- Human beings, with their ridiculous "emotions" and their limited processing power, are fundamentally ill-equipped for a task as complex as finding a romantic partner. Only a mighty computer - like the Honeywell 200 - with its infallible logic and ability to cope with dozens of variables, is up to the job.
Tomorrow's World is in Manhattan, where some 2000 invited guests are attending a party organised by the computer dating service TACT. TACT - which stands for Technical Automated Compatibility Testing - is the brainchild of Bob Ross, a computer programmer at IBM, and accountant Lewis Altfest. It uses computers to process data from questionnaires devised by clinical psychologist Dr. Salvatore V. Didato, in order to match people across three levels of compatibility: "socio-cultural"; "opinions and values" and "psychological".
With a computer in charge, those in attendance are all but guaranteed to find true love.
Originally broadcast 16 November, 1966.

Wonderful find. Loving the subtle British cynical observations; and the 60s fashion. Marvellous
These clips are gold! I love this channel.
That TACT founder certainly seems like an expert on 'fun'.
It said he was an expert on sex too, LMAO! Ok, professor.
@@samaraisntHe’s giving me “ghosting after sex” vibes
What a groovy,happening clip😀,love the ladies in mod clothes.😀
5:28 - stringing your company name between two rubbish bins is maybe not best PR approach in raising brand awareness.
3:13 *The* Bob Ross, or just *a* Bob Ross?
So interesting to see variables etc back then...
Wow. Fascinating.
I'd love to hear how things worked out for that couple who broke their engagement and then gave it another go when the computer re-matched them!
And also those siblings.
He became a cuckold

very cool
In fact they do… mine goes everywhere in my pocket 😁
“And… it’s just $5 Dollars (just under £2 pounds)” Sigh - Ah yes! the good ole days!! Back when we didn’t even know the word “trillion”. But hey! It can process a million matches! (Your Apple Watch does that millions of times in a millisecond every day now). It also does make me wonder what this world will be like in 2124? I was born in the wrong era.
The main thing I got from this is why was that New York trumpet guy making such a big deal about playing music in a public place on Columbus day when people were having open air concerts in the '60s on Columbus day?
Ridiculous idea, it'll never work!
The narcissists trying to get into the frame behind the interview. Lol.
Variables... 😂🤷🏼♀️
2:00 it's the 60s version of Jordan Peterson!
I wonder how many people got married from this. I just got engaged with my partner from tinder lol
Congratulations!! I wish you both a long, happy marriage.
I think computers are still rubbish at this sort of thing. I met my fiance online but just through mutual friends. Online dating sites were rubbish.
The match between the brother and sister made me chuckle. In New York,no,it wouldn't likely go down too well;but in Alabama,or,over here in Cumbria,I think it would have been a match made in heaven
Damn, Karens existing in the 1960s (2:15)... 'how dare you give my friend options that were 20 years older than her!'... 'did we do that?'... 'well, no...'
