  • Made by the National Film Board 1949. Directed by John Kingsford-Smith.This film tells the story of the Pilot Service of Port Jackson which safely bring into this famous harbour hundreds of thousands of tons of shipping each year. The film opens with the sighting of a ship at the historic signal station, the boarding of the ship by the pilot who has been transported outside the heads on the trim little "Captain Cook" - Pilot Vessel. As the Pilot brings the overseas liner up the channel we see the dangers which have to be avoided - the jutting headlands, the shoals, and the rest of the busy shipping which plies to and fro in the harbour.
