    I like my sq6. It is my favorite and I have gotten sharp photos on it. Yes of course digital sensors are going to give you sharp photos. The reason cell phones are outselling dslrs and point and shoot digital cameras. The sensors are way better than digital cameras. And that is why cell phones are expensive.

    I bought a NONS 660. It is formatted for Instax Square, but it is in a body that (with the proper adapters) will attach my manual Canon FD lenses. It's SLR, so I can set the focus and iris with accuracy. It was $600, and well worth it.

      I like what Nons is doing. Perhaps my only criticism is that I think it would have been better if the built in teleconverter was removable, revealing one of the popular medium format mounts. But even as it is it seems to be a fantastic tool, and I hope to at least test one someday.

    Really weird why Fujifilm doesnt sell cameras with modes above their mini range anymore.

    I originally was gonna find a SQ6 since they seem decent but the fact you can only select some modes and not combo modes that should work together is a big con to me. So I'm unsure on that now. I might still consider one if I can get one secondhand for dirt cheap. Beyond that cam though I was tempted on the lomo cam. But there's like 2 things that have been holding me off on getting the LISG, which was hearing about metering issues, but it seems to work great for you and a couple others I've seen, and the fact the viewfinder is so far offset. But I guess if I'm working with a subject that close. I'm gonna be lining it up differently anyways. Thanks for the info about these cams. It does give me a good bit of insight on what to save up for now.

    thanks for the comparison, i just bought lomo instant square, and i got fuji mini square and wide, i have to say i would never go back to the fuji plastic camera, possitive for lomo, + sharpest pictures evermade with instant films, + if you had good focusing and light color of the picture amazing, + extra lomofotografy efects, negatives, focusing very hard, viewfinder is a joke use a coke pipe as a finder good than this:), little bit hard to understand the lens so you are taking bad pictures,, if you are new in instant films definetly take a fuji camera it is very good and easy to use but if you want someting little bit professinal and diferent also you are allready accepting losing so many instant films while try to understant the lomo square, than just take it.

    hey man question, on cameras like the Lomo, how do you set the aperture and focus? the view finder does not show live focusing does it? how are you supposed to do that?

    • @slightlynuts
      @slightlynuts  Před 6 měsíci +7

      Neither the Lomo or the SQ6 show any variable information in the viewfinder. On the SQ6 it is just a clear viewfinder, and on the Lomo it is a clear viewfinder with a part that is shaded for both parallax, and infinity finding of you use the Instax mini back.
      Focusing on the Lomo is done by sliding the little lever on the side of the lens. There are 3 detents on the slider, but you can set it at spots in-between. You could of course use an external rangefinder, but I suspect most people just guesstimate the distance.
      Aperture is set by the camera, as is the shutter speed. There is an exposure compensation button on the Lomo that is +/- one stop (at least I think its one stop), as indicated by a pair of LEDs. the SQ6 has a + and a - setting, but you can't use it with other settings. This is pretty important and annoying, because the SQ6 also adjusts focus ranges as one of its settings. This is the #1 thing most people dislike about the SQ6. It is almost as if Fuji was all set to create this fantastic camera, but then decided to cripple it in the name of saving money on buttons and circuitry.
      If any of this is unclear, please let me know. I sometimes leave "bits in the middle" out.

      @@slightlynuts This is probably the most detailed answer ive received on a youtube comment since 2002. Appreciate it brotha.
      Mhm i saw some videos on how the focusing is done on the Lomo. Ok so im coming from a professional photography background. I shoot on a Sony A7iii. I cant imagine how i will manage distance to focus to get it sharp lol. But on the other hand, does perfect focus even matter on something as small as a polaroid? Am i over thinking this?
      Is the solution to just move back and shoot everything on the infinity setting?

    • @slightlynuts
      @slightlynuts  Před 6 měsíci +2

      @@farhanbaig404 Well you have two factors to consider - on one hand, the widest aperture on the Lomo is f/10, but on the other the film is slightly larger than medium format. At normal size you can probably (with practice) get to a point where you are guesstimating it close enough 80% - 90% of the time. Or, for work closer than ~15 feet, you could always get one of those laser measurer things from amazon. Keep in mind the distance scale on the camera is from the lens itself, not the viewfinder.

    Those Hybrid Cameras are nice when you wanna play around and have an (expensive) portable Printer. Its just sad, that the combos Fuji is offering are so bad. Basically taking a picture with your smartphone and printing it on your own, cheap photo printer at home delivers better pictures than this. I am rooting for new and better truly analog instant cameras. Altough I am aware, that it seems this ship has sailed.

    I got 3 instant camera, one being lomograhpy instant wide, i like their camera, becasue it has many feature to use, when picture is good, it really is very good, however it is not stable compare to fujifilm camera, my one has ejecting problem, which is a real pain in the ass. LOMO offer me a dsicount to buy a new which i am still thinking if i should get antoher instant wide or go for the square one.

      Sorry, my last reply wasn't very helpful. If you have the money, the best bet is a Instax Wide 500af, but they are a bit spendy, and you are buying a 20 year old plastic camera.
