How good would be passong my days listen this voice... ...and talking about mixing and mastering... Wow! Beautiful.
Had no idea it could do this
If I may intercede. Leaving dither on might give the listener more options to use his personal EQ skills to change your music while listening, potentially even while driving. In other words, it's for the listener's convenience?
Since you're using Limitless isn't this like using between 2-4 limiters in a series depending on the advanced settings or style of each? Since limitless is 2 limiters in 1 :)
Loved this series! MORE!!
Nice vid.
I love that. Thanks and thanks to my headphones too 😊
Nice Tutorial Thank you ijin download
In a world that has not only made “compression” synonymous to “Downward Compression” but also has put “downward compression” on a pedestal …to the point where upward compression and expansions are not even discussed as an optional “Dynamic range controlling” techniques, here is one channel that decided to put things in perspective and demonstrate techniques beyond the default downward compression. Absolute ‘must watch’ for anyone who deals with dynamics processing; sit up, wake up and ponder over possibilities.
Amazing!
så grym video..!
How do I force the low end to be mono, does this have to be done during production? Or can it be accomplished during mix/master using TDR Nova?
Great vid
Very cool! And concise! Very useful having the visual there as well.. THANK YOU 🙏🕊️✨
really nice thank you!
Have you ever used NDH 30s? Just got a pair but waiting on an audio interface that can handle higher ohm phones (ndh30 are 120 ohm I believe). Also have you tried Slate Digital's vsx for room referencing? I've heard good things. It's on my wish list
This makes me want to not use my limiter
By 17:19 is that your canopener settings ? Why 45° and not 60° thx for answere :)
Many thanks for all the useful information and tips.
Big thanks for this useful pack of tips, definitely learned something new! Wish: It would be great to see how you would tweak the look ahead in the first example to get rid of the distortion and also in the other examples. But very useful that you categorized the different types of problems. Thanks again 🙏
I've always found it difficult to grasp limiting as a compressor or even the implications of compression itself. You're trained as a newbie as something that makes it louder but the risks are never really communicated well. The main one I've heard is it could kill you low end. This has been useful
I love this channel so damn much
Thank you very much!
Thanks! Best/Mathias
This was actually so helpful. Thanks. Also it is a super short video that easily can be sheard. It might have been helpful to show a simple limiter plugin and show the changes made, while listening to the difference. For beginners that have not used limiters a lot. I know this channel focuses on mastering, thus fixing small mistakes is a big part of it. But a video on how to tell that your mix could benefit from using a limiter would also be a helpful video.
This channel is by far the best and most real world mastering content. You guys are amazing and thank you from a mastering engineer and also teaching other to hear what they don’t understand
I have taken many Mix/Mstr Course. Followed countless YT Vids. You are the only one I have ever learned real practical mix/mastr ops from. Thank you !!!
Major thanks. Years ago but helpful for me in 2024.
6:48 Oh no, what? - Um no. As I wasn't quite listening and assumed you just said a gonad meter... Hahahaha - yeah ryt, NOT.
Like me, you watched Brian Lucey’s video, too 😁 He explained exactly that 1,5dB mid forward thing like 8 years ago 🫶
I haven't seen the video but I do remember reading a post from him about it on a forum some years ago. The L2 trick and variations of it is way older than that though. /Thomas
Great analogy at the end haha
Bro your channel is literally the best haha You deserve alot more sub
So nice to have a new video from you. Both insightful and instructive as always.😊
Thanks Anders! ☀️
I dont really like warm mixes i have realized over the years. Like its a pretty normal thing to assume things have to be warm. Not all mixes need to be warm. I do appreciate full bodies sounding mixes, that ar not thing and have weight and punch, but overly warm mix is not for me
Thank you, that is very helpful 🌻
warm just means full and yes something can be beyond full making it muddy.
Thank you for this
Thanks again! Always helpful!
Thanks. Best/Mathias
I wish there were audio examples from actual mixes for each point made.
Hi Thomas, Thank you for these wonderful videos. Would it be possible to have a Playlist of videos for Beginners? The subject can be quite intimidating... But I love your patient style of explaining. Thanks again.

Awesome tutorial! Is it OK to apply this to the master fader in a mix or only to be used after rendering the whole take?
For whatever reason I dont like the multiband version of DMG limiter, but TrackLimit is my go too, I just put it on aggressive or Punchy and whatever that eq profile does is the exact sound Im looking for.
i got a noob question, ive been looking on your channel but i cant find how i can see the Kotelnikov interface as you show on your video, i mean the grafic barr fo the gain reduction Db i cant see how much it fluctuates. and i suppose you need another program to display it? can you help me? what program i need to test and see how everything is changing. im new on this trying to Compress louds sounds on my headphones.
To put an L2 in L and another in R, can I open two Blue cats and put one in L and another in R? thank you
The stereo field on headphones, as we perceive it, is never real. Our left hear cannot hear the right side. There are more issues also....On the other hand, having a properly treated room at home is virtually impossible. In the end, maybe headphones are the better solution, but one must know well the headphones. Thanks, nice video mate.
sofia your voice is so calming
