperature. I know this video is a little old so this is probably too little too late but I wanted to make sure you knew for the future! As for the tips you suggest, I appreciate everything you have to say!

Thanks for the video. I'm going into my second winter experience, roughly 150 unique plants this year, and I wanted to share some of my tips. I use a ultrasound diffuser with peppermint and cinnamon essential oils once a week for pest control. I also add epsome salt to my water every second or third cycle to give the roots a bit of a boost. I also in between the epsome salt add some hydrogen peroxide to address any root rot issues because the plants aren't using as much water. I do use a water meter, but there is nothing wrong with a little insurance. Much love my plant friends

I would suggest a cheap and easy way to make a greenhouse over your plants. Its not pretty but it works in a pinch. Putting a clear plastic bag over the plant has saved a few of my humidity and moisture loving plants like ferns. I got a humidifier this year and it's so much less stressful:). This year I have alocasia and calatheas so they are snug up beside the humidifier. If you have a jar that is big enough that would go over your plant then that is more aesthetically pleasing and you can put the jar over a humidity tray too. I heat my house with a wood fire stove so my air is super dry and this works. 😁

I have succulents with a lot of farina on the leaves that don’t react well to neem oil. If you’re preemptively treating your plants, it’s important to know what plants you have and how they’ll react to changes, including pest management. Your insecticidal soap will work perfectly for tropicals, but if you’re treating succulents, I’d suggest leaving out the neem and maybe even increasing the amount of alcohol.

Super helpful video. Thank you for sharing 🙏 I especially lit up over how you use grow lights. Brilliant! That resonates with what plants would naturally want as they are not in sunlight 24/7 out in nature. Just LOVE your backdrop😍

Thank you for this video!! I live in Minnesota now and have been wondering about getting my plants through winter. Weirdly, my plants are doing much better here than the ones I had in L.A.! I owe it to having a huge south facing bay window now, and increased humidity.

I’m from Curitiba (city), Paraná (state) in Brazil! Here (Brazil) we (Curitiba) are know to be a really cold capital city! It’s because is really high up in the mountains and it’s south of the country, which helps 😜 our day is really weird, it starts with 15C°, by lunch is about 20C°, until 3PM is 25C°, it rains, the temperature drops and the sun hides out🤣 of course it varies from day to day and which season it is, but it’s never too cold so there’s snow 🙄🥺 the coldest it gets here is about 2C° MAX.

OOOOO!!! omggg the set uppp!!! I love the black contrast, the gold 3D mirrors, the floating shelfff~ ahhh Beautiful. Also the way my mouth dropped when you said "may the odds be ever in my favor" I'm in Wisconsin and the seasons are starting to change TT hence the panic and realization that my plants are already hungry for light

I just put all of my houseplants in my grow tent with a heater and humidifier. I can’t afford living in a place with central heating lol and it is about 5 degrees in my room. I’m freezing over here but my plants are enjoying 30 degrees and 80 percent humidity lol.

This video came at the right time for me, this is going to be my first winter as a plant mom here in Toronto and I’m a little bit worried about it.
Small plants I know they will be fine, but I wonder what I’m going to do with my 4 monster ferns that I bought during the summer, because they reminded me my home country, and now they are parking on my office floor taking away all the walkable space in the room.
