People are completely misunderstanding emotional connection in one piece. One piece story being emotional is one thing, and artstyle making it hard for characters to emote is a different thing. Story has to do the heavy lifting of emotions is what I meant.

I feel a lot of anime fans are more combative but less communicative when it comes to discussing anime. If I had a penny for every comment I see on any platform that says "X anime is mid/X anime L" with no further elaboration as to why they feel that way I'd be a millionaire. I'd seen a reel recently where the person had their Berserk hardbacks on display in the background and one of the comments just said "Berserk L" and hundreds of comments asking the person, politely might I add, to explain their reasoning but they responded to every comment with hate comments. Its not a healthy way to talk about any medium or art form you enjoy and it only shows that media literacy or at least fair and good faith criticism is vanishing more and more.

I don't know about one piece yet Because i only watched it arlong park yet episode 42 or 43 something but i can say about detective Conan that people are not watching it just because it's too long even long than one piece but after watching 300+ episodes i can absolutely say that detective Conan is a masterpiece and criminally underrated you should give it a try even just 1 or 2 episodes a day but just start and give it a try believe me you won't regret

I am sorry but... (Manga reader here) comparing jjk to other works like aot and Vinland saga is like comparing apples to oranges... I mean comparing shonen jump's front cover manga which is very much a pure battle shonen with a darker twist to some series which is more character driven or drama oriented is very dumb. I would very much like people to grow up from this BS norm of comparing stories from different genres, for different age demographics..

Here's my take. After watching one or two anime review videos, people shouldn't act as if they are an expert in that field, that they know everything is there to story writing and so on. At the end of the day, it matters that it's fun to watch. AND THAT IS WHY SHINCHAN AND DORAEMON ARE THE BEST ANIME EVERRRRR. FRICK ONE PIECE, FRICK JJK AND EVERYTHING ELSE. SHINCHAN AND DORAEMON IS WHERE IT'S AT!

Yosuga no Sora is a great anime but people wrongly accuse it to be a bad anjme... just 'cause it has incest!!?
How I look at it is very different. I feel like this anime is a metaphorical story of what foreigners (or at least the people who don't belong to that place) feel when they move to that part (for foreingers, it's japan).
I think the incest here used as a tool to symbolise different culture, etiquettes that are different from that place. Think about it. As an indian, we have our own customs and traditions which is far different from Japan, so there can be some things which aren't seen in a good light over there (namingly, we use our hands to eat while they use chopsticks. So naturally, japanese people will fill uncomfortable when they see you eat).
If you watch interviews of foreigners who go to Japan and from far of place, they often face discrimination. And it was even more prevalent in older times.
So, that's why I think *Yosuga no Sora is actually the telling of a story from the point of view from "outsiders" when they move to that place*
And besides, _it's not like people haven't watch game of throwns... which also had incest..._

What in the world is this comparison ? Monster wasnt a seasonal anime like heavenly delusion , so you dont need to wait for years for story to unwrap moreover monster used to give satsisfying ends to its arc and side characters

Monster is a masterpiece for me. It was never boring for me honestly. It was peak from the starting till the ending. But i felt sleepy (boring af) watching every episode of Heavenly Delusion. The story, animation etc is good, maybe GREAT i should say. Even then idk WHY it was boring for me. I don't find anime like Monster to be boring, then why Heavenly Delusion? Idk. Maybe I need to rewatch it? Still can't change the fact that it was SOO boring in the first watch.
heavenly delusion is more like last of us of anime ,give same vibes as promised neverland .but it is very diffrent to approach of mystery that is in monster.

I only cried for Naruto n Itachi backstory in Naruto. But Robin's Backstory, Going Merry, Ace death n nearly cried many times like Tama struggle, Otama reaction, n many more in Wano❤... Naruto deaths only hit as hard as other crewmates backstory n thats it. So Onepiece is more Emotional than Naruto
My sister just caught up with one piece and she started in end of september but she watched it from one pace, so not long as all you need to be a 'vella' with some interest.
Also anime going mainstream helps but it welcomes the equal amount of toxicity which ruins the reputation of anime, looking at you MHA fandom. Like MHA fandom single handedly killed my vibe for MHA and my friend also hates it now.
My friend loved MHA and I also liked it but now I can't enjoy that show and haven't watched since season 5 and He is also dissapointed

I respectfully disagree with your Statement, I started read the manga when 235 chapter was released, the shibuya arc oin the manga was very good but the anime nailed it with some original fights scenes, choreography, and the death of nanami and nobara was also very good, this season was not only action packed but the story also progresses.
I know most people will ignore me but i want to say what i want, MHA is actually good, yeah im presonally not a huge fan but i still appreciate the series where it is due, becuase no matter how many cringe moments you have to sit through, it still has amazing moments and some really good character arcs, again nothing special but still not bad, but i feel recently the story has gone down hill and lost what it made it good.

Hot take- this comment have actually explain compare to another comments this comment special. It is not good sign
MHA had the potential to be one of the best shonen anime, but it got wasted. The reason is that the author didnt try to take risks in the while killing of characters early on(all might should have died while fighting all for one) . Also it has huge pool of side characters, which is its biggest strength. But most of them haven't been flushed out properly(i didnt read the manga so i might be wrong), and also deku is such a boring protagonist. its like everything is handed out to him. I really liked it when he became a vigilant. that was really cool. but the author just decided to end it very early. One more thing is and i think its a me problem but i don't feel any dread towards the dark moments of some characters. like i didn't feel anything towards shigaraki's backstory even though he goes through some messed up shit.

As a jjk fan, I would just like to say that I think its wrong to generalise any anime fandom to be toxic... bcz I think that if u are saying that the whole fandom is toxic then u should know that every fandom has some amount to toxic fans... but there are genuine and fans also.... like I do agree with some negative points about jjk, toxic fans are those who just cant take criticism about their anime...we should not generalize any fandom

As a jjk fan i would just like to say that i did agree with some points mentioned in the video like jjk does not actually hv a story...like in the manga also till now there hasnt been any storytelling arc or smthing, though there is a very big plot twist but i am not gonna tel bcz i am not like other toxic jjk fans... but i do disagree with that no character development and no emotional connection part... bcz as for character development, i wont say anything bcz you guys will witness sooooo many characters developments in the culling games are and the introduction to many new characters also... and as for emotion connection, i personally felt a very good emotional connection with nobara and was very very hurt by her death.. like as that point gege really touched our heart when he showed us her childhood and everything... and nanami's death too was very well written and yuji's mental breakdown was also very hurtful...but i do agree that gege is over doing it and killing too many characters, it is losing its impact now.. but its just gege akutami being gege akutami...and i am open to any discussion bcz though i am a jjk fan..i am not a toxic fan..i can take criticism and am open to everyone's opinions...

My honest take - People should stop with this notion that just because they consume media like Vinland Saga , Berserk etc that doesn't make them intellectually superior to others... JJK 's purpose is to serve high octive fast paced action with likeable characters and i guess it does that very well...
As a Vinland fan, I can't help but laugh my balls out whenever I see an another Vinland fan fighting on social media regarding their fav shows. Like they never got the message of Vinland at all. Debating in a polite manner is fine, unless doing online debates has become your full-time job which obviously doesn't pay you shit!

I think the reason why new anime don't feel any fun is because of the comparison with most people's first anime like naruto, one piece, etc. I have seen many naruto fans who start the anime like black clover, jjk and mha with the impression that it's just a copy and there is no way it can be better than Naruto. My point is that when you started your initial anime you didn't had any bias toward it in contrast to current ones.
This alone isn't the reason but it clearly is one the reason in my opinion.
