Likely more stressful for him to not hear daily shelling.
A break in the bombardment just means the enemy is correcting their aim.
What he probably doesn't know is that garden worlds don't have any strong protection, so he is the land fort of this planet capable of serving for the emperor.
The ASMR of daily shelling and the screams of his comrades getting eaten by gene stealers in the distance always help put him to sleep.

The fact that the idea of an average krieg soldier being relocated to a Garden World plays out just like an isekai, really says something about the state of humanity in 40k
It is a krieg soldier, even by 40k humanity's standard he is extreme.

Honestly, I feel like being stationed on a simple world like this would actually *strengthen* a Krieger’s resolve instead of letting it falter. Yes, the resolve to “atone” might lessen slightly, but let’s assume for a moment that this world ever, EVER, came under attack. You fight because you love what is behind you.
Krieger knows what peace is, they know what their planet looked like before the civil war, what it was to live on Krieg, to see its beautiful sunsets, to contemplate its infinite green meadows and to live in its shining hive cities, protected from whatever could come from the exterior.
I think that a Krieger lucky enough to live even a brief instant on a peaceful planet would do anything to preserve it from both inside and outside enemies.

Considering Krieg's doctrine, i am sure he will excell in work requiring excavation and construction.
As for his place, clearly it is the will of the Emperor to test if the Kriegers can exist in his perfect world!
After all, that is why the Astartes replaced the Thunder Warriors. One can exist without war, the other cannot.
In the 41st millennium there is only war.
Can Astartes live without war? I thought the Thunder Warriors were eliminated because, although they were more effective in battle than space Marines, they were unsuitable for the transfer of troops for space conquests, and their genetic material was so unstable that they would surely have been defiled by Chaos simply from being in the Warp. Actually, the Space Marines could also be removed, because they are genetic super soldiers who have no other goal than to conquer the galaxy in the shortest possible time.
@@deusexmemeshina1303 See, the Emperor may have been a terrible father, but he realized that of course the thunder warriors would rebel once they had no purpose left en the Emperor's vision of the future. It was also the thing Horus feared, both of himself, his brothers, and his sons.

There is that Thunder Warrior that lived a long and peaceful life, so I don't think that story holds up. More likely he wanted warriors made from his own sons and not just guys who are just dudes. Children soldiers and such being easier to control.

Purpose isn't something one considers when slaughtering and dying in the Emperor's name.
But this... Does put a smile in my face
Lets not forget that the kriegers are devoted soldiers of The Emperor, not just a bunch of suicidal freaks. If the order is to die in battle - they will go and die. If the order is to settle on a peaceful world - they will do that without questions. Anything for the forgivness of the Emperor of course.

My heart melted
This is both the joy and horror of 40k.
In a galaxy like it we can have pleasant Harvest Moon like planets with good nature, cheer, and joy...
Resting in the same galaxy as legions of soldiers told to die to repent for a crime they have already been forgiven of, but must still fight because the imperium finds them too useful to officially forgive.
I like to imagine there's a parallel universe similar to W40k except all of the horror, warp madness and grimdark stuff in the first actually generate a cosmic auto-balance phenomenon that makes the other ones all wholesome, peaceful and happy.
What's that old saying?
"To die for a cause is a great sacrifice. To live for a cause, an even greater one."
Sounds like the wrong voice for a Kriegsman
I need an episode where the Kriegsman finds out shovels are meant to dig holes with instead of bashing in heads.
