- How to put the vehicle in the parking brake maintenance mode in order to replace rear brakes on a 2013 to 2016 ford fusion. This must be performed first before depressing the caliper pistons.
You’re a lifesaver, sitting here at 9pm on a work night for an hour and a half trying to pry the caliper back only to figure out I have to press 3 buttons first. Thank you
I have a 2011, but it was interesting to learn this! Thanks
great explanation! thanks!
Thank you so much for this you just saved me a whole lot of hell
Hey thanks! The instructions are same as on F-150 with it electronic parking brakes.
What happens if you took it all apart and didnt put it in service mode?
I have a 2015 and I just did the rear brakes with out putting it in anymore. Just retracted the pistons and threw them back on. I will do the front brakes tomorrow..

I've got a 2014 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid and was told that you need a computer to retract the pistons (by the dealer tech). I'm wondering if it's really just needing to know this sequence here to go into maintenance mode and then depress the calipers per a normal brake job. the MKZ Hybrid has an electronic parking brake, which is why this sounds like it would work for me. Not sure if the hybrid bit makes a difference to the changing pads/rotors in the rear? Any idea? I'm looking everywhere and having a hard time finding good info on this. Thanks!
Thanks 🙏
how do you release it from service mode
I just replace the rear brake but the light won’t go of and it won’t go into maintenance mode any idea?
Does the Ford Taurus use the same?
I can't get my caliper to retract. I've tried everything. Please, could you help, thanks!
This works on a 2015 edge with electronic parking brakefyi
This works for mkz 2
Man you save my ass
Does this help with replacing the front brakes or is there a different process?
KingJustice98 just back breaks.
No. To compress the front brakes, which I have done on a 2016 Ford Edge, use a large C clamp. Put the old pad on the piston and crank down the C clamp. This works on most vehicles I have worked on.
But how to do it on titanium trim, one without the key?
Same way, but one push of the button is like turning key dorward one click and another push while holding gas and e-brake down turns car off and finally push the button again.
How many miles on it when you replaced the rears
Go by wear not miles. Could be up to 80,000 miles for some people, less then 40k for others.
Why Does Your Ford Fusion Has A Police Interceptor Chime
My 2011Fusion has the same chime...
how do you undo the service mode. I can't find a video for it.

How you put it in mant mode with a keyless system?
OOPS padilla Same exact way. Just with the push button.
So your saying I don't have to spin my caliper in on my 2013 fusion? They can just press in?? I saw a video of a 2014 and someone screwing it in so was just curious
Paul Frye You can just press the piston in when in service mode you do not have to spin the piston in. If the inboard pad has a centering pin you can rotate the piston to line up with it. But rotate the piston counter clockwise just till the pin is lined up.
butt
Lies I have a 2013 fusion it is a screw type caliper this video just cost me one caliper don’t watch this guy
