I'm guessing if there ever do an episode on their "most feared injury", I think Bob's would be leg wounds, Wade's would be a broken bone as he has never had one, and Mark's would be any hole in him that isn't supposed to be there.
I’ve actually had a hole in me and it’s not as bad as you think especially if it’s made slow enough. I had an ingrown toenail that was killing me and I just could seem to fix it. Then one day it stopped hurting and I figured I finally fixed it turns out it was starting to come out the bottom of my toe. It was creepy how much it didn’t hurt. It eventually got so long I just snapped it off and pulled it out and the toenail problem was gone. However I now had a hole straight through my toe that wasn’t bleeding. It eventually patched itself up but that was weird
I went to parties like this back in high school. One chick drunkenly fell off the roof of a two-story house. No serious injury but I definitely got the fuck out of there before the police came. There was one time I was at an underage party when the cops came and I was stoned beyond measure but I didn't drink. So once I passed the breathalyzer, the cops let me leave.
similar story lol. cops busted a party, one of them asked me what was in my cup, i told him water, he checked and then didn't bother me again. the whole reason i had the cup in the first place was bc i had cotton mouth like a mf. how he couldn't tell i was on cloud 9 i genuinely don't know 😭
I let my sister throw a party while our parents were away for a couple of nights. One of her trashed 16 year old friends put his fist through our glass dining room door, and our uncle showed up the next morning while seven teenagers were all passed out in the living room in Halloween costumes, reeking of Cactus Jacks. I somehow managed to divert him away from the living room and made up a story about what had happened to the smashed glass door, which he then arranged to have fixed before our parents got home.
There was a few parties I had like this, the one was crazy. At my sisters house while she worked. Got like 20-25 people, everyone’s doing thier thing and it gets out of control. Someone invited underage kids, 18-19 year olds drinking and two dudes with warrants. Someone opens a bedroom door and smoke billows out and across the ceiling. The smoke detector goes off. And while everyone quiets down for a second I hear it in the hallway and I’m like ‘oh shit’ So I start going around giving people jobs, clean up the beer, spay fabreeze, move this, put the beer pong table away. So everyone is running around, the two dudes with warrants pretend to be asleep on the floor of the bathroom, beer is going out the window and onto the roof. My short friend Dom was trying to crawl out and I push him out onto the roof. And the police station was a block away idk why it took so long for them to get here. So we turn on the tv on mute, put family guy on, everyone is smoking cigarettes, and they knock. I open it and they say ‘We gotta just check to make sure there is no actual fire’ let them in and they check the smoke detector and leave. Idk why they didn’t think it was suspicious for 20 people to watch family on mute, at 1 am. But hey, it was a good story.
This story reminds me of the story John Mulaney told that is titled “the one thing you can’t replace”. Similar thing if out of control party full of under aged people.
Ah yes, the working late and showing up to parties at the midway point sober. Always horrible as usual, it does make you question your life goals though. My last time doing that was showing up at my own house with about 40 highschool kids parting with the cops out front. I tried to get the female police woman to get the kids out of my house. She told me that if she did that she would have to arrest me for having under age kids drinking. Instead she said that she would leave and come back in an hour and if things were calm she wouldn't arrest me. That was very kind of her. I have no clue where my roommates were but I succeeded. The fanale consisted of geting two guys out of my bathroom who were doing coke. The told me I was racist. It was weird. The end.
Maybe snorting coke in a stranger's bathroom while in the presence of a multitude of underaged party goers was part of their culture, very insensitive of you I must say, smh my head and what not.

@@Riounka When I got my tattoo I was adviced not to drink before because alcohol can thin your blood. But depending on your placement its really not that bad. I got mine on my inner forearm. I hate needles. But it was very manageable and I'd easily do it again.

This thought has been in my mind for a long time, and I had to get it out. I don't think Bob's Fridge is the best episode of Distractible. Firstly, I am in NO WAY saying that Bob's Fridge is a bad episode, and it is absolutely the best story. It deserves a spot in the top 5... but not the gold crown. For the record, my #1 is Beware the Candy Uncle, and I will explain shortly. Please keep an open mind as you read. When the podcast first began, most episodes had 2 or 3 big stories that spanned the length of the 45-60 minute episodes. This is something that is very uncommon now, and it all starts with Dreams and Nightmares. Dreams and Nightmares is only slightly better, having about 6-8 smaller segments, but it is very notable because of what it directly caused; King of Meat, the first co-op episode, and one of-if not the most re-listenable episodes of them all. It may not be my favorite, but it always seems new and fresh (to varying degrees) whenever I listen to it. This is because of how segmented the episode is, with between 12 and 15 notably different stories/topics of discussion. King of Meat is the turning point, and the separation between episodes like Conventions and Supernatural, and episodes like Anything Goes and Bob Has No Idea. Beware the Candy Uncle is not the most varied episode, but it does have 8-9 different segments, and an extremely interesting topic that leads to very creative ideas. This is one of the few episodes where I felt like the trio was on the top of their game (like Oh Shit Moments, Pet Stories, and Dangerous Coasters). When I first listened to it, the line that stuck out to me was when Wade said "HOPE THAT SECOND M&M WAS WORTH IT, TIMMY! HO, HO HO!" When I listened to it the second time, several months later, a line that stuck out was when Mark said "And if you- if you breach this contract something bad will happen..." The third time, it was Mark saying "I'll give you one point for each of those ideas" prompting Wade's reaction of "THAT'S THREE!" The fourth time; Bob yes, but-ing Mark, "No, no, total cartoon: 'Local dad, Jimmy's dad, went out fishing, BY HIMSELF, because his son refused to follow the candy rule!" And by the 6th listen, this stopped, and the episode was only slightly less funny. Listens 2-6 took place over the course of A WEEK, when I chose the episode randomly to listen to as I fell asleep. Each night I started it over from the beginning, until I finished it. So before I outline my thoughts on Bob's Fridge, I will give another, similar example; Funniest Joke In The World. When I first listened to this, it broke me, and it was a struggle to not burst out laughing in the middle of school. I re-played parts of it over, and over, and when I finally moved on, it was only because those parts had become less funny (which could have contributed to my next point). When I listened to it the second time, I did chuckle, and laugh in some spots, but when it was over I felt confused. I had remembered it being longer, and funnier than this. That was because when I listened to it the second time, I was looking forward to certain parts. Everything before them felt like something I had to wait through, and the moments themselves ended too soon. The best knock-knock joke, and the Brendan Sudol joke generator, didn't surprise me anymore. I must also mention that this episode has, at best, 3 segments, excluding the beginning and end of the episode. This is my exact problem with Bob's Fridge. It is one very long story, with memorable and hilarious parts, but it loses a lot upon re-listen. To demonstrate my point, I would like to ask that you try listening to the episode again. I'm sure you'll laugh a lot. Then wait a week and listen to it again. There will probably be a small percentage of you who realize that it was slightly underwhelming. Now wait another week and do it again. Do this for five weeks, and I can guarantee that by the end of it, you will not find it more than half as funny as when you listened to it four weeks prior. You could argue that it is not meant to be listened to multiple times in a month, and you would be right, except I would point out that I listened to Beware The Candy Uncle five times in less than a week, and only found it slightly less funny by the end of it. Bob's Fridge's memorability works against it. The episode is 1 long story which makes up 3/4 segments, and almost all of the 49 minute length. When I listened to it the second time, I still liked it about as much. It was only when I listened to it the 3rd time (about 2 months after the 2nd) that it started to feel dull. I eagerly awaited the great lines, but they came and went so quickly, and I wasn't getting anything new out of it. I don't get anything new out of Beware The Candy Uncle anymore, either, but it's still a rather enjoyable listen, and I doubt that many people would listen to it several times in a week. To sum up, Bob's Fridge is an amazing story, and a great first experience. But when you revisit it a few times, it won't hold up nearly as much. A great episode should be one that you get more out of upon re-listen, and it should only start to feel dull after 7 or 8 times. Of course, I am not saying that Bob's Fridge is a bad episode; I have it ranked very highly because of that first experience. But first impressions don't show the full truth of it, and I feel confident in saying that Beware The Candy Uncle is a better re-listenable experience than Bob's Fridge. Distractible is about competing to see who can bring the most captivating stories to the table; Beware The Candy Uncle has MULTIPLE captivating stories. Pet Stories has MULTIPLE captivating stories. Dangerous Coasters has MULTIPLE captivating stories. Bob’s Fridge has ONE captivating story. It is not a competition; and in this regard, even if it is the BEST STORY, it CANNOT qualify as the best episode, by this metric. Beware the Candy Uncle is not the most varied episode, but it does have 8-9 different segments, and an extremely interesting topic that leads to very creative ideas. This is one of the few episodes where I felt like the trio was on the top of their game (like Oh Shit Moments, Pet Stories, and Dangerous Coasters). When I first listened to it, the line that stuck out to me was when Wade said "HOPE THAT SECOND M&M WAS WORTH IT, TIMMY! HO, HO HO!" When I listened to it the second time, several months later, a line that stuck out was when Mark said "And if you- if you breach this contract something bad will happen..." The third time, it was Mark saying "I'll give you one point for each of those ideas" prompting Wade's reaction of "THAT'S THREE!" The fourth time; Bob yes, but-ing Mark, "No, no, total cartoon: 'Local dad, Jimmy's dad, went out fishing, BY HIMSELF, because his son refused to follow the candy rule!" And by the 6th listen, this stopped, and the episode was only slightly less funny. Listens 2-6 took place over the course of A WEEK, when I chose the episode randomly to listen to as I fell asleep. Each night I started it over from the beginning, until I finished it.
So before I outline my thoughts on Bob's Fridge, I will give another, similar example; Funniest Joke In The World. When I first listened to this, it broke me, and it was a struggle to not burst out laughing in the middle of school. I re-played parts of it over, and over, and when I finally moved on, it was only because those parts had become less funny (which could have contributed to my next point). When I listened to it the second time, I did chuckle, and laugh in some spots, but when it was over I felt confused. I had remembered it being longer, and funnier than this. That was because when I listened to it the second time, I was looking forward to certain parts. Everything before them felt like something I had to wait through, and the moments themselves ended too soon. The best knock-knock joke, and the Brendan Sudol joke generator, didn't surprise me anymore. I must also mention that this episode has, at best, 3 segments, excluding the beginning and end of the episode. This is my exact problem with Bob's Fridge. It is one very long story, with memorable and hilarious parts, but it loses a lot upon re-listen.
To demonstrate my point, I would like to ask that you try listening to the episode again. I'm sure you'll laugh a lot. Then wait a week and listen to it again. There will probably be a small percentage of you who realize that it was slightly underwhelming. Now wait another week and do it again. Do this for five weeks, and I can guarantee that by the end of it, you will not find it more than half as funny as when you listened to it four weeks prior. You could argue that it is not meant to be listened to multiple times in a month, and you would be right, except I would point out that I listened to Beware The Candy Uncle five times in less than a week, and only found it slightly less funny by the end of it. Bob's Fridge's memorability works against it. The episode is 1 long story which makes up 3/4 segments, and almost all of the 49 minute length. When I listened to it the second time, I still liked it about as much. It was only when I listened to it the 3rd time (about 2 months after the 2nd) that it started to feel dull. I eagerly awaited the great lines, but they came and went so quickly, and I wasn't getting anything new out of it. I don't get anything new out of Beware The Candy Uncle anymore, either, but it's still a rather enjoyable listen, and I doubt that many people would listen to it several times in a week.
To sum up, Bob's Fridge is an amazing story, and a great first experience. But when you revisit it a few times, it won't hold up nearly as much. A great episode should be one that you get more out of upon re-listen, and it should only start to feel dull after 7 or 8 times. Of course, I am not saying that Bob's Fridge is a bad episode; I have it ranked very highly because of that first experience. But first impressions don't show the full truth of it, and I feel confident in saying that Beware The Candy Uncle is a better re-listenable experience than Bob's Fridge.
Distractible is about competing to see who can bring the most captivating stories to the table; Beware The Candy Uncle has MULTIPLE captivating stories. Pet Stories has MULTIPLE captivating stories. Dangerous Coasters has MULTIPLE captivating stories. Bob’s Fridge has ONE captivating story. It is not a competition; and in this regard, even if it is the BEST STORY, it CANNOT qualify as the best episode, by this metric.
