One thing I was shown to zero a rifle using less ammo is to fire a shot, then keep looking through the scope while keep it on your point of aim and move the dials until the cross hairs move to where the bullet hit. Can save some time and some ammo.
laser sight first. then shoot to verify. i have never had to shoot more than 3 rounds to tackdrive.
@@constitutionalrepublican1611 yep laser setup only 39.99 to save countless rounds.
I had a bore laser and it was terrible. It would make a 2 foot circle pattern at 30 yards if you spun the casing in the chamber. If i have a bolt action I'll bore sight to get it on paper.
Boresighted myTika1x to within 3 inches.
Or you can do simple addition and dial the optic over
Can absolutely attest that the .17HMR is deadly out to 250 yards. Did some prairie dog hunting out in North Dakota and it was devastating! Love the videos!
Awesome
@@roberttaylor8261 Oh I have. They’re wicked fast. But personally, between the HMR and WSM, I like the HMR more.
17hmr. Sure thing boss. It’s like a laser within 100 yards. Kills rabbits dead and they don’t even know it. No twitch, no wiggle, nothing.
I know a guy that prairie dog hunts with a 17HMR. Him and his son make a game of it and call the shot like you would in pool. Which eye, ear, noise, you get the picture.
175 yards is doable. Trust me.
There are videos of people hunting rabbit, squirrels, prairie dogs, and even foxes with .17HMR. It’s a tack driving caliber. Easily a 300 yard round.
@@sog4646 250 is i do it every year.
It'll hamburger the brain on a whitetail too. Hit a buck with 30.06 and go find him, hit him in the brain with the .17hmr and there's no need to find anything.
Someone needs to tell the advertisers that ANYTHING that has NOTHING to do with guns has NO CHANCE OF SELLING ME ANYTHING!!! thank you
Just get adblock and no more adds ever, google it, its free and works great
Watching you dial those turrets like it was a 1968 radio dial was entertaining! Learning a little basic math will save you some ammo while sighting in. Nice shooting!
I will not Lie, that is some of the BEST group I have EVER seen at 100 yards by ANY caliber. And the wind was blowing!!! Great shooting Hoss!!! 👍
I have the savage A17 hmr. I love it, it is my favorite gun to shoot. I can cut holes at 100 yards with it. The furthest I've ever shot with it was 400yards. I held about 12 inches high. I had confirmation with 2 witnesses too. I wouldn't have believed it myself. Good video
17HMR is, in a good rifle, extremely accurate and devastating on small game at reasonable distances. Have owned a Savage tack driver for many years
I hunt Hogs with my 17hmr ear shot drop them every time
I’ve nailed a bunch of coyotes with it but if it ain’t a head shot it ain’t gonna die
@@mattacedo oh they will die … but not fast lol… foxes with a heart or lung shot are the biggest animals I would shoot without a headshot with one
@@user-no9qb6lj7c I believe that!

Adam maybe the only guy in the milky Way that makes adjustments after every single shot but it's a lot better than watching the inauguration!
The potato inauguration one hour into it, only had over 100k views after 6 hours the video only had 290k views, that my friend should tell you everything.
I often adjust my rifles, especially the 17hmr, after each shot, especially, if you can call your shot.

The 17hmr works really well out to 150yds on prairie dogs. But I have used it out to 200 yds on calm days. It's a laser beam inside of 100 yds.
Man that was some nice 1moa groups
Sometimes I get lucky
Watched both you videos today. Good content gentlemen keep it up
Thank you Tyler
The Marlin 917 is an amazing rifle I have the 917 vs
Love the 2A CZcams community sticking together!
I have a CZ in 17hmr. I have shot 1/2in groups at 100yds. Its a laser beam. I just hate paying for the ammo....
My wife has a Savage 17hmr with a bull barrel and a sweet 17 scope and accue trigger sighted in @ 100 yds. My 10/22 carbine (for this game) sighted in @ 100 yds. We each hit a clay pigeon on the 100 yrd berm, then you have to hit every fragment till you can't see any more. She can hit 1/4" fragments consistently with that thing. We giggle like little kids and talk smack at each other.
Those little Marlins don't get enough credit. I've got a 925M in 22 mag and it gives groups just as good.
Yea bud a lot of signs look like this in my county. That 17 video looks like fun, as all your videos are. Gods speed to Who Tee Who and family. 👍🇺🇸🙉🙈🙊
I have a Tikka 17 HMR perfect for Rabbits and foxes here in Australia.
Thanks for sharing the video and great grouping the 6 shots on 100 Yards.👌👌
That's impressive sir! I shoot only 17HMR and I shoot 3 times a week at 100 yards. I shoot 5 shot groups and can cover all 5 shots with a dime. I've never lost an accuracy contest at 100 yards with even competitive bench rest shooters but I practice a lot! I mean a lot!
Love the 17 HMR. Dropped back coyote at 165 yards. And it's a great squirrel sniper.
Nice shooting WTW. Never owned a .17HMR but have shot one many years ago. Awesome on the bunnies and very accurate. I bet you're proud of that group you shot without even really trying. Keep on doing what you do! Love all your vids. Whoooooo teeeeee whoooooo!
Always appreciate you watching
I almost picked up a Tika .17 HMR a couple months ago, because the ammo was widely available at the time. Decided investing in air guns might be a better way to go. About a week later, all the .17 HMR ammo was sold out. My Hatsan Sortie PCP in .177, no problem getting pellets, and filling its reservoir with a hand pump is free.
One shot, move from point of aim to point of impact. Knew this seventy years ago. Only problem after that is barrel heat, wind, ammo inconsistency, rifle fouling and most of all how good is the shooter.
Have been shooting a Savage HB with thumbhole stock for years. Extremely accurate. Best shot took out two ground squirrels in line at 250 yards.
17HMR is one of my go to rifles. I appreciate all the great videos you have been putting out. Keep them coming! I would love to see a hunt with the 350 legend.
Picked up a Marlin 17VS and Buckmasters 6-18x40 BDC scope in 2006. Broke it in carefully, and with a good bench-rest I get 5 shots well inside a dime at 100 yards. Love that flat-shooting little beast.
Depending on how high the scope is mounted. "Close up" the bullet will impact about the distance of center of bore to center of scope low. Since it was dead on approximately at 10 yards. It it would be somewhat high at a longer distance.
The 17 HMR …. the professional gopher hunter’s magnum 😉 Love it!
Every time I watch you adjust your scopes I’m telling myself he should do it this way. lol. But then your the method for your madness always works awesome for you. So no one can hate on that. You do you bro. Awesome content. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
😂😂😂 appreciate you watching!
Love my .17 hmr. Bought cases of the 20gr hornadays back in 2008. So much fun to shoot. Very accurate unless someone sneezes in the bullets path. On a calm day, tack drivers.
I have been shooting the 17HMR for about 15 years I enjoy shooting out at 2:50 yd makes it a little bit more challenging but it is extremely accurate and extremely devastating to small game
Took a Turkey at 40 yards with a 17 HMR, it's a bad ass round!
I shoot at an indoor 50ft range with my 22rf. I had to smile at your 10 Yd shot knowing “from experience “ your 100 yd shot wouldn’t be anywhere close... And smiled again when you spun the adjustments not counting clicks because I do the exact same thing! Lol! Great video and a nice group!
One of the gun shops I have gone to for many years suggested the 17 hmr for critters control. I like the flat trajectory and seeing it impact the critter before it knew what was happening.
Nice shooting. I just started looking for a 17 revolver yesterday. Thanks for the video.
Revolver would be awesome
Really impressed with 17 HMR, I will have to get one , instead of 22 mag. Thanks for your channel.
Thanks for watching James!
@jamesgreenfield
Get the .22 mag. More power. Sweet shooter. Plus you can usually find the Ammo cheaper. Pre Covid of course. Nothing is cheap now.
I have several Pinty scopes, some tricked out with a laser and colored reticles. They're a good value and great customer service.
You know all the pro ways of doing things, yet you still do it the hard/fun way. I love this channel lmao.
Thanks for watching!!!
I love my Ruger American 17. I've taken truck loads of rabbits, many crows, and a coyote with it! Super awesome little cartridge! Thank you for the videos!
Thanks for watching Joshua!
One of the guys that hunts coyotes with us uses his 17 HMR and has made several kill shots over 100 yards, even one around 180.
I shot a couple myself, same gun but without the pressed checkering. Worked very well until I took a questionable shot. It was terrible and took me nearly 2 minutes to get to the Yote and dispatch it humanely. I’m back to the 5.56 or my brother-in-law’s .22-250.
How do think it compares to 22 magnum
.17 is too light for coyotes. Not a humane kill.
@@MrProfchaos71
I have a .22 mag and prefer it over .17. The 17 shoots flatter and is a bit faster, but the 22 mag bullet is twice as heavy and does a lot more damage. Both lose a lot of zip past 125 yards and when it’s windy, the 17 drifts much more than the 22mag. I’ve shot both for years. Just my .02 cents!
@@jasonlommen4769 Every coyote he shoots dies quickly and thats as humane as killing can be.
Wow, I'd call that dialed in 👍 Awesome stuff, thanks for showing it off.
Thanks for watching!
That small group is awesome. That Marlin is a Lazer beam. I'm calling the two that weren't touching the group wind interference impacts. Light projectiles, wind currents, heavy trigger pull, bullet drop or rise, bullet weight differences, thermal variations between the end of the barrel and target, barrel heating, slightly different bullet speeds all mix up for the perfect recipe for deviation from the point of zero. You performed great accuracy and a beautiful group sharpshooter. I loved it. Wishing you were my next door neighbor. Would be awesome. Game animals beware.
I have the Savage Model 93 with the heavy barrel in 17HMR. They are an absolute TACK DRIVER. Mine seem to like the cheap Winchester ammo the best, but I am constantly plagued by the split cases disease. It seems like it’s just something we have to live with. Regardless, it’s a brilliant little rifle to shoot, and it has absolutely no trouble taking appropriate game, and it does punch well above it’s weight if required to do so. As per usual, great video; just keep em coming. Cheers from Down Under.
93 is a good one
Wow, nice shootin tex. Great vid.
Thanks Vash
You always have a lot of fun videos, And this is a really cool one
I never knew a Marlin rifle that would not shoot that good with the right ammo GOD BLESS y’all brother Amen 🙏
The fact that .17hmr is available right now is the main reason why I want one
I have a Savage 93R17 bull barrel , synthetic stock . I've only sighted it in at ten yards and can't wait to get it out to 100. I've accumulated about 2,000 rounds of different makes of 17HMR . I've basically retired my 22LR rifles , dedicating that caliber to my Browning Buckmark pistol . I've been fortunate in finding 17HMR here in Upstate South Carolina . Wish me luck at the range , and Good Luck getting your rifle and ammo together .
@@victorwaddell6530 I got the same rifle recently except wood stock with the accutrigger. I sighted mine in at 50 and it is pretty much dead on at a 100. After 100 yards though is when the round begins to drop from looking at a drop chart. I need a higher powered scope though to be more consistent. It's a 9 power scope plus I'm half blind so I guess 2 MOA is ok for now lol I can make a few more adjustments though. .17 is still around me also in WV but I noticed the price to creep up a little but still not the increase other rounds have gone. Ive been holding on to my 22 rounds since those are getting scarce here. Enjoy, it's a really good rifle!
Ya weirdly enough I’ve seen thousands of rounds of .17hmr as well. Nearly every store I’ve been in. If I didn’t prefer shooting .22 mag, I’d buy it all!

I have the same gun in .22 mag. Shoots dimes all day at 100 yards. Love it! Luckily I bought several thousand rounds the past few years. Long before everything went bat shit crazy.

That was a great video. I really enjoyed it. Thanks. Yes, like you said, always sight in at 2 or 3 mils low at 20yrds.
Awesome, love my 17hmr. One of my favorite guns.
17 HMR is the only ammo on the shelf, might make sense to stop chasing the ammo and buy the gun for the ammo that is available !
Great review (and yes I am a Nerd). The great thing about the 17HM is that it will hit at the same point at 50 yards as it will at 100 yards. Just hold dead straight. Thanks for sharing!
Zero in my rifle, Ruger 77-17 was about .75 inches low at 100.
Just bought myself a Lithgow 17hmr can’t wait to try it out 👍👍
Excellent! I love mine, and it thumb nail groups at 100 yds as well. Lots of fun shooting eggs, and other targets that splatter good! Yep, ammo is hard to come by right now.
Looks like the one out front of the my house, the one they keep having to replace. But as i grow a little older it seems every hunting season😇.
Nser here too lol were doing awesome with covid cases hey
I’ve been contemplating buying a 22lr or a 17 hmr this week...since I’ve been watching this channel for a while, I’ve decided to buy both😎
CZ can sell you a 457 American that has both 22lr and 17hmr barrels. It is easy to convert back and forth. Although once you use the 17hmr, you might never swap back. Use fmj bullets on small game you may want to eat. Very lethal and minimum tissue damage. Any expanding bullet from the 17hmr is explosive on small game. The increased range is awesome.
17 HMR is such a fun caliber. Good video Who.
Great shooting WTW! Thanks fir sharing!🤘🏽
First 100 yard shot reminds of the scene from major league, “ just a bit outside”
That’s funny, love that movie!
I completely relate, “a whole bunch of clickies”!
😂😂😂
Thanks for another entertaining WTW Video! I enjoy shooting the 17hmr as much as my other rimfires. A Trapper that I watch who works and lives in the NWT has shot wolves and wolverine with his 17hmr and they were not on traps at the time! The 17hmr is a very effective caliber that punches way outside it's weight class!
Appreciate you watching Mike
Yes. I have the same 917V, great little gun.
I have a savage heavy Barrel that shoots like a tack driver have it sighted in at 200 yards.
I have a Savage 17HMR too . I've sighted her in a ten yards , can't wait to get her out to 100 yards +.
200 yards is past max limit in my opinion with 17hmr. It’s a laser beam cartridge, but loses way too much mustard at that distance, plus if there is much wind, it’s too light a round to sustain its trajectory.
@@jasonlommen4769 I've dropped crows at 200. CZ 452 v-max 17gr
100 yards is easy with the 17.....but wind is a big problem around here and has big effect on the 17.
Thousands of rounds thru my heavy barrel Savage, and thousands of gophers taken.
Iits an awesome round.
I know of some retired guys that would spend all day at the range waiting for big flies to land on the targets at 100 yards so they could pop them with .17 HMRs.
You might be country if you need a golf cart to go get your mail and take out the trash! 🤣
and if it is over 20 miles to the post office and we haul our own trash?
I still use my JOHN DEERE riding mower!
F350 or nothing for that
Or old.
That’s a damn good group, badass scope and beautiful rifle
I got a Marlin 17V heavy barrel like the one you used and I love that thing! They are tack drivers. Only downside is the Ammo is expensive even in normal ammo price times. Great video, thanks for sharing. Subbed.
You should try putting nails in a board but not the whole way and try shooting them to drill them in the rest of the way
Good idea
@@jeffsellars5179 I always did the same as a kid
Ah the good ol days
I'd be interested in seeing what damage a 17HMR can do at 100yd. Nice to hit centre but, what about effectiveness?
It obliterates small game. Absolutely gruesome! That little bullet opens up like an explosion and will leave a large exit cavity in rabbits and prairie dogs.
I’ve taken deer with head shot with a CZ452 in 17HMR
Gophers explode at 100 yards.
One interesting thing about the HMR round-- at least Hornady's 17 grain one-- is that at close distance, you can shoot a 2-liter bottle of water, and you'll have one entrance "wound", but no exit. It dumps all its energy within 5 inches of water, but leaves only the polymer tip and pieces of that bullet shaking around in the bottom of the bottle. 😳 In other words, if you need a round to do big damage to the inside of a small beast, but not damage fur, then the .17HMR will do the trick.
Great group with that little 17. Very accurate little rifle
Great I just bought that gun & ready to sight in ..good timing ! That was pretty good considering that wind blowing from your right ! Thanks JW
You might hold the record for the most guns owned with only one scope used on them

I have a tikka t1x in 17 hmr with a primary arms 4-14 and its one of the most accurate guns I've ever shot. It makes hitting tiny targets feel easy.
17 hmr is an awesome little cartridge! I've hit golf balls at 200 yards with mine. It took a few tries but it'll do it. It's good fun
17hmr is great at 100 yards. We have been holding long range shoots for rimfires at our club the last year out to 300 meters on steel, you would be surprised just how good it can be.

Thanks. I purchased a Henry 17 HMR last fall. Do not plan to put a Scope on it but nice to see what it can do.
17 Hmr with the right ammo is awesomely accurate. I have a Savage A17 and a CZ453 Varmint and love them both. I can’t think of any thing other than hand loads that shoots so accurately at 100 yards, for such a low cost. Just deadly on gophers. Like they stepped on a land mine.
I love my .17 hmr. That little rifle is very accurate, even at long distances it can it drop some small prey. I'll keep mine forever.
I just picked up a Marlin 917VS made in 2005.. traded a 9mm pistol for it a pawn shop.. I got it cleaned up and took my first shot... the scope was 15” left and 5” high... got her zeroed in in 15 rounds and it does hold a very tight group.. 1” or less at 100yds.
Of all the gun guys I watch on YT I think you are the only one I’d really enjoy shooting with.
Thanks Dudley. I am just a regular dude. I have met almost all of the "gun guys" and you are correct.....most are jerks and people you would not want to be around. I have quit going to most of the events
Man, that round has got some snap! Nice shooting.
I love my marlin 17 HMR for a 17gr bullit it packs a punch till the wind comes up.
Awesome! I had a Marlin 17VSS a few years ago that would shoot 3/8 inch in low wind. Unfortunately I got a stupid idea and traded it for a Model 70 270 that kicked like a 300 RUM! Didn’t take long to regret that trade
I'm impressed with the .17HMR! I never thought it could shoot sub moa. Mine shoots ten shots under an inch at 100 and just under 2" at 200 yards; ten shots!
You should go close to same hole groups if you're up to the job, the 17hmr and marlin certainly are. This should be a fun video.👍🇦🇺🇺🇸👍
Me and my dad almost purchased a 17. The only problem. They didn't have the ammo for that particular 17. But they did have three other kinds. Including 17 PPC .
Good Video.
I have used a 17hmr in a CZ for a few years now using hornady ammo. Last week I was hitting Rabbits at 200 yard and putting them down with ease. always my go to gun for pest control around my farm.
I'm a 5mm Remington fan, and my 581 gets groups like that all day long. The itty-bitty rimfires do a really good joib
I have many guns but my .17 is flat out a personal favorite to shoot. You can punch a hole in a quarter at 50 yards consistently with a FMJ ( hard to find .17 in FMJ for some reason).
Good video! not too long, straight to the point and entertaining to watch

The .17 HMR was a game changer when it came out. Really something. A friend of mine and I were shooting golf balls at 25 yds with it and thought we were missing. We weren't, it was going so fast that when it hit it, it wouldn't move! Awesome group WTW!!
