- This is how you save some money as an owner operator. Knowing how to perform your own routine maintenance can save you thousands down the road. Watch as I perform an oil change on a C15 Caterpillar 6nz motor.

Congratulations on 100k subscribers. It's good to see someone working on there own truck, I would if the boss would allow me (all trucks in our company have a maintenance contract). I was always told when I was learning ; it's always best to prefill your filters. When changing oil filters, also put a little drop of oil on the seal. Keep up the good work and have many safe miles. Greetings from the Netherlands
Ive always done oil changes the same way prefill all filters besides collant your better then most TA techs 😂 that engine is a master piece with not one bit of oil or fuel or collant leaks anywhere that explains a lot about a driver/owner i do my pMs at 12-14 k miles
Those TA tech are fresh out of high school. They can't touch my truck. That's my very last option. Only if I'm in a desperate situation. I normally change mine every 10k miles, but this particular oil change was a little over 12k. That's why I did it in CT. Couldn't wait until I got back to NC. I would have been well over. 🫡🫡

Great video bro! Just a little trick I use on my oil filter take a screwdriver and put a hole in the bottom to drain the oil it's a lot easier to take a empty filter off plus no mess! Be safe driver!!
Yo, Marv!! Just ran across your channel bro! Nice whip, too! I have a 98 379 with a 1LW Cat 3406E. This is some great material. I have a 13y/o son who loves big trucks and helps with all the self maintenance. He's learning his way around the truck and has taken over the greasing for me and several other owner/ops in the neighborhood. Located in South Louisiana. Thanks for the content and looking forward to binge watching previous videos. Keep trucking, bro!!

It's very possible. For the past 5 months, I haven't gone out on a trip and didn't run into someone who follows/subs to my social media. I mainly run up and down the east coast these days. 2 weeks ago, when I went out, I met a total of 9 people. Pretty cool!

Funny thing everybody that don't top off the fuel filter, like to stand there and hand pump the primer😂. What they like to do in there free time😂😂😂😂😂. Great video
😂😂😂
My guy! Good video, love seein it. Hearing you explain everything is great advice. Can you do a video explaining how you became an owner/operator and what you learned along the way? I retire from the Military soon, I’m heavily considering getting behind the wheel of a truck because I don’t have to necessarily work with anyone, and I don’t know how my adjustment into the “normal world and workforce” will be. It also seems pretty lucrative, and I want to seamlessly crossover without taking a major hit to my usual income. So I’m looking to get more insight from someone who is doing it and what you believe will be some of the hurdles I, and others who may be considering doing what you are may encounter.
First, I wanna say thank you for your service! 🫡🪖 I actually plan on doing a video on how I got started in trucking and everything I went through along the way. It's too much to type, but stay tuned for that video within the next week or 2. God bless.
Thanks for your service, Sir!
Amen to the put God First comment at the end! Coming from someone that has went from working on trucks to driving, then back to working in a shop on trucks "KEEP DOING WHAT YOUR DOING BROTHER YOU WILL MAKE IT FAR"!
Morning time driva. Gotta do regular oil changes and grease dem fittings. It’s best to do it yourself cause you know it’s done right. Keep dat lil man with you if you can. Love you brah. Keep putting dat kitty cat in gear ⚙️

Granby st fineness🤜🏿
Hey you might want to look at Archoil AR9100 its for HEUI engines like CATs and old 7.3L Internationals... Instead of Lucas which is good too..... I use it in my 2000 7.3L Ford truck works great half a million miles and still pulls like new... Plus I prefill my filters too proof is in the miles! May our LORD and Savior continue to Bless you and your family!!!!
Poke a hole in your oil filter/vent the cap while the pan is draining! Makes the oil filter not so heavy
Great vid! Do you think in the future you can make a detailed video about the truck (exterior, interior, drivetrain specs etc…) ? Thanks 🙏🏽
I will. Working on putting so lights on my trailer next week. Will do one video with the truck and trailer.
I delivered in Bloomfield for nearly 30 years
🔥🔥🔥
👍👍
Ohio diesel graduate here and I never had a teacher that said fuel and oil filters shouldn't be filled prior to re installing them. Even before I went to diesel school, I filled the filters and still do on all my ICE vehicles.
That's the only way I know how to do it. If you search well enough, you'll find a couple of guys on here telling you why they don't prefill the filters.
@@presy_jay I've seen the argument and I'll never change my ways, lol. You're an inspiration to a younger generation my friend, the epitome of a real trucker. I did OTR for about 6 years when I first got my CDL, saved each paycheck and then bought a truck to go O/O for my uncle, hauling steel. Got out of that after my dad got cancer and I had to care for him, went to hauling aggregate in a day cab local now. I like being home every day now as I can take care of my older brother who's mentally challenged. I kept my 359 and use it for shows and hauling equipment on the side. 3406B with a bigger turbo and some fuel, making 595/1990 on the dyno with an 18 spd. Pulls a Cozad lowboy and a D-6 like it doesn't know it's there, lol! Stay safe and be well my friend! I'll keep watching and supporting you.
@genefogarty5395 God bless you, my brother! You're a great man who puts family values over money! There are not a lot of people out there like that these days. Keep taking care of big bro. I'm sure he appreciates it. Thanks for those kind words and encouragement, btw. 🫡🙏🏽
Jamaica 🇯🇲 wad up, good job
Thought you let the truck set over night, get that oil fully drain
Oil actually flows better when it's hot.
Feel you
👍👍👍
