    All these years later and this “FIGHT” is still relevant. I have the standard lens and I’m that Paw-Paw backyard shooter who doesn’t need anything too fancy. That being said, I do adapt the standard 70-300mm onto my R6MKII. The technology of the R62 fixes the focusing and stabilizing issues. The lens just doesn’t struggle on the mirrorless camera like it does on my 90D.
    Thanks again

    Great tutorial. I'm glade I came across your video. I have the standard 70-300mm I've had for about 5 years. I thought that maybe I had purchased a bad copy because I have never been able to get the sharpness that I was expecting. I'm looking forward to buying the L model in the near future.

    Great comparison. Thank you. The dust issue is a big one.

    Thank you for this review. Finally someone comparing a non L and L version of it. Very detailed. I was actually searching for a comparison with the non-L second version (2016) but some considerations like dust do help with the choice.

    What do you think about the EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM and using a 2x teleconverter for bright light longer range shots. With internal focusing it would be sealed very well. The 70-200 has good reviews as being very sharp for a zoom. How would they compare at 200mm?

    I have the 70-300L lens on my 7D II and find that combo fantastic. The focusing is fast and on point plus the images are tac sharp. I’ve recently picked up the 100-400L vii and find it also fabulous. I’ve thought of selling the 70-300L but can’t seem to part with this fantastic lens.

    Got the standard 70-300... I'm between the L or the 100-400mm MK1... Decisions, but loved the review, finally found one between the two 70-300's

    Yes the non l lens struggles a lot to focus on subjects i have to literally keep reframing to get the subject in focus and another big issue is vignetting when zoomed at 300 which is a big pain - i would soon plan to go for the L lens as this is one of my best focul range for street and bird photography - gives me ample space to target the subject.

    You know I didn't And don't have a problem with the auto focus on the 70-300 standard. I have a full frame and APS camera. Neither have had focusing issues and I used it a lot. Image quality is better on the full frame. Thanks for the review.

    I have a Canon 70D with a Canon 70-2mm F4 L lens [Non IS] - I am looking to increase my focal length and can't decide between the Canon 1.4x III extender and the 70-3mmmm F4-5.6L IS USM - would welcome you comments and suggestions - weight - price - image quality - stabilization etc etc

    Can I get an L lense in EF-S ? Or will both EF and EF-S both mount on my EOS T7?

    • @lb7144
      @lb7144 Před 3 měsíci

      Yes, EF lenses will fit. I have a Canon 90D and I have the standard 70-300mm f/4-5.6 USM. Now this lens is awesome on my full frame R6 MKII mirrorless. I use an adapter for the R6MKII and the old lenses focuses really quick and isn’t noisy like this one. Now it does struggle some on the 90D and 5DMKIV if the light is low.

      You’ll probably want the Canon EF-S STM 55-250mm f/4.5-5.6. It’s an excellent lens and reasonably priced.

    If aching wrists are a problem, you should really get the Canon ef-s 55-250mm IS STM! It's inexpensive, it's really light, it's nice and sharp, and autofocus is instantaneous and absolutely quiet! It's a no-brainer-must-have.
    P.S. It must be the STM version, mind! The older version is no good.
