    Thanks for this video, Matt. Hearing how you kept your passion for the game going from player to coach to mentor, shows how you can take a fella out of the game, but never the game out of the fella! 👍🏼👍🏼

    I've been coaching travel ball past 3 years. I have the passion to coach kids to be better I would say most parents and kids love me. I'm Leaving the organization I've been coaching with cause I don't agree with their mindset of plug and playing guest players versus the kids on the actual team. I want to start my own travel team at 15U started my own LLC, spread the word to all the parents from little league up to 15U players. Working on setting up try out dates etc. is there anything else accounting/legal steps I'm missing ? Any help would be great !
    Thanks

    This was Soooooo helpful and healthy!!! I really Love and Respect
    your principles. Helping the young Men 1st. I am creating a prep school team a totally new endeavor for me and the school itself. What would you consider to be my primary areas of concern?

    Do you recruit kids for your travel team? Does having better players on your travel team get your team sponsorships from apparel companies? Sort of like AAU basketball does with shoe companies?

    Matt, my daughter plays travel softball. I assume, like baseball, the levels are every 2 years (12u/14u/16u) etc... The org she plays for has a ton of kids come out for tryouts and it is very competitive. She plays 16U and the org only fields 2 teams at that level, but this goes for any level. What are you thoughts about creating a "futures" young team (strictly 15years olds) and a "premier" team (strictly 16 years old) versus combining 15 & 16 to create two mixed teams of basically equal calibre? This also plays into team progression, player retention, and their ability to compete, as typically the future player isn't as strong/quick/polished. Thanks. (Is it Laura or Lara? j/k)

    I want to develop an academy like yours but it like a Mets academy in Africa countries 🇳🇬🇸🇳🇬🇳🇨🇮🇨🇲🇺🇬🇰🇳🇵🇰🇲🇿🇲🇲🇿🇦🇬🇭road to become a New York Mets. And I give them options before to the Mets to play college/minor league baseball at age 17-18 before getting called up or make them play in Japan 🇯🇵 and play in their league for two three years and then have Mets fans scot them in Japan then recruit. It can help both the Mets and the growth and culture of Africa

    Opening and building a program only works for ex-players or coaches. Credibility is huge. Parents and kids aren’t willing to pay random ass guys who just want to coach.

      It may help, but lots of really good programs that I’ve seen that don’t have former players running it

    Show a vested interest in the kids in the program .Grow with them and support them and in return word of mouth will do the rest.

    Imagining a travel ball head coach Hall of Fame made me burst out laughing. That must have been the goal of my hardass U10 coach back in the day that yelled at little 4th graders like we were college players.
    People who don’t enjoy helping kids or can’t deal with parents shouldn’t be coaching.

    Why would you have 11 teams? You need one team per age group.

    • @AntonelliBaseball
      @AntonelliBaseball  Před 3 lety +2

      We started with one per age but ended up having over 500 kids at tryouts. We try to have a mix of allowing as many kids to play with us as possible while also not letting the organization get too big so I can still work individually with all the players

      @@AntonelliBaseball with the amount of passion you show towards the younger generation that's gotta be one the the highlights of having your own program. Even if it's only a few minutes here and there your kids are getting one on one with a former MLB caliber player. That's cooler than the other side of the pillow.

    • @italiancapo7
      @italiancapo7 Před 3 lety

      @@AntonelliBaseball doesn’t that water down the teams and the program? The best kids at that age should make the team. More teams certainly puts more money in the programs pocket bc these parents are willing to pay for their kid to play on the C team or the 3rd string travel team just so they can brag to their friends that their kid plays travel ball. No parent wants to say their kid plays little league still at age 12. Travel baseball has been watered down as a result. It’s the same thing that has happened to soccer. Everybody’s kid plays travel/club soccer it’s ridiculous.

    • @AntonelliBaseball
      @AntonelliBaseball  Před 3 lety +1

      @@italiancapo7 well there were a lot of good players that weren’t making our teams when we only had one team at each level. If the goal is to help players get better, there shouldn’t be a rule that only 13 kids are allowed to play at each age. There of course comes a point when too many kids doesn’t allow for us to develop them as well as we could. It’s a balancing act that we talk a lot about. One of the reasons we have not gone more than 11 teams.
