Love your content! i’m a goalie and I really enjoy watching you play and how you explain why the goals went in
Thanks! I am glad you like my videos and my breakdowns :)
"Are you sweating?" Hahahahaah ! He's got frozen feet for sure ! lol !
Lol I bet he did.
You played great man. Your team was just outmatched
Big time. It was a fun game nonetheless :)
Good Game Sam! You were definitely the busier goalie and made a bunch of 10-bell saves! Your 2nd half was excellent too, that glove grab was a beauty! Can't wait for the next one!
Thanks Mitch, yeah, I think I woke up after the 3rd goal.
I’d say that was a damn good game for you! You are a solid goalie if u ask me
Thank Will, it was a tough game for sure. Much better then the first game of the tournament,
You play a lot like Fleury out there, you should say “poke check” out loud every time you poke check
That's a huge complement! Thanks! And maybe I will say it haha.
So many jaw dripping saves this game 👏👏👏
So many opportunities to make them lol
I don’t play hockey, ( I play lacrosse ) but I really respect how you stay positive even when your getting a lot scored on you and even when you lose.
At least in my experience ( I played lacrosse as well XD) the goalie sets the mood man. If your your goalie is in the dumps then your in a bad way and your defense need to take some more shots to the body to help him out XD
At the end of the day it is a game that I love to play and I am grateful that I still get to play it.
Exactly, I actually talk about this in my last podcast. I go deep on how I communicate with my team and why positivity will always win!
That outher tender was insane
He looked good but we did not challenge him enough. Especially considering we only got 2 shots in the 2nd period.
Two words. Under seige! Nice glove work! Thanks Sam!
Lol, so true haha
Amazing as always, those glove saves were beauties! Felt like I was watching my last tournament, we were placed way too high and it was all I could do to lose by 7. Takes some of the fun out of it when all the offense is in your end the whole game. But...you get to see a lot of high end shots and get better because of it. You looked amazing out there. Also, can't wait to get my jacket!
Hey Nathan! Yeah not much you can do when you get out shot 32 - 10 lol. But it was still a ton of fun. I cant wait for you to get it too!
You played well. Good game!
Thanks :)
Phenomenal game, movement was on point. Not a lot you can do on a bunch of those. Nice job.
Thanks and yeah, I felt really good in this game.
6:23 canadien was being mr.exuses
CRAZY!! great game tendy.
Epic saves. Nice job love your content
Thanks, I am happy to hear you like my videos. :) I also just started a podcast, you should check it out. Just search Sam Mantini anywhere you listen to podcasts :)
At the gym atm, and your video has inspired me to do cardio 😂
BTW what do you use to record audio?
That's awesome lol. I wish I did more cardio leading up to this game. And the audio is recorded directly to the gopro hero session on my helmet.
@@ThePuckStopsHere Definetly getting a couple of leg days in helps performance as well!
Yes of course. Leg days are so important.
The best content for a new goalie
Love,
Pooptart
I appreciate you saying that. I hope new goalie do find my videos helpful. :)
Good job man. Some nice stops.
Great stuff Sam. You were catching on to their plays which was basically crowd one side and leave the guy open far side. You were reading those well. Those gloves saves were boderline child abuse.
Lol thanks. Yeah, thats what I talk about in my podcast "How playing against better, makes you better." It took a few quick goals but then I was able to adjust.
Nice I will try to get one
You won't regret it!
Haha that’s my union! I tried out but that team is solid!
Yeah? Where are they from? They are a great team. You should send them this video if you know anyone on it.
The Puck Stops Here it’s local 113 which is the amalgamated transit union(TTC, YRT, GO Transit), I’m pretty sure they’re all TTC though and I don’t know any of the guys personally though.
@@danielrinaldo59 I see. They are a great team. I didn't realize there was tryouts. I wonder where else they play
The Puck Stops Here I didn’t even know they were still playing, as far as I knew the team was only supposed to play in a charity game against the leafs alumni
Where do you play your games
This was a tournament out in Niagara Falls Ontario. But I play my regular season games in Toronto
its not even windmill Wednesday yet :)
Lol, If I take all those glove saves, is have enough for a few months of windmill Wednesday’s lol
Is it just me or at 5:49 number 5s jersey number changes colour?
Good catch, and I believe their jerseys had a red reflectiveness to them. So perhaps it just caught the light at that angle.
The Puck Stops Here ok thanks!
I don’t really know if this makes any sense, but is there any way to add more curve to the upper part of the pads to get better closure to the five hole? It so how?
Depends on the pad, if it's the post 1S gen of Bauer you can't add curve to them, if you CCM, Brians, or Vaughn, you can store them upside down and the weight will curve the pad naturally
Yeah, DeathByTheFox is right, It also helps to have the right sized pads and be sure to stretch :)
That other goalie is fast!!
Yeah he was pretty good.
I would love to be a goalie but it’s too expensive and I’m from Arizona so it’s hard to find a league
Yeah, it can be pricy but once you buy a set of gear, it should last you many years!
@@ThePuckStopsHere If your done growing that is. :P
To me, that looked like an opponent that didn't want to run the score up and was happy to move the puck around and just tire your guys out as long as they held a 3 goal lead...
Probably a weird question, but how tall are you?
Not weird at all. I get asked all the time lol. I am 6"0
I bought my first chesty yesterday! 30 bucks used.
Nice! From where?
@@ThePuckStopsHere Kijiji.ca, its a bit older but i'm just trying to get seriously into goalie. so that works for me.
@@ThePuckStopsHere Any recommendations for a glove/blocker set? I like to play more blocking and dont mind something a bit older. just if you have any tips.
Good find. I love Kijiji!
I really like my CCM's but I don't know how their older stuff holds up. I guess it depends on how old of gear you are looking for.
I’m gonna guess the high stick wasn’t called because it was pretty close to being the follow through of a shot attempt. Definitely borderline but I’d say a good non-call
6:20 where the defense at😹also that save tho
Thanks!
I need help
With what?
I HAVE A 100 PERCENT I AM GOING TO GET ONE
Nice :)
If you stood up to make the save the ones wouldn't have went in
Yeah that could have helped for sure. Also being in the right division would have helped too lol
E division vs C2 🤣
Yeah, it was pretty crazy
@@ThePuckStopsHere which ashl league you play in?
Etobicoke. This was a tournament in Niagara though
I'm suprised u haven't scored yet
That would be so cool if I did. Hopefully one day :)
You need better defense dude they can’t even cover a guy going to the net also I think you’re a pretty good goalie just not on a very good team
ios Rex thanks and we were playing in a division 2 levels higher then what we asked to play in. Not much my team could do when the other team was just more skilled then us.
U need more help from the defence
Yeah, this is a tournament where we were put in 2 levels higher then we requested. So not much we could do really.
@@ThePuckStopsHere Ok now i understand
#44...come on!!!??? Stay home if you aint gona work hard....
Haha
First comment!!!!!!!!!!
Nice!!!!
2 month old vid, 1 dislike
Midget_Gaming94 not to bad lol I wonder who was the one dislike haha
I think you guys are just in the wrong division.
In my area your team would be a d level. Which is novice/ guys who have played high school , not much higher.
The other team looked like a c level. Slightly more advanced .
Nothing against you guys.
I've been in the same spot.
This looks like an open class style tournament where teams are sent to semi-finals in divisions based on their round robin first 3 games. I agree on the big difference between both teams. Here, in Montreal, Sam's team would be an E team, whereas the other team would be a C team.
Yeah, in this tournament they put us 2 levels higher then we asked for, so we knew we were going to get killed.
Exactly, we signed up to play in 2 division lower but they forget and put us in this one.
@@JoeyVilleneuve very possible.
Just so there's no confusion on divisions .
In my area
A- college level or better.
B- college level, very competitive high school players.
C- high school players, upper level novices
D- novices .
D has the largest group as many older guys who can't keep up with their skill level play down to this level. Etc.
Some leagues have a lower , and upper D.
But it realistically could be an e division.
Open division tournaments for goalies can be brutal for a lot of reasons.
Mainly lower level guys inconsistent shooting , then trying to tune back into guys who can fire the puck with accuracy.
It can be a real crapshoot.
@@ThePuckStopsHere years ago maybe 15, I went to long island for a roller hockey tournament.
We were a lower mid level team.
Somehow we ended up in the top level . Oh boy.
We knew when the other team had a sponsor in game 1 with full matching uni's, and gear we were screwed! Lol
That was painful .
Like the same feeling of being down by more goals than we had shotS!
Defence is crap
