As a northern PA native, this warms the cockles. Growing up in the 80's I had to hide my geek to an extent, especially in a farming community. It's great to see a real con and not the ridiculous mainstreamed ones that have exploited the community.
It’s about time that northern PA gets some attention haha, it feels like the rest of the world just forgets about us LOL. The people in the cities can’t comprehend that Walmart isn’t just down the block, at least not for me. 😂😂

@@kohaiame2691 An NBC reporter tried to cover up the “f**k Joe Biden” chants in a NASCAR crowd by saying they were cheering “let’s go Brandon.” Even though most NASCAR fans would not know who Brandon Brown is or be that excited for him to win
@@kohaiame2691 150000+ car racing fans chanted un unison, "FUCK JOE BIDEN" on live TV. The reporter tried to cover for the fickle old coward who leaves Americans and allies to die claiming the people were chanting "Let's go Brandon".
Someone named Brandon had won the race.
Americans are less subtitle than Italians. When an unpopular pope died the Italians erected a statue to honor the pope's physician.

It's interesting that in some of the smaller less known fan conventions they're operating as close to normal as possible and there are a lot less mask wearing.
The larger cons have a lot to lose if somebody gets sick.
I wouldn't mind going to a con like this... It's much lighter than a major con. It's 1/20 the stress of anything Wizard runs (or ran? Didn't they go out of business finally?). The majors with 20k+ people attending are not fun, IMHO. Anything under 10,000 is a LOT more bearable.
I would NEVER go to SDCC the way it is now....
@@AvengerII The larger cons, despite having vax mandates? And if they do have vax mandates whats the point of masks. Because when people do get sick anyway, the lawsuits dont come. As for your SDCC comment I would not be going to NYCC if they're going to keep these mandates forever.
I was thinking the same thing. I went to the site and there was nothing on covid requirements, which I was happy about.

That and people are buying fake Vax cards already. How are they going to determine who has a genuine or fake vax card? I have mine from my 2 shots but will they acknowledge or think I faked it? Does everybody who even got the vax even have a card that says they did so?
It's ridiculous and unworkable IMHO.
Very little mask wearing at any of the PA cons we've been to this year -- Sci-Fi and Steel City.
Nah, you shouldn't feel sorry about the movement on the camera. That gives it a lot more of "legitimacy" to the whole thing.
It's nice to see that there's still good cons out there, and that they're attracting back people; it's sad that most of the lockdown must have killed the cons here where i live, but it's actually charming to see once again some companies and people venturing into making cons again.
This is what i missed to see the most: simple, open for everyone, and relaxing events. Thanks for sharing it with us, Geeky.
Wow, that Retro Arcade Room takes me back about 40 years.

always amazed at how many "craft" and or "amateur" (not mean in a pejorative way) artists are out there, it's like a parallel dimension for me, someone had a cool invisible man costume ahaha nice

One of the Twitch artists i watch usually streams from his booth, and occasionally will give us a walk around from the con! At one con we saw a group cosplay of the Stunt Doubles from Spaceballs!
I know I’m old but I remember these things having so much more actual comics, older super hero type games and toys. The stuff is all so new and commercial. Very little of what I saw would actually make me want to go the event. I’m sure it was still a fun event for lots of people that attended. Thanks for the well done walk through video.
@GordoScarface you are probably right. Went to the Comicon in Philly a few years ago and had the same disappointment. The costumes were amazing though.

To see a con that "crowded," I would have to go back in time 13 years before Wizard bought out Mid Ohio Con. That was pretty light!
I generally don't like big cons because of sensory overload and dealing with crowds of people for basic things like food and restrooms. It's not a pleasant experience for me.
Of course, they really haven't had cons in Mid-Ohio since 2019! They canceled all the cons after April last year and the pop culture cons (including Matsuricon and Ohayocon) that were supposed to be held in midtown Columbus were cancelled.
It depends on where you live, and the conventioneers. They didn't want to take chances in Columbus and canceled everything. I don't even think they'll hold anything in November now. Ohayocon got pushed back to mid-February next year. It was traditionally held middle, end of January but the schedules for about everything have been adjusted. It's going to crazy AND likely cold when it comes back. I'll probably wait for Matsuricon 2022 to avoid crowds. Ohayocon gets crazy crowded...
This was early in the morning (maybe even right before opening?) so the crowds weren't there yet. That being said, it was about 1/3 of the attendance of past years. It was running up against NYCC and COVID was likely keeping some folks away.

Most geeks are not athletes and the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic isn't California where the weather is great year-round and fitness fanatic culture is the norm!

People call Anna (TWSG) an outlier but she's an outlier because she LOOKS good doing cosplay unlike 95% of us (including me!).

@@ClownfishTV Hartslog Days are also this weekend locally and that's a HUGE outside craft show for this area as well as Fall Foliage in Bedford, another HUGE craft show. They both have with live entertainment and food trucks.
Great ending! I approve of "Geekycam"! It's a different perspective, with Mrs. Sparkles everyone looks like giants, but when Kneon carries the camera everyone looks tiny. (I know they would rather have lots of people, but I prefer the light crowds like this one!)

It’s weird to hear Geeky be kinda quiet cause she’s usually so bubbly and bright. Looks like a lot of fun! I’ve only ever been to one con in my entire life, since there’s nothing near where I live. I wish I could go to one again

The moonshine candy is not that bad. A few candy makers are doing those little logs like that. And the booth with the handpainted Godzillas, the artwork looked like RAK's art....

I had fun at NYCC. It was pretty crowded Saturday and Sunday. Thursday and Friday was lighter. Looks like you had fun at your con, too. I wish I could have gone to see you guys. I think it would have been fun.

AHHHH!! I love con time. We barely have anything even remotely close to this in Australia, so I always enjoy the vids that come out of US of A. A few of these stalls looked fantastic, and I am always jealous of anywhere that sells back issues. We have slim pickings in our area
They have something pretty similar in Shepparton and Bendigo... uh, well, had, but they were both pretty sick.

That's been one of my dreams is to go to a con of some kind. It's crazy that in 35 years of life I've never had to ability to attend one, lol

As a lower/middle income guy from Europe who is very unlikely to ever attend to any overseas con its really nice to see this; thanks Geeky :)
BTW; the stall at 14.05 (czcams.com/video/zoa0ZeJ_O4o/video.html) had MOTU Origins He-Man/Skeletor; maybe they have something She-Ra related too hidden in that area. Regular Origins She-Ra does come in a red MOTU card; not a pink POP one. Non brushable hair though ;)

This reminded me of my first cons. Lots of artists and ok crowds. I miss cons. 😭
It's nice to actually see some faces and people seem to be having fun. I saw some NYCC footage and everyone seemed depressed.
I was at NYCC. I don’t know which day you saw but I can assure you there was plenty of people who were excited and happy. I hung out with a group who was laughing and dancing. Did some people hate the mask? Definitely. Do I hate the mask? Yes. But many people still had fun.
Everyone is at comic book conventions right now and I’m stuck at home since I’m poor. XD
A lot of the smaller cons like this only cost about $20 admission. I attended Great Lakes Con in Michigan every year. It's very similar to what your seeing here. Lots of fun........and lots of real people. 👍

I miss those days, selling artwork at conventions and festivals. The border got strangely harder to cross with my art, needing to use a 3rd party to transport my stuff across the bridge I'm crossing anyway . Just a stupid money grab. too bad, as I would have liked to go to Altoona for that convention.
Now I wish I'd have gone to the convention if I knew you were going to be there.

I always hated Intellivision. The controllers sucked. The only time one of my friends had a distinct video game advantage was when we all went to his house to hang out.

Certainly looks like a lot of fun. Enjoy the convention. Lots of stuff to do on two floors. Lots of merchandise for sale along with some food vendors, Artist tables, etc. Anything Nerdy, Geeky is on display representing a lot of different fandoms but primarily focusing on Sci-Fi franchises ie Star Wars, Star Trek. Yet other non sci-fi franchises were present which is a good thing. JayCon10 got canceled due to the Pandemic as far as I can tell since they have not made any new updates on their FB page since the time before the convention got canceled. I’ll have to wait and see if they plan on getting it going again next year since I didn’t see anything for 2021, otherwise it might be a while before going to another convention. Keep up the good work 👏👍😁👍❤️🎥🍿🍍🥥🍻🇺🇸🍵🍰✅.

I'd go to SVC if it wasn't a 4 hour drive for me. Then there is also that I can't see that much to interest me at some of these cons.

@GordoScarface Its not until February......in the past, I met people like voice actors for She-ra, (the original), Dragon ball, comic writers Jim Starlin, and Tom DeFalco, etc.......not super big names, but it was cool to talk to them. I usually go to get graphic novels dirt cheap. I'm building a graphic novel library in my basement. And it's just fun. I think that con looked empty because it was still early in the morning on a Saturday. It'll probably be packed by the afternoon. 😊

You were there! I was there too, but I had no idea you were there too. I had a great time. I spent quite a bit on merchandise, and Sam Jones actually greeted me at the front door entrance while I was waiting in line
I miss the old cons. Dealers selling mego figures, Aurora model kits, hard to find movies and tv shows being sold on the gray market also movie posters,resin model kits,old comics and magazines. Everything now being sold are Etsy arts and crafts ,funko pops and beef jerky?

A lot of jewelry and the usual dealers room swag to sell. I'm glad I'm not there or I would be putting down some serious plastic for as much as I could carry. Going home, I always have the hotel help me ship it all home rather than carry on the plane. Not that I don't have suitcases overstuff with swag, just the same. The logistics of it all can be too much.
