- The SSL master bus compressor is a legendary compressor that you most likely have heard on lots of records. The Glue from Cytomic is one of the best digital emulations of this classic circuit. In this video we'll have a look at the features of The Glue and also discuss how to compress a full mix in general.

Awesome. I'm grateful I found this channel. Thank you Thomas And Sofia :-)
Outstanding tutorial. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful! /Thomas
Makeup gain is supposed to keep the level pretty much even after compressing. If you compress more & don't use the makeup gain, it'll sound softer when you turn it on. The way I compress, I have to use makeup gain, or the instrument or vocal will get lost in the mix.
New sub.. Glad to have found this example! Great work
Great tutorial thank you!
Great video - of course it's impossible for non-professionals to hear the half db before and after. Although I am much better at making mixes sound worse with a compressor than I am at making it sound better. So maybe I'll try that half db next time.
Hthanku so much for this amazing xplanation
How does this version of The Glue compare to one that comes in Ableton (also made by Cytomic) ??
very nice video love it
Thank You Dj Mrbeast :D
Thanks Thomas!
Thank you
Great video 🙌
Does this plugin have a Dual Mono option? I'm beginning to really like what Dual Mono does on a final master vs. Mid/Side. Also, a mix knob is very helpful a la the Klanghelm DC8C. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos - Dave
Yes, dual mono compression can really sound nice and wide on a stereo mix. There's no way to unlink the channels in the Glue as far as I know, other than to use separate instances for left and right. /Thomas
The HPF is the best feature of this SSL clone
Hi Thomas could you do a tutorial using Voxengo elephant limiter
merci
I can’t get the pdf on the site!!
Can you help out sir
👏👏👏
Shall I buy this or the Abbey Road TG Mastering Chain ? Which one for a better polished glue Master? Thank you!
They're both good with different character, it's hard to recommend one over the other. The Glue is more versatile IMO, and it's the one that I use the most, but the TG has a unique sound that sounds great on some mixes. See if you can demo both of them. /Thomas
@@MasteringExplained Appreciate the help.
i have both and I think The Glue is the real deal, most of Waves plugins are gimmicky and do not impart the tonal character of the hardware they are emulating, not to mention NO oversampling option. I would definitely recommed The Glue
0:14 book name please
You're a "Master"!
The ratio behave strange, the higher I get, the louder the volume gets
Pro C-2 Bus mode is like "Hold my beer"
Cytomic Glue does not support VST3.
The developers keep making excuses.
Glue. What a stupid term.
