Game Description:

I love that Joe was visibly shaken by Marty’s death, he didn’t just think of Marty as some stupid errand boy trying to gain favor. He clearly cared for him and felt deeply guilty that this young man’s life ended before he had a chance to do anything!

Marty's death is a pivotal moment in the game because you can tell how Joe changed right after his death because this wasn't just another mobster being killed this was a kid a child and it fucked with him Marty was like his little brother and he felt responsible for his death

I think we all forget that Marty literally saved Joe's life in that moment at the foundry. That's not just a badass moment, but a massive contribution to the story of Mafia 2 and Mafia 3.

pretty sure hes 18, in the us you must sign a contract to have an apartment, since minors dont have to follow contracts no apartment owner would rent to a minor, think its just a oversight to keep his age 17 or the czech developers didnt know

This game really hits the emotions. Vito's mother died while he was in jail, Marty's death, and Henry getting killed by those chinese mafia and at last joe separation from vito at last.
I love how in this mission a bunch of things go wrong(most of all Henry figuring out you're there and deciding not to do anything about it which means you survive because of Luck)and it lowkeys shows you that Joe is not the most intelligent guy in that life, at the end even Vito's connection to Leo can't save Joe, guys like Joe don't last in that life no matter how tough they are, realistic writing by Dan Vavra.
Vavra was not involved in the last third of the story
Joe wasn’t killed by Leo though that was made very clear in Mafia 3
Henry decided not to do anything about it because he was an FBI agent working in deep cover.
He saw the chance to help one Mob family to get rid of another and then used his connection to those that did the deed to get into another Mob family to also destroy it from within.
Chances are the entire drug deal was set up just to bust the mafia and the tongs on a narco rap. Except the Mob had people on the inside and Henry's plan was cut short.
What The Comission didn't plan for is Vito and Joe busting everyone's asses, making the entire ordeal an even bigger pile of evidence for the feds.
Honestly Henry having that conversation with Vito about the bad disguise was one of the funniest things in the game 😂

He would've survived long enough to rejoin Vito and Joe if he didn't act up on the rival Don Clemente. His death serves as a moral purpose, a young street kid who wants to be a gangster will ofcourse end up bad. However he blended in really well, it felt like his character was always there, with the accident later at the bar and Vito obtaining his house.

Harry Mason in Silent Hill 3. After I went through with him a lot in Silent Hill 1 and seeing him dead, cold in that chair, I just lost it. I cried a lot.
Other times when I felt sad (but not crying) because of a death of a video game character was for example when Tommy died at the end of Mafia 1 and when Mona died at the end of Max Payne 2.
Sean on red dead redemption 2. I was genuinely surprised. I really liked that guy and I still do. I was broken to see him go. He got shot in the head when he wasn't paying full attention.

Marty was to young to die😢. He was a good character.
Marty is a memorable character because we learned about him very early in pre-production. He is featured in the very first gameplay demo that was released for instance. I was personally a bit surprised that this character was not featured more heavily in the story, but it's possible that he was intended to be, had the complete version of the game been released. The missions in the Joe DLC also points to the fact that there was more to this character, as all DLCs were chopped up side missions basically. Just another small trace of what Mafia II could have been.

I think it’s poignant is because he was a kid who kid have literally done anything he wanted in life and was killed before getting a chance to really live. I don’t even just mean as a mobster but he could have gotten his life together and lived a real life too!
playing Mafia 2 again after I played Lost Heaven after like 5 years, I realized Mafia 2 kinda lacked that Conspiracy type of music that Mafia 1 had, those tense music when Tommy is going on a mission against some of the most powerful people in the city and I understand that's not the vibe Mafia 2 was going for at all but I think they should bring back that Atmosphere for Mafia IV, that's why the mission in Mafia 1 where you go to country side to get the Liquor shipment, it's raining, at night, you have no idea what's going on, thunderstorm, unsettling music, Sam is shot and dying and you 3 are close to death, the vibe of that mission was something else, it stays with you.
What are you talking about? Mafia 2 had the exact same atmosphere at the end in fact the ending of mafia 2 stays with you forever because of the rain and the music

Joe is a great character but it was a garbage move how he accidentally killed that black bartender when that bartender was trying to save his a$#, all the while Vito was warning him to not bring Marty on serious jobs and he ignored the advice, Joe fucked up and that black dude ended up paying when he had nothing to do with anything, the heroin deal was also a big fuck up, Joe was constantly fucking up.

But even if he would survive the events of Mafia 2, I don't think he would be following Vito or Joe out of Empire Bay.
However, it's possible that he would be Vito's main (secret) EB connection. Taking care of Francesca, getting information on Joe's whereabouts for Vito, etc.
I can easily see Marty in that role.

Btw, i like to Maxium modify joe's car and Paint It With flashy colors, It makes the Chase easyer, and the cutscenes funnyer (not in Many cutscenes the car you Drive It shows as you modify It)
I always had this theory that Henry may be the one who killed Marty, but then escaped so Vito and Joe don't recognize him... Henry was a suspicious character from the first moment I always thought somethings wrong with this guy... anyway very interesting detail

Yeah I think it's better for the story that you come out and see Marty already dead, because I remember it being unexpected when playing it for the first time. But also - We are playing through the eyes of Vito Scaletta, he wasn't there to see Marty get killed so he was already dead when they got there. So to have a cutscene showing Marty getting whacked would be out of character compared to the rest of the game, literally.

I love Mafia 2's Gunplay, its just really satisfying.
I don´t think that its made because Marty was 17-years old. They could make Marty a 18 year and the problem would been solved. Also, there were many other brutal scenes that made Mafia II anyway a 18+ game.
I wish some developers would come out of nowhere and talk about old games. Like what Ideas theyve had for Mafia 2, what was funny.. a 1 hour talk. It would be so cool.. but I never saw that anywhere sadly.
In chapter 11 henry talks a bit about marty that he hang up with joe at freddys and a had a voice like yeah (but marty is 18 in chapter 10 how can he hang up in winter 40s with joe at freddys when luca get a hit on joe
Nice video. Marty did not deserved the way he ended up killed in parking. They could have done better & more with marty's character till end. But it is sad that the character which was supposed to be a supporting to vito in his missions ended up killed in such a sad manner.
What happened to the part of Marty's story in Joe's Adventure?
He makes another appearances in Joe s Adventure but he has no lines only cheap text before the mission

What got me was how Vito practically begged Joe to not to bring the kid along, and what does Joe do? ignore him. You'd think that after nearly a decade of mob work, he'd listen to Vito, or have the common sense to not involve a teen boy who thinks the mob life is all fun and games.

Imagine instead of the shitty remaster, they did a full remake, adding all the cut content, I don't even want better graphics, just more to do and to expierence in this wonderful city. I love Mafia 1 and 3 but Mafia 2 has the perfect balance of gameplay, story, worldbuilding, everything. it's just so awesome.

Marty was annoying, Joe shouldnt have survived for such a long time, he was doing random jobs for different families. Shouldve just stuck to one. Also he got lucky because without Vito he wouldn't have lived as long as he did. Marty is an example of how reckless Joe was.
