- Project Cologne is back with a vengeance! The M54B25 engine in this E46 325i has a rod knock, and in this episode we do the swap that was always planned, 330i M54B30 engine with a 6-speed manual gearbox. This marks the new chapter for project Cologne as we are going to turn it into a track capable car! After completing the swap, we go straight for the Nürburgring and do some laps with @mgcharoudin.

If you watch lots of his on-boards, you can clearly see, that he has no mechanical-sympathy unfortunately. That's the only thing that buggers me.
I drove with him in my Yellow Touring and boy he is super fast. I can agree with @SzwarcuKX5 - he is very rought driver but I guess it's just his driving style.

27:29 The washer from the old coolant pipe totally flew right into the opening where the oil filter housing sits. If it hasn't fallen out through somewhere else surely it will appear later when you disassemble everything again. 😁 Great content as always and good luck with all your projects. I've been following you since the beginning and each new video is an occasion for me!

Getting Misha to coach you at the ring is a great idea. Seems a good guy and he certainly knows the track.
This is my favourite content on CZcams by a mile, and another 1 hour episode that always finishes too quickly. I was leaning into the bends around the ring, I bet that M4 driver was thinking ‘how did that 3 series estate car get past me!’
A fresh proper build like Sreten is absolutely fantastic it brings the car up to life again it changed not just the engine but also gearbox and brakes it would be nice to see the dino tests results before this changes and after the changing parts that way we would know more precisely how much power it gained with the up-graded parts.. In case of M4 it may be a case of a novice fresh driver, or a girl who might take it slower to accommodate with the 'Ring traffic, bends, curves and with the hairpin turn.. we all enjoy both channels so much we now go to see Misha channel to see his feeling inside the car during the Ring-lap..
Misha should record himself talking guide thru the entire nurburgring and sell them. Im down to buy

The E46 touring like you have, Sreten, is the most beautiful one out there. The colour is great, the M-Sport body trim makes it really beautiful and the 330i engine and gearbox put this car where it deserves to be. You drive very good, btw. And the E46 is really fast when pushed hard.
Oh the glorious M54. I put 450K kms on mine before selling it off and it continued running for another owner. It really is a great engine. Just like this video !

I have a BMW with the M54 in it as well. This video really makes me determined to keep mine on the road for as long as humanly possible. I’m glad there’s videos on CZcams showing you what improvements you can make to improve the life of this beautiful engine. If only I could do it myself 😂
I bought one cheap from the auctions with 230k miles on it, It now has over 250 and is still going strong. It's amazing how long these engines will last if you look after them.
Amazeballs Sreten. Just rewatching the catalogue and amazing to see the differences. From production to your remanufacturing approach. Keep doing you mate wish you well.
You should consider fitting S50B30/B32 headers on this. It will give you the best sounding M54 ever, almost idendical to the S50. The bolt pattern in the head matches perfectly on M52 & M54, the O2 bungs may need a little modyfing (at least with M52 as the sensor is a little short to reach all the way into the exhaust flow). I have some videos of my M52 with these headers on my channel :)

If you still need a new engine stand, I Do Cars has been using this black one from DAYTONA. Seems to be a Harbor Freight brand, so I am not sure at the overall quality or if you can get one in Germany. It seems well put together. A gear driven rotation mechanism and I do not see it flexing or drooping with an engine on it. 1500 LB capacity.

The 3 litre is such a good engine. Had it in an 03 touring, 05 convertible and now in an 04 e85 Z4. Its economical and more than powerful enough

I love how you treat this as a rust bucket. The chassis is so much better than the average e46, even more so a touring here in canada.
Ikr the car the parted out could be easily restored. That's a normal car here in the rust belt of the U.S.A. after 10+ years. In the Rust Belt they restore cars much much worse.

You did great Sreten, the Nürburgring looks like it lives up to it's reputation as one tough track. Thanks to Misha for excellent copilot guidance, your skills will grow with leaps and bounds. The E46 330i engine/transmission swap to m level power is a fascinating choice. I can't wait for further suspension upgrades!
Loved it! Track driving seems to be the logical evolution to your channel. Fun after fix! I strongly advise you get yourself a driving simulator. The investment is practically nothing compared to how much and how fast you will learn and train for free!
Simulators has their limits (mostly you can't FEEL the G forces which is 90% of driving for me) but it's awesome to get to know track and get used to it. It's really good investment in that terms as later you can practice IRL to perfect it.
I agree about the G-forces, but the sim brings much more than track learning. The available eequipment nowadays gives a lot of feel in steering, accelerating/braking and the timing between those, etc... Also best tool to learn of to drift for the prise of a few runs in reality!@@sorekuk
