I just did the same thing on a 2017 Ford Escape , it works exactly the same way, I called my mechanic , he said I had to hook scanner tool, but was able to successfully change rear brakes by putting it in to Blake maintenance mode, and successfully take it out of brake service mode, the rear brake pistons were able to retract and brake service was successful, thank you so much for the you tube info.
That alarm was driving me crazy! Garage guru you saved my sanity. Awesome video!!!
Super helpful video. Very straightforward explanation.
Thank you so much for this video, it worked exactly as you demonstrated!!! Very useful and quick video!!
This video was very helpful manage to do a brake job on a customers fusion thanks for the video.
This should go viral 💯
Thanks you have the best video this helped me out two years ago and is helping me out again
does this same procedure work on a 2016 fusion se
Massive thanks car gurus 💪👍👍
Since 2013 lincoln mkz have the same break system would I have to do the same thing
Thank You, perfectly clear.
what happens if you do spin the caliper piston to compress it? i did so without thinking about it and put a new caliper on, i had the electric parking brake actuator off of the caliper when i did this, now i think the new caliper is stuck closed i can smell it on my new pads, do you think i broke my caliper by spinning it?
Does this apply to the Ford Taurus 2013
Great video now i can do my fusion brakes the mechanic always told me that I need i computer for the electronic piston to retract
Does this work for 2015 f150
Great video super helpful
I got my breaks changed without changing it into maintenance mode, i have new breaks but now it’s giving me break malfunction error. Should I try this method ??
Thank you SO Much for making this video!! I did not know this and thought last time I changed my brakes I broke the electric motor. Was getting a parking brake malfunction message on the dash. but then I just did this and it calibrated the brakes and all is well. Parking brake functions like normal again. Thanks again!
NorthernPorter hey good day the same problem happens to me do you change the electric motor? Or just do what the video said?
Javier Garcia Same here yesterday man. What did you do?
Absolute GOLD!
You know back in a day as a kid we used to go in Dads car and play with every button there was. What happens if kids gets in there and deactivates it with out you knowing it then you just jump in and drive it?
very nice video, thanks! But I have a question: I need to do the front brakes. is there also a special procedure for that??
There is no special procedure for front brake service on that vehicle.
That was nice of Ford to allow this to be done without special tool, unlike audi, vw, bmw, mercedes etc.
Great Info Thanks...do you know how to do it on a 2015 fusion titanium with the push button start and no key??.....
Great question! Feel free to give our tech line a call and they can assist you with this. The Gurus Tech Hotline number is 800-325-8886.
This method won’t help you for that one
@@derekgray1633 Yes it will, I just did one...Same thing with the push button, just don't touch the brake pedal activating engine start.
Thank you !!!
Thank you
What if I serviced the brakes without ever putting the ebrake in service mode. Seem now both rear wheels are locked up, any tilps? Can I manually retract the ebrakes?
Did you figure out how to fix your issue? We are now having this issue with my vehicle 😒
Questions: I just got my rear breaks fix and that is when the light started. So my question is: is these steps that u just did is all i need to do and my car is fixed????

What happens when you don’t do that before you change your brakes
It won’t let you retract the caliper if you don’t 😂
I never bothered with that. I put the vehicle in neutral, and shut off the key. Then i raise the vehicle up with the emergency brake released. Unplug the electrical connector to the caliper. Open the brake bleeder. Take off the caliper, and push back / retract the caliper piston. Replace the pads and rotors. reassemble everything. Bleed the brakes. Last step, plug the caliper back in. Done. I have been doing this for years.
When I went to reactivate it didn't.. I can hear the motors trying to realign but now I only hear clicking. car won't even start. It is like there was some electrical error. Disconnected the battery but still didn't help

2008?
what if we dont do this and now the light flashes
did you find a fix for flashing lights if you didnt do this first
We tried this method several times and all it did was push the piston out and we could not push it back in.
same did you find a fix
Same happened to me. Piston fell out of the calipers. Now i need new calipers.
@@theemikecee Just had the same happen to me today.
better to just do it with a scanner
Fy
Fart three times snap your fingers and it will disengage
Another stupid idea from ford.
