Good video conners, those 20gr can be hit and miss in most hmr's, it would probably do better with the standard 17gr polymer tipped ammo from hornady, remington, federal or winchester
It must be so much fun reviewing and shooting! Dream job!
Great that you've done an honest review. That accuracy is awful at 50 yards though. I'm guessing the 17gr stuff would've shot better.
that what a lot of people are saying so we're going to test it again with some A17!
Good honesty review
Thanks, we try to give it how it is! Quite honestly we were a bit gutted with the accuracy and need to do some more testing most others we speak to have had a different experiance with it!
I have the 16" barrel version which cloverleafs at 60m with 17gn Remington. A test with a variety of ammo would of been more decisive I think.
We have some different types of ammo now so are going to test it again for sure!
Great review! Not gonna lie the way you break grip and sight picture to cycle the bolt every time really bothers me though
Yeah. Kinda like watching my wife drive.
I have the Tikk1 T1x 17hmr and using 17grn polymer tipped (Remington and Norma) I was able to at 100yds achieve cloverleaf groups. Only modification I had made at that point was lighening the trigger pull, running a SAK mod and a very old Nikko Stirling nighteater 6-24x50
Cheers mate, ya just talked me out of buying one.
@ 50m that should be clover leafing....especially using the rest you use.... you should have maybe tried other ammo to cancel out the ammo issue.
After filming we tried lots of other ammo and it does indeed cloverleaf at 50 yards, it liked A17 the best.
Why would you only test one ammo? As stated in other comments, 17grains preform much better. Mine will shoot .4 inch groups at 100 yards with hornady.
Bit late for party but for my experience 20 grain gamepoints shot very badly from sako quad. But hornady xtp version what is effectively exacly
same bullet with differend label i can cover 3 shos with finger point in 100 meters.
Same story with norma 17 grain. But overally yes 17 grain bullets will behave better in those guns.
We've got some CCI A17 on the way and will be running some test with that and various other ammo when it arrives for sure!
@@Gunroomtv A17 was okay ammo.
For my quad HB and cousin tikka t1x in both it shot bit less than inch group for 100 meters. Federal both v-max and tnt about half inch. 3 shot groups.
How many locking lugs ?
My t1x shoots best with the 15,5gn hornady ntx copper bullets, by a considerable margin.
Not totally honest, I have a 22lr and a 17hmr t1x, no modification needed to fit a T3x stock, or a grs stock. Plus the bolt shrouds are plastic.
And my 20” 17 hmr t1x groups .7 moa at 100 yards.
The stocks we have fitted them in have needed modification and that was our experience with them, can assure you it's the truth and we haven't made it up!
Why are you even talking about the gun? we all know that 17hmr ammunition is manufactured to very low standards and is almost certainly the cause of the disappointing accuracy. You tested one lot of one variety and then talk about the GUN disappointing?! You know better than to do that.
Not very impressive tbh. Did you test different ammo types?
We didn't in the video, but we did after and the 17grn stuff is super accurate, it was just poor with the ammo we were using in the video. Have a look at some of the other comments below!
2 MOA at 50 yards is pretty piss poor, at best. Get a CZ...
Have a look at some of the comments below from others who have the rifle, the ammo we were using was pretty rubbish and it groups much better than that with A17 and other light rounds!
@@Gunroomtv - All I know is my CZ .22LR shoots sub MOA with bulk ammo at 50 yards. My CZ .17HMR just makes one ragged hole at 50...just saying...buy a CZ!
