Archaeology aims to open a window into the past by unearthing artifacts that show exactly how humans' ancestors used to live. But sometimes, experts have discovered archaeological finds that rewrote history. Rather than confirm a commonly held belief (cavemen weren't intelligent!), these finds would upend it (cavemen made art and crafted advanced tools!). More recent historical artifacts that rewrote history have changed the way people think about ancient civilizations and humanity as a whole.

IMO, the OG narrator had a more elastic voice that let him land the jokes. He read the script more slowly and had better timing.
Weird History Narrator: *"Archaeological finds ..."*
Me: *"Who is this impostor?"*
RIGHT?????
Where's the Stephen Colbert soundalike??
@@ChristopherPayneMUA How dare you!!??
Ancient budget cuts take down an ancient library. Some things never change. lol
This narrator has my full support. Just because he's not the voice we're familiar with doesn't mean he's not worthy of narrating on this channel. I wonder how many of us would be overjoyed if we had the option to narrate. This guy doesn't make Weird History any less than before. I'm supportive wholeheartedly.
Bring back the original voiceover guy
Hi! I’ve been watching this channel for years with my siblings, and I have always wanted to request a video about the history of type one diabetes. My younger sister has it and I think it would be cool to make a video about! Most people have a lot of misconceptions about T1D, confusing it with type two mostly!
"... that features giant T-shaped monoliths, pitying any fools who walks near them" is a fantastic joke, which I will use any time I see any T-shaped anything around me.
I bet there were so many instances of this and there will be if we can ever rediscover what lost ruins have to offer.
"Like a bunch of Thomas Eddisons" nice
Cold
Most surprising to me were the African coins in Australia
while that is interesting it doesnt proove they went there, coins travel through trade routes, so its more likely it got there via trade.
similer to how roman coins ended up in china and vise versa
@DannyIO true. The reason why I found it interesting is because Australia is so remote
So much of the history we learn is Eurocentric, I'm willing to believe Cook discovered Australia about as much as Columbus discovered America, lol.
@@lisapop5219 i heard homo erectus or the homo habilis travel throu the world
Cook was preceded by Dirk Hartog in 1616, who was preceded by Willem Janzsoon in 1606. But they landed on opposite sides of the country, and neither recognised that what they landed on was a whole different continent.
2:53 My dog ate my homework! Hahaha!
That is a classic!
Actually, a dog of the writer John Steinbeck did eat up half of his manuscript of Mice and Men and he had to ask for more time.
Archaeology is the peeping Tom of the sciences. It is the sandbox of men who care not where they are going; they merely want to know where everyone else has been.

Curiosity killed the cat but for a while I was a suspect.
Why are you pushing Better Help? They sell clients therapy data to corporations.
And don't even have licensed therapists
I don’t know why we’re getting a new narrator… he’s trying.. it’s just the original one is so good…
I'm here for the info.
The way he says today makes my blood curdle
0:47 For the film Up In Smoke (1978), I remember the beginning when they siphoned gas into that bin hahaha!
Attempting to tolerate a new narrator is one thing, but embedded ads, that’s too much…you’ve changed Weird History 😔🥺😢
and this my friends, is why Sponserblock exists.
Made worse by a sponsor that's a KNOWN SCAM.
"Feces Analyzer By M. Hankey". I didn't know Mr. Hankey, The Christmas Poo has a PHD 😁
That's *Doctor* Hankey to you!
@@jbkhan1135 "Dr. Hankey, the Christmas Poo, he loves me, he love you " 😁
Shaman got so high forgot where he left his stash.
I hate that when it happens.
@@thegreencat9947 The worst part is that by using some he could have a vision of the future where he finds his stash but he need the dam stuff to have his vision.
Karahan Tepe, which is situated near Göbeckli Tepe is even older
The first narrator set the standard way up high. It's not our fault we find his work far superior than all other WH narrators. Sorry.
Yeah I don't get why they keep doing this. They just know the views are way lower when it's not the OG. Just wait until OG can do it. We'll wait.
I know that we all were used to the original voice on this channel and I totally understand that we were surprised hearing a new narrator and it was weird at first but c'mon guys. Give this man a break and give him a chance to develop his narrative and his way of reading.❤️
5:44 Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle are three of the most famous teachers in history.
No WI-FI written on that wall was pretty funny!
You know what it is? it sounds like he’s reading the script not like he wrote it. I’m sure the other guy didn’t write the script either but you believe him.
Really interesting video! As someone interested in history and archaeology, I love things like this. Great job!
Wait, Julius Caesar was a dictator, not an emperor?
He was emperor officially. The Senate voted him Emperor for life.
I partly watch this channel for the original narrator’s sense of humour and his voice. This one leaves me cold.
1:54 It is the Year of the Dragon!
6:37 Speaking of shellls, the "first unit of currency was the cowrie shell." (Educational Coins)
The best archaeological finds can be found looking through ancient garbage dumps.
"Once upon a time; research indicated _____"
Wow. Good job citing your sources there.
My cat would get upset with me after I'd give him bath& he'd deliberately knocked down all of my framed pictures and figurines off of a shelf!😂 RIP my sweet baby kitty! His name was "Poison" after the '80's hair metal band!
Okay… It seems like Weird is going to keep pushing new voices no matter how much we protest, but I hope they keep trying, because this guy ain’t it.
At this point, just deal with it. It’s not our channel, not our call. Bitching like whiny little toddlers over a different narrator isn’t going to get us anywhere.
Harsh.
It really doesn't hit the same.
He sounds like he doesn't care. His voice isn't funny
Yeah... sounds like a femboy who works on retail service...
I also want the old voice…but maybe he got a bad pneumonia with a violent cough 😷 and damaged his vocal chords so now he has to rest and that could take up to 2 months. That’s brutal 😬
I just read a story (released yesterday) that Taylor Swift baked Pop-Tarts for the Kansas City Chiefs during one of their pre-games and it won over the offensive linemen.
Maybe pop-tarts are more of a hit than I previously imagined...
1:16 There is a Decoding the Unknown episode about the Dead Sea Scrolls called The Mysterious Dead Sea Scrolls.
This sight hands down has the best narrator. But this guy is not the one.
5:45 I thought that the Antikythera mechanism was an excelllent treasure for the film Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023).
I just think that the support culture is much weaker than for the original Indiana Jones trilogy in the 80s.
It's a similar phenomena to how much less well-received the Star Wars prequels were after 1999, it just doesn't have the same support.
Covid put the kibosh on movie theaters and now DVDs are disappearing from stores. Everything is "streaming" now. It sux. Very sad
@@davidlancaster8152 I really like seeing films in the theater (saw that one in the theater). It is so much more enjoyable.
@@btetschner I'm a movie addict. I have about 1200 DVDs and over 500 VHS but I love the theater experience. My thing is, if a movie is good I can watch it a bunch of times. Like a good song. I didn't even know about the new Indiana Jones until Tasha from After The Snap movies and reviews mentioned it about two weeks ago. She's awesome by the way and does great live chat. You might enjoy.
@@davidlancaster8152 I would check her channel out but I already have four YT movie channels already (Two React ones, One film review, and one that goes over a lost of aspects of films) and they are fantastic. Thank you for the recommendation though!
@@davidlancaster8152 I am going to watch 11 films from April 1-11 (one a day) that have a specific genre (if you are interested).
Couldn't finish the video.... narrators timing on jokes is horrible and seems way too rushed.
3:39 The sister of Simon Whistler, from the YT channel Decoding the Unknown, is a huge fan of Animorphs.
Simon Whisler has a sister who's on the tube? That's almost scary. Shudder
@@davidlancaster8152 She hasn't ever been on any videos of his that I have seen, but he has brought up her passion for Animorphs at least twice in his videos.
@@btetschner Simon is a trip. Can only imagine his sister but when I do imagine it's not good. Lol. Thanks for explaining. I really appreciate your time.
Well Australia was once part of Papua new Guinea and all the other small island can't remember on how much the islands were on top on Australia because they say that the Aboriginals of Australia all ways walked that far for trade cloths, food and so on so it for sure way before Captain James Cook. So you would say way before The great continent shift
You're talking about events that were millions of years apart, there were no humans anywhere when the continents were connected the way you are thinking about.
I can't watch this channel without the OG. I mean... Oh dear! The voice!!!!!!
Not this narrator 😢
Like a junior high student reading to elementary school students.
8:50 It would be fascinating to know what was in that library!
1:54 Reminds me of the film The Island of Dr. Moreau (1996)!
Just watched that the night before last, fantastic film!
Nope. Not doing it with the JV squad announcer.
9:45 The mascot of Southeast Community College (my community college) is Bobcats.

Arcamedes alarm clock ⏰️ was an amazing discovery although poor Arcamedes was constantly late for everything after losing it, true story.
8:13 That reminds me of the skeleton used in the films Curse of Frankenstein (1957) and Revenge of Frankenstein (1958) both with Peter Cushing.
I watched those films yesterday and last night with the film The Island of Dr. Moreau (1996)!
9:52 There is a community cat that I named Figaro, he looks almost identical to that image!
7:00 Speaking of leather works, we used to have after-school programs in elementary school where we did things like sewing and leather work.
For awhile there I thought you were going to leave Gobekli Tepe out. Whew!
😂 Naw,naw, naw to the hell naw😂😂 Bring back OG narrator
His voice makes it harder for me to retain info
9:16 "The Guinness world record for the most overdue library book is held by one returned to Sidney Sussex College." (Sidney Sussex College)
"It was borrowed in 1668 and returned 288 years later." (Sidney Sussex College).
the african coins found in Australia for sure was surprising! western culture always promotes this idea that europeans were the first to settle places, and so it's great to hear information that basically goes, "well, that's not true."
I'd love to hear of non-European explorers like Zheng He and Masa Musa!
You should do some videos about the old New York mafia
How about a video on all the evidence of human giants?
These changes would not stop me from buying tools. They need to protect their bottom line. That's what businesses do. Businesses don't open to lose money.
9:27 There is a community cat that stops by my house everyday that looks just like him, I named him General.
Gobekle tepe also has the first window
Ok video. Great Mr. T reference.
12:03 There is no "t" in Skechers! (Until Mr. T. comes along...)
That was an awesome Superbowl commercial!
Actually, my next pair of shoes is going to be one of the pairs off of that commerical! (I am a big Mr. T fan)
What happened to the Library at Alexandria? Caesar did it! Nope, budget cuts. MF.
I heard owlbear and now i cant focus on the video
1:56 I'm pretty sure that's TROGDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR
12:03 Interestingly...there may not be any "t" in Skechers (until Mr. T comes along)...
But Donald Trump's new golden shoes only have a "T" for the emblem.
The limited edition shoes (costing $399) sold out immediately.
Ms. Weird history lady's voice was just starting to grow on me, but suddenly there are even more new voices. 😥 the voice of the OG narrator is really part of weird history's brand.
I got through 0:55.... I can't do it😓. I tip my hat to the rest of you....
10:10 James Cook died in 1779, 200 years before I was born (1979).
He also has the same family name Nebraska's star volleyball coach, John Cook.
A+ video!
LOVE IT! So fascinating what they found!
Eyyy, gobekli tepe! Learned about that from Mini Minute Man.
11:14 That is incredible, what a discovery!
Always a good history lesson. No matter what narrator.
Feel bad for this New Voice Guy.
OG Voice Guy is a tough act to follow.
But gimme dat OG Voice Guy!
One second in. Nope. There will not be two seconds in.
Man bring back the og voice guy!!! Pay him more money or something!!!"
"Medicore"? Kinda generous there, eh buddy?
Abysmal.
Bring back the OG narrator please.
3:30 That looks like the beginnings of a bonfire!
Bonfire Night is my #1 holiday that should be celebrated in the US!
My #2 choice is Misfit Night (October 30th).
One skull 💀 does not a species make.
Can you make a video about the crusades.
I ned the guy from Minimuniteman to do a review of this video
Honestly everytime I hear this guys voice i think of the honey badger badass video 😂
10:06 There is a community cat that I named Billie Eilish that looks identical to that one.
There are several similar structures in the same area as Gobekli Tepe, that are some centuries or millennia older. Also, the new narrator is less annoying if you set the video to a slower speed (in the 0.9 to 0.75 range), but I still prefer the old one.
Honestly, the ongoing comments from many viewers not liking any of the new narrators is tiresome.
Ever heard the saying, “if you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all”?
It’s one thing if you are giving constructive criticism to maybe help these new narrators grow and become what you may want from them but the off the cuff negative comments without it is unnecessary.
We get it, you all love the old narrator!! But give these new ones more time to grow and find their own way of doing it. Plus give the writers time to find ways to enhance these new narrators too.
Sounds like Small Beans
I think they should keep this narrator full time just for the people constantly crying in the comment sections
Passive aggressive. Lol. Too good 👍😅
Right?!!!
where is the OG?
I can't. I just can't. I'm not even five minutes into this video and I have to stop watching.
There is an art to narration - this guy - with all due respect - does not have a radio voice, so to speak. 🤷♂️
I don't care who narrates as long as they give me good content. The old narrator was also good and the new narrator is also good. Hey, New Narrator! Don't pay attention to others! Keep doing your job as best as you can (same for the old narrator)! 💕
Michael Swaim is a god among men. We need more Michael Swaim funny in these, yo.
Not a fan of Milhouse narration
Oh man, bring back the old voice
