New chief aims to make British army twice as lethal

  • The new head of the army has said he aims to “double the lethality” of the force in three years and treble it by the end of the decade by buying smart ammunition such as missiles with multiple warheads and drone swarms that can kill more fighters at the same time.
General Sir Roly Walker, a former member of the SAS who survived a roadside bomb in Afghanistan, wants to make the overall army “more [like the] special forces”, coming up with novel solutions for ways to defeat the enemy without necessarily relying on expensive equipment such as more tanks.

Saying all the right things to appease the MoD and the politicians. Our current Army is still trying to achieve with 72,000 personnel what they did with 120,000. Numbers are absolutely essential.
Plus that traitor Cameron included pension payments in the military budget of 2%. There are 2.5 million military veterans and pensioners.

If the Armed Forces were ordered to stop the Dinghies crossing the Channel then they would do, it’s quite simple.
Until an Order is given then the crossings will carry on.
The Military works on Orders, they just can’t do anything about this problem until told to do so. So when the Politicians get their thumbs out of their arses and hand over to the Military we will always have this issue or don’t you understand this @AzovSS?

As a veteran, we kept being told about a more modern army? (cutbacks) a more efficient army? (cutbacks) a more task focused army? (cutbacks) we were only soldiers but we knew when we were being shafted, every time we got a pay rise. Rarely, our food and accommodation costs went up to the same degree so we were never better off, we knew that our equipment was sub-standard, we spent less time training because of the costs of ammunition and other such things like fuel, spare parts.
This has gone on for decades and is the same for all branches of the military, I am surprised the Navy don't have wooden ships again.

The infantry's role is to take and hold ground. By focusing on electronic warfare, uncrewed systems, air defence, long range fires at the expense of boots on the ground (not saying we shouldn't be improving those other things by the way) the MOD is implicitly saying that the army is now not designed to take or hold ground. They should come out and make that honest statement and not kid ourselves about our capability. Then we wouldn't need to waste money on assets that are in reality only window dressing (Challenger 3, Boxer?). There isn't enough money to go around, don't pretend otherwise or try to be good at everything because you'll end up being good at nothing.
