Hello sir, Can we cross Zonals with Regals? And please tell what is the best time of year to cross polinate and harvest seeds. Thank you.

Rr Mir Hello. Re Zonals and Regals. I’m afraid not, they are from totally different pelargonium groups. The summer is the best time for the pollination and harvesting of seed when it is dry and warm.

I was just going to ask the very same question. It is so good to have an expert grower and breeder on hand to answer our questions. That said if it was possible I am sure David would have already got a whole lot of them winning best in class at shows :)

Peter B Thanks Peter, I’m sure others would have attempted it too 😉. I’ll do a video about the groups that can be crossed. It’s all about the gene count and what species/ hybrids have been used in the history of breeding of the groups that make them compatible with each other; but I’ll do one soon

Is there a way to get some seeds from you?

Olga S Hi Olga. Unfortunately I don’t want to set a precedent here as I get these types of requests all of the time and I don’t want to favour anyone. I hope you understand. Regards David.

@@thepagsociety I understand, I hope someday you will consider it though. Those are gorgeous flowers! We cant get plants with soil shipped to Hawaii because of restrictions so Im always looking for seeds. Thank you for replying.
