We've been cool in the north east U.S. too. Freeze warnings the past 2 nights and tomorrow morning.

if I want to plant a single ivy leaf pelargonium in a basket, what should be the ideal size of that basket?

I presume you mean a single plant not single flowering. Then it can be quite small say six inches, it would probably be a hanging pot as I’m not sure you can get baskets that small.

I have grown ivies in the past and sometimes have problem with edema of the foliage. It sounds like my potting mix had not been porous and well draining enough. My understanding is that keeping the plants too wet or an extreme wet/dry cycle is what causes that. What is your opinion about it? What is the ideal outdoor exposure for ivies?

@@thepagsociety i mean 1 single flowering ivy pelargonium plant which can grow to its peak size and flower in abundance. Should it be 6 inches deep or 6 inches in diameter (wide).

@@janecurtis5726 Yes absolutely. Purely down to overwatering particularly when they are young, as I said they just don’t need it. Obviously when they’ve grown on and filled the basket with roots and the weather becomes warm they will need more but they are built to be drought tolerant. D
