7:36 and there was a red mini right behind you!!! Cool stuff
What a fascinating camera and awesome video! Your photos were great man!
Thanks Danny! Yeah its a fun funky one that gives nice images!
NIce video!! And photos you took!
Thanks! 😀
Great video!! I watched with my daughter and was looking to purchase one while watching the video. Going to see a second hand one tomorrow but at the end you mentioned the SQ6 and also looked at that one. Much more expensive than the Lomography one. More like the price range of a new Polaroid camera. Great content keep it up
Thanks! I hope to keep at it! hahah
Unfortunately the SQ6 is being sold for silly prices right now (Anything over 100 quid is insane) so unless you get lucky the Lomo Square might be the best option price wise.
SQ6 is much much better. I’ve got both and the Lomo is almost unusable due to inconsistent exposure.
Great video! What a unique design on this thing. I'm curious about your DIY range finder. Any tips on where you found the parts / aligned it for proper framing?
Thanks for watching!
I use a helios optical viewfinder (has multiple framelines) and a "small rig" cold shoe attachment (can be picked up on places like amazon) Glue (loctite) or heavy duty double sided tape.
Hey dude! Do you have links to the viewfinder mods you used on the camera? I’d like to upgrade that part for myself
I watched some reviews saying the viewfinder was awful and it was hard to frame. You’re a genius for putting the optical viewfinder on top of it 🙌🏼, solving the entire problem. Would you have the reference of it please?
Great video and shots!
It helps a lot with framing. Not perfect but better than nothing! I use a vinatge helios optical viewfinder (has multiple framelines) and a "small rig" cold shoe attachment (can be picked up on places like amazon) Glue (loctite) or heavy duty double sided tape.
I havent gotten mine yet so i dont know if they brought back the lens cover yet, but would you reccomend using the splitzer as a lens cap until i can find something better?
I GUARANTEE you have a lens cap, which is supposed to close when you close the camera, sometimes even my brand new one doesnt close automatically. Your one might just be completely stuck 😬 one of my gripes with the camera but I'm loving it so far
I have one of the early versions with the shutters that cover the lens when in the closed position, which stopped working very quickly.
Makes sense that they removed it!
Fun video!!! I have a first generation camera, kickstarted it. I used it a lot for a while and for some reason it's not in my rotation ... perhaps it's time to rethink that!!!
Perhaps its time to dust it off..happens with me also!
Does your early version have the lens cover? I swear they had them!
Thanks for watching!
@@irresponsiblepictures7451 Yes there is that lens cover!!!
Hi I have this camera with me since few weeks, but it's a bit harder to focus in indoors and outdoors as well, how should I overcome it?
@@ManideepT-gz6kv You will really need to learn zone focusing. For example an arms length is roughly a meter. For close up subjects I put my arm out straight from the distance from the subject. You can also judge by footsteps.
Purchased the Lomo'Instant Square because Fujifilm did not have a full analogue model at the time. It's not the easiest camera to operate but the lens is very sharp and I don't immediately notice the typical Lomo vignetting. Also own a range of filters of which the 80C is good for use in artificial light. Indoors photos with flash are too dark and at the launch of the Fujifilm SQ1 I was able to get my hands on an SQ6 at a reduced price which scores better in that area although the SQ6's viewfinder isn't perfect either. I like both with a slight personal preference for the Lomo, maybe because the focal length is comparable with a Polaroid SX70/SLR680.
I completely forgot that Lomo got this out before the SQ6. Strange that Fujifilm ditched the SQ6 so quickly as the SQ1 is not as good.
This lomo is probably the only one for sale right now on the "general" market that shows the real potential of instax film.
Hopefully the metering isn't as irregular as my previous lomos but so far looks like its good...certainly enjoyable and intuitive to use! Thanks for watching the video, R.J!
Heyy how's the picture quality? I've heard some good videos where it states the camera takes sharp images, then there are some reviews that say that isn't that good or the pictured come out decent. Am confused between lomo and instax mini 90. :/
I bought one just a few weeks ago from the Lomography website and it has the lens cover. I haven't had a chance to shoot with it yet, but the lens cover did jam open once when I folded the camera back up. Yours might have the lens cover but it could be permanently jammed open, I have read online that it has failed on some people's cameras.
It would be on the outside of the lens? Mine has nothing at all...not even a gap for the cover to pop through!
@@irresponsiblepictures7451 It's just behind the square opening. Two triangular blades (one from the top left corner, and the other from the bottom right) close just above the front element of the lens.
When it's open you can't see it at all, it retracts completely into the camera.
@@DiamandiLheyy did you get a chance to shoot with the lomo? How's the sharpness of the pictures? I'm confused between mini 90 and lomo'instant square
The irony of your channel name being Irresponsible Pictures and instant film being not exactly eco-friendly has me rolling haha
Hah! Well yeah! Not sure how it is in your neck of the woods but cardboard packaging, plastic, foil, metal tray...we recycle everything. Plus you get a picture that doesn't require energy to view 😉
Damn sharknato leaving sharks all over the place.
