You've just got to admire the shit out of a guy, who goes so far out of his comfort zone, writing about content that obviously makes him vulnerable and exposed. He could've rested on his laurels and not taken the chance to do something he obviously has a passion for. There's a lesson in there........
I've been listening to the album constantly in the car and it's been turning into a favorite of mine.
A dude who works construction should not grab a scalpel and perform open heart surgery and this guy should not sing anymore. Ever. Seriously just stop!
It can take a very long time for a singer to find his right kind of genre/type/sound. The last song, was very very good. He needs a bit more vocal training but I could not be happier to have listened to him. Hes not a cunt, he seems sincere, and the last song was great. I would love to hear him sing more!! FUCKING DAVID DUCHOVNY!!!! In this light, you know who he resembles right? Truly an inspiration and could not be more proud. What a champ!
I agree the last one is really good. But he should let someone else sing it, not sure hitting the keys is something you can practice. Yes he is very inspiring, that's true. I feel proud of him too!

Not bad. If people are actually born to be something, a musician, dechovany was not. But still, giving it a try and sounding relatively cool is nice. Also, these lyrics in the hands of someone with a better ear and touch for music could make something special. And I understand the want to venture into different mediums of self expression. The dude is a talented actor and when some of that creativity that cannot be expressed through his characters, you look for something else. It's an innate need in the life of an artist.
Is he a talented actor? I've seen the X-files and a few episodes of Californication. Never thought he acted so well. Without the great chemistry between him and Anderson I'm not sure he would have made it. Always missed something there, more authenticity.
Lmao well he's no Brando, but I think he's very good in the roles casted for him and he has played large variety of characters.

i totally think its a smart comment and agree almost with all of it, but you miss the point that making music doesnt require you to be that talent, i suck at singing i have a barking dog voice but i sing all the time, i guess this is what its about. as long as i catch the feeling i dont care about how good your voice is or your playing is
Life As A Human, I agree with you 100% and have proselytized that exact sentiment. Sorry if it sounded as if I have a certain "standard" for all musicians to meet. I myself am a musician and -not to toot my own horn- have been praised highly in my local music scene, though I cannot sing and I like sloppy grunge guitar. I believe being a talented singer has absolutely 0 to do with your range or whatever else, it has to do with the feeling your voice singing certain words, in a certain melody evokes. Hopefully it's a visceral emotional response.

He has a very nice voice...but his singing, well. He wasn't born to be a singer. But I like the lyrics and the music and it's brave of him to try it out. I think he could make it as a lyricist.

I really like the last song, "Hell or Highwater". His voice reminds me of Stephen Malkmus (Pavement). It suits him, though. Quite impressed.

sounds like someone singing along to another song quietly, not really sure of themselves or the lyrics. I like him though, but his voice was always kind of monochromatic even as an actor.
Hey David, what you need is a costume. Put on a black cowboy hat and some black jeans with maybe a black cotton shirt with a collar and rolled up sleeves. Perhaps a red ruby ring on yellow gold, and there you go. A cool lookin dude like you ought to make the most of your presence. It's a turn on to have a gimmick.

He may not be the best singer, but he has a good voice. I think if he had training (or more if he had any) like a lot of singers usually might it could be better.

He told me once he wished he could sing! I agree with him, he does not have the best voice, BUT he did compose and write those strange and meaningful lyrics, based on true experiences. Kinda prefer the rock versions on the album to '3000' & 'Hell Or Highwater' though. The one I least like is 'When The Time Comes' and my favourite isn't on here - 'Unsaid Undone' which kicks arse!

I mean he can sort of play the guitar, that's all he can do musically other than "sing." This is proof that the hobbies of the rich and famous are better to be kept in their large basements where no one can see them.
