Lol, the funny thing is, I wasn't even asking the ref to jump in, I said "Come on guys, take your guy off him" I didn't expect the ref to jump in but I guess he heard me say "Come on ref, take the guy off him" or something like that.
The Puck Stops Here no worries, bud. Reffed a lot of games like this and had plenty of bozos expect me to break up fights and that’s not in the job description at $30/game. I’ve also been blamed for a lot of blow outs like this, too. Because when ya get torched by 9 goals, it’s clearly the refs fault.

It's because you can learn the most from your worst games so I want to show them so everyone can learn from them.
U played great . As a goalie myself these games suck when u make a lot of good saves but allow several goals because your team is out matched and most of the goals are almost top quality chances

So I just finished my first season playing goal. I was supposed to be the back up and only play a few games, ended up playing all but 2. I wish I had these views and cameras set up so I could break down what I'm doing and see improvements. Watching you is like watching an NHL goalie, your movements and stops seem so fluid and professional. I got a lot of work still to do. I'm definitely enjoying the videos though, thanks!

I play for the NJ Avalanche tier 1 (forward), I always hear my goalie talking at our defensemen. it even got as bad as he had to scream at them. seeing this makes me want to do the same

I just won this tourny for my age group. Also we were watching a beer league game before our game and there was a fight so we told the goalie to go fight their goalie.

Haha that is to funny. Most goalies don't fight especially in beer league as there is no back up. So if you get kicked out and suspended, your team is left with no goalie.
Your team is either in the wrong division or the other team was playing down a level . Maybe 2 levels . You played great . Never quit . Battled every play .

Just listened to one of your podcasts about confidence and your mentality before and game and I had some thoughts. I don’t really know why this happens but whenever I would face really good teams I would mentally accept that I was probably going to loose this game, but somehow those games ended up being some of my best games yet, and thought u/or anyone else in comments might have on this
Perhaps it’s because you just had fun rather then overthinking everything because you figured you were going to loose. I find when I overthink things, that’s when I play the worst.
That’s just my opinion though and others might have other ideas as to why that happens.

What did you do right, that you're proud of? You don't have to be arrogant about it : given your style, I couldn't imagine you would be: but it would be great to know what you are excited about that you're doing right. For us new goalies it would be super helpful.

I wish I could say whether or not they will be available again but I can not guarantee it. If I were looking to make a quick couple bucks, I'd look for some old stuff laying around to sell. It's a great way to clean up a bit and to make some cash on the side.

Very few of the goals were the goalies fault. Brutal defence, they got beat way too high, minimal back pressure and weren’t covering the front of the net. Where was the centre helping out the defence in front?
It mostly comes down to being in a division 2 levels higher then we should have been. We were not ready for this team.
I’ve definitely been in that situation a lot in my young career over matched in games or in pick up games with different skill level players.
I play goalie but I also play defence so I play defence like I would want my defence to play in front of me. No breakaways, don’t get beat high, force them to the backhand outside, contain, back pressure etc...
I always wondered how I would do as a player and how much it would help being a goalie and knowing where to play positionally.
Playing goalie helps me as a forward and defence in different ways. On defence goalies like me (defensive defence man) , but I may screen the odd shot but I’ll block anything I can. Like a second goalie. On forward it helps with your offensive moves and shot selection & general game knowledge.

Yeah, why not. If you are playing in a leauge with no checking then you’ll be fine and if you try to be a goalie then just work on your speed so you can get across the crease faster.

You are good goalie but if your team is playing in different division you should concentrate to the deffensive side of the game because that needs improvement and also i suggest butterfly style because all the shots that they shooted almost went by the ice so that is a big thing and also dont get too off from the net because you have less time to react to one timers but good entertaining vid :D sorry for bad english im from finland

Just so you know, im not talking trash, I’m very new to playing goal, spent 20 years as a forward, and you channel and trav4oilers have been very helpful in just seeing things from a different perspective. Sorry, I should have clarified. In this tournament, we only played 2 period games. Rather then 3 10 minute periods, they do 2 15 minutes
