    I wrote the steps down so you can print them out.
    To engage Park Brake Maintenance Mode:
    1: Turn ignition ON. Do not start engine.
    2: Hold down accelerator pedal.
    3: Hold down E brake button.
    4: Turn ignition OFF.
    5: Turn ignition back on within 5 seconds.
    You should now be in Park Brake Maintenance Mode.
    To disengage Park Brake Maintenance Mode:
    1: Turn ignition ON. Do not start engine.
    2: Hold down accelerator pedal.
    3: Pull up on E brake button.
    4: Turn ignition OFF.
    5: Turn ignition back on within 5 seconds.
    You should now be back to a clear window and ready to drive.

    I can't thank you enough for being clear, concise, and to the point. Didn't know Ford had this on their cars and when I had the caliper pried off my girlfriend's car and couldn't get the Piston to retract, the last thing I would have wanted was to watch a fifteen minute video explaining the inner workings of the universe. Parking brake got stuck because I pulled the button 3times in a row. I could not release it with the standard procedure (brake pedal and pushing the parking brake button) . I tried the procedure to go into service mode, it never worked. Maybe because I have the stupid message saying I got the tire sensor problem (I don't have them in my winter tire)... Anyhow. The service message never turned yellow. However, after that I was able to release the brake wby pushing the brake pedal while pushing the parking brake button...

    Do you know if this is the same procedure for a Lincoln MKZ Hybrid? I know the MKZ is essentially a fusion, so I'm guessing it would work. I'm also wondering if the calipers on the lincoln would have the same "push in" vs "screw in" pistons? Any intel would be greatly appreciated!

    • @Gangweezy
      @Gangweezy  Před 5 lety +1

      This procedure usually works on all Ford models 2013 and up I believe the calipers on the MKZ are screw-in calipers, but if you have an electronic parking brake when you put the vehicle in service mode you should be able to just push in the rear caliper piston. Hope that helps good luck💪💪

    • @100percentJeff
      @100percentJeff Před 5 lety +2

      I've definitely read people saying the rear calipers are screw-in on the mkz, but also a bunch of people saying you can just push them in during maintenance mode...just never the same person saying both things at the same time! so this is definitely helpful, and I appreciate your input! Is there an obvious difference in feel if i start trying to push the caliper back in during maintenance mode and it really needs to be screwed-in still?

    • @Gangweezy
      @Gangweezy  Před 5 lety +1

      @@100percentJeff you can usually tell by the face of the caliper piston, they usually have notches on the side of them. But from my experience when it's in service mode they pushed back with minimal effort, if there's ANY excess resistance STOP and try and spin them in💪💪

      Activation
      WARNING: Service actions on vehicles equipped with electronic parking brakes may cause unexpected parking brake application, which could result in injury to hands or fingers. Put the electronic parking brake system into service mode prior to servicing or removing rear brake components. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.
      NOTE: EPB (electronic parking brake) service mode is also known as EPB maintenance mode. NOTE: Carry out the following service mode deactivation procedure to activate the EPB system.
      Set the ignition to ON.
      Press and hold the brake pedal.
      Press the EPB switch to release the parking brake.
      Release the brake pedal and the EPB switch.
      Press and hold the accelerator pedal and place the EPB switch to the RELEASE (downward) position. Continue to hold the accelerator pedal and EPB.
      Set the ignition to OFF then set the ignition to ON within 5 seconds. Continue to hold the accelerator pedal and the EPB switch.
      NOTE: When replacing rear brake pads in service (maintenance) mode, the brake caliper piston must be compressed into the caliper housing. The brake caliper piston does not have to be rotated while compressing the piston.
      NOTE: The EPB system will be deactivated, preventing parking brake application until service has been completed and service (maintenance) mode has been deactivated. Dependent on the cluster fitted to the vehicle the yellow EPB indicator will be illuminated, the red brake warning indicator will flash and Maintenance Mode will display on the message center.
      Deactivation
      NOTE: Carry out the following service mode activation procedure to deactivate the EPB system.
      Set the ignition to ON.
      Press and hold the accelerator pedal and place the EPB switch in the APPLY (upward) position. Continue to hold the accelerator pedal and the EPB switch.
      Set the ignition to OFF then set the ignition to ON within 5 seconds. Continue to hold the accelerator pedal and the EPB switch.
      Continue to hold the accelerator pedal and EPB switch until depending on the cluster fitted to the vehicle, the yellow EPB indicator is no longer illuminated, the red brake warning lamp is no longer flashing and Maintenance Mode is no longer displayed in the message center.
      NOTE: The EPB system will fully apply and release the parking brake to guarantee sufficient air gap between the rear brake pads and brake disc.
      5. Release the accelerator pedal and the EPB switch
