    Hi. I just found your channel and am slowly going through all your videos. Thank you very much for giving us such valuable info. Sorry, not really. The only supplier of pelargoniums that I know of in the US is based in Marin county, CA, she's an Aussie ex pat. Her website is geraniaceae.com.

  • @MarigoldsintheGarden

    Greetings from Australia. I have only discovered your amazing channel today. You are certainly an expert. I will have to watch all your videos as I am still confused about which are geraniums and which are pelargoniums. Then we have hardy geraniums too. I found myself growing more and more pelargoniums and geraniums over the past few years, but they are hard to find unless you know someone who would give you a cutting. I finally found a few seedlings at Bunnings, our largest hardware store here, in their gardening section. The seem to becoming popular in England (where I was born) and in the US. Thank you so much for sharing your wealth of knowledge with us, your viewers. I truly appreciate it all!

      @@MarigoldsintheGarden Thanks very much. Basically the hardy’s are geraniums, everything else is a pelargonium. The confusion arises from the zonal pelargonium group being marketed as geraniums when they are not. • @thepagsociety
      @thepagsociety Před 24 dny

      @@edita_uk676 They faired okay but I think I said in one of my recent videos that I went over to putting more drainage material in the mix like perlite as the compost seems to appear to be dry but was actually wet at the bottom of the pot. This seems to be an issue for most growers but more drainage does help greatly. However, things have changed a bit as the legislation that was to ban its retail sale and eventual professional sale never got heard in parliament and with a new government they’ve probably got higher priorities. So for the time being there is still a choice and I am aware of many growers that are going back to peat based.

      Hi Kimmy, Have to say that I can't remember where you are, are you in the UK, if so you have little hope of getting a basket to be in full flower by then even in a normal spring, let alone the one we had this year. You would need to be potting them up by late March and keeping them in a greenhouse to enable this to happen and also not cutting them back in an any way (just pack them in). My basket is reaching its peak now - in late July, which is quite normal. Joy Stock, one of our top basket growers (see the show video) keeps them in the basket all year around and in the greenhouse until the show day. D

However moving will alter the situation somewhat. You cannot use hard wood for cuttings although what we call semi-ripe is okay and can produce better plants. D

      Hi Derek, glad to see your enthusiasm for winter controls for your greenhouse. I personally do not use bubble wrap on the roof as I need as much light as possible to get through. I also have many windows on my greenhouse which are constantly opened / closed even in the winter so it would be too much faff to cut them out of the wrap. I leave the side wraps on constantly which you may be able to see in the videos. I presume you mean bubble size, the larger tends to be more robust both for fitting with the plastic clips to the greenhouse and for aging. Hope this helps. D
